Next Gen Game Controller: Watch & Game

Gaming website Digital Battle got its hands on a concept sketch for the controller of next generation consoles. So what can we expect?

It is obviously fake. For one thing, the controller is wired. Wait. I get it: wireless capability is post-release DLC. Yep, this is real.

Angry Birds Lobbed to Another Platform

Angry Birds is the new Tetris. It’s everywhere: phones, tablets, desktop computers, handheld videogame systems and even on a browser. Illustrator and graphic designer Giorgio Cantú imagines what it would be like if the game appeared on its own Nintendo Game & Watch too:

Rovio wouldn’t approve of it though. No way to place in-game purchases or ads. Slingshot to Cantú’s Flickr page for high resolution versions of the image or fly to his website for more of his work.

LEGO Cake: Eat It Brick by Brick

I’m a big fan of LEGO, and I’m also a big fan of cake. So what’s not to like about this delicious looking cake made up to look like a bunch of LEGO bricks stacked together.

Now I know all those little colorful bricks are just made up out of icing, but it would have been really cool if each one were baked individually, then stacked together. That would’ve been the mark of a true LEGO geek. Also, those look like real minifigs, so don’t try and chomp down on them unless you want a chipped tooth and a belly ache. Still, the cake does look pretty great, and mighty tasty at that. There’s nothing more delicious than food coloring in primary colors. It’s also good for the tongue and teeth.

Evil Dead Bento Box: Food of the Undead

A lot of people are particular about the food that they eat. Aside from considering the nutritional content, there’s also taste, aroma, and of course, presentation. I don’t really care how my meals look like, as long as they taste good, with the exception of this Evil Dead Bento Box, that is.

I stared at the image for a good ten seconds before I could peel my eyes away from this edible abomination.

Let’s break it down, shall we? That’s rice right there for the face, some sea weed for the nose and other facial markings, and boiled eggs rimmed with black pepper for the eyes. I keep trying to guess what the teeth actually are, but I’m starting to feel queasy so I’ll leave the rest of the guesswork up to you.

I wonder if the person who made this ended up actually eating it. Because personally, I don’t think I could stomach this at all.

This hilarious self-inking stamp is a great accessory for teachers. It puts a dash of humor to an otherwise sorry state of affairs – a failing grade.

Of course if you’re the Balrog to your teacher’s Gandalf this would just be rubbing salt in your wounds. At least he didn’t scream it to your face and then destroy the very ground you were standing on, sending you to your demise.

Game Point Art Print: How I See Myself

A videogame is the only form of art that can not only simulate an experience but immerse its audience through interaction. That simulation is of course flawed and limited – Daigo Umehara wouldn’t stand a chance against a real martial artist – but still. A few hours into a game and more often than not, our description of gameplay won’t be in terms of pushing a button or moving a joystick. It’s about catching someone in your weapon’s sights, working hard to gather materials for our next masterpiece, beating the buzzer. I think this illustration by Bradley Oesch sums it up neatly.

Batman fans – I just found a new toy for you to add to your collection. It’s Hasbro’s official The Dark Knight Rises Mr. Potato Head! Also known as The Dark Spud, this very special Potato head comes complete with his own Batsuit, Batcowl, Batbelt, Batcape, and Batarang.

He’s also wearing a twisted smirk/smile that should scare off all evildoers that come his way. Assuming you can understand what he’s saying this time. Maybe they’ll come up with a Bane Potato Head too. I’d definitely buy that one.

Woman Giving Birth to Spider-Man’s Nemesis?

My sister is due in a couple of months, and the whole family is excited. She’s going to have a baby girl, and my parents are probably the most giddy set of soon-to-be-grandparents ever.

She got a 4D ultrasound done just last week, so we all got a good look at her baby. But before the 4D one was a sonogram that I did a bad job of interpreting. Where the baby’s head was, I saw a butt. Where her hand was, I saw a foot. Eventually my sister pointed out which was which and what part was where, so that settled that.

But if her sonogram looked anything like the one shown above, then I’d probably be more than alarmed – although I’d be able to recognize who (or what) she’s carrying insider her belly: Venom!

The sonogram was posted on Reddit by Venom’s proud father-to-be. Scary, huh?

History was made when President Barack Obama was elected as the President of the United States in 2008. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. And now here we are in 2012, with the U.S. Presidential elections coming up in a few months.

On a totally unrelated note to politics, the President as the Incredible Hulk is the last thing I ever thought I’d see. But here it is, in all it’s hulky massiveness: Barack Obama as the Hulk.

The figure was created by Ron English, a well-known artist creates awesome works of art for a living. Unsurprisingly, his Joe Biden action figure is nowhere to be found.

Darth Vader’s Day at the Office

If there’s anything that you get from Star Wars, is that Darth Vader was a pretty messed up dude. That didn’t stop Jim Alley from creating this quirky scene, which imagines how Darth Vader’s life could have been like if he wouldn’t have been so taken with the Dark Side of the Force, and settled down and got a “real job” instead.

While Darth Vader might not really work amongst us, it’s funny to think of a dark lord of the Sith just going about his day, taking some calls and having a cup of joe. One can only assume he’s talking to Luke or Leia on the phone – probably asking the kids what they want for dinner tonight.

Firefox Icon Pillow Lets You Show Your Love for Your Preferred Browser

Before I discovered Google Chrome, I had always been a Mozilla Firefox girl. I disliked Internet Explorer because frankly, it made browsing websites a huge pain. Plus, you know, I loved that Firefox had all these plugins that you can install with a single mouse click.

I jumped to Firefox and still use it sometimes when my Chrome browser acts up. But when I saw this Firefox Icon Pillow, I just knew I either had to have it (or hint to someone that I wanted it, since it’s almost Christmas already anyway.)

I might be using another browser right now, but I will forever remember Firefox as the first browser that gave me an enjoyable surfing experience on the web. (So much drama for a browser, I know.)

Pac-Man Doormat Lets You Walk All Over Those Pesky Ghosts

Like classic arcade games? Why not treat your houseguests to a game of Pac-Man the minute they arrive at your home? I’m not proposing that you put an arcade cabinet on your front porch, though. This Pac-Man doormat should definitely do the trick.

Looks like Pac-Man is doing a pretty good job staying away from his ghostly nemeses, though it doesn’t look like he’s really made much progress yet.

While it would be way cooler if you could actually play Pac-Man by stepping on it, at least it’ll keep your shoes clean before they go stomping around your ~~maze~~ house. The Pac-Man doormat is available from OOO My Design for €30 (~$40 USD).

P.S. I think this thing should be renamed “Pac-Mat.”

Angry Birds Pizza Needs More Ham on It

Cakes get decorated with all sorts of geeky stuff all the time, so why isn’t it that pizzas get the same artistic love? Well, if you’re one of the millions of Angry Birds fanatics out there, this pizza is just for you.

This particular pizza features the red Angry Bird, and he appears to still be pissed off, despite the fact that he’s made up of delicious mushrooms, black olives, and just the right amount of onion. I could skip all that red pepper though. Maybe he’s grumpy because he knows he’s about to be eaten.

Apparently, the guy who made this decided not to go with making a green piggie pizza, because that would have required using moldy ham.

The Cake of Thrones

Robert Baratheon would have fought harder for his kingship if he had this chocolate cake throne instead of the depressing iron one. This Game of Thrones cake was made by Kensei Yonzon for an unnamed client. It was probably Littlefinger.

Yonzon says, “the seat, armrests, and backrest are all cake. the swords are all chocolate fondant” while “the fondant is made from marshmallows and milk chocolate. Cake is chocolate with dark chocolate frosting.” I hope the client warned his guests that dessert was coming.

If AT-ATs Had Wheels…

…they’d look exactly like you’d think they would, as is evidenced by this 4WD off-road remote-controlled vehicle, dubbed the Imperial Crawler.

The Imperial Crawler was created by Christopher Aleria, using a customized Axial Rock Crawler as its base. If only the Empire had thought to build these instead of the wobbly-legged Imperial Walkers, they probably would have won the Battle of Hoth much quicker. Though if they made any AT-STs using similar specs, they might have turned out looking like Imperial Segways.
