Since most of my professional life revolves around website development, design and marketing, I figured it might be nice to share a list of useful online resources I’ve found useful in my travels (in no particular order).

Feel free to post a comment if you see anything that’s out of date or if you have any suggestions to add to the list.

    Conduit is pretty nice.

I planned to use it on http://www.businessentials.com too but decided on using a plugin / script for better flexibility from joomla.

I’ve looked around on the net for a useful website explaining how to make a custom search engine for my website. I take photos all around the US and would like to make a search engine that people could enter in keywords to find photos.

Do you know of a good website with a tutorial on how to make a custom search engine?

Thanks!!! I love this site…I found it last week and I have checked it almost every day!

Depends on what sort of web hosting environment you’re in, and how technical you are.

One inexpensive search application I’ve had success with in the past is the Zoom Search Engine (http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/)

If I recall properly it runs from your Windows machine to spider and index your content, then the search itself can be run as either ASP, PHP or CGI code that you install on your web server.

If you need some sort of external (hosted) search, then you might need to use something like Google Custom Search (http://www.google.com/coop/cse/), but it’s not as flexible.

    Thanks technabob!

I’ll look into it! I appreciate the information! (By the way, I’ve already told about 5 people about this website!)
