The Android operating system has been an amazing tool for innovation in smartphones, tablets, and TVs. Now it is helping to revolutionize the bartending industry, with this cocktail-mixing robot bartender called iZac.

iZac was created by Nick Johnson, who apparently likes his drinks served again and again – with no small talk. He used a Motorola Xoom and his own custom Android app for the user interface. The robot is just two rotating platforms that each hold beakers of the liquid ingredients. Other features include an aquarium pump, valves, and tubes. A digital weighing scale makes sure that the robot knows the exact amounts and proportions to give out, so drinks should be perfect.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

It’s pretty basic in design and appearance. The important thing is that it dispenses alcohol when you select and order a drink using the Xoom’s touchscreen. Then just place a glass on the scale between the platforms. The robot pours and mixes the drink. The ‘I’m feeling lucky’ option will randomly mix 3 ingredients for the brave and adventurous drinker.

When life gives you lemons, make a flaming drink. This geeky cocktail engineered by the Insatiable Geek will surely earn the approval of Aperture Science’s CEO. Or not. The man wanted something that could burn a house down after all.

To make a glass of Cave Johnson’s Combustible Lemonade, you’ll need 10 oz. lemonade, 2 oz. limoncello, 1 splash Everclear (or other grain alcohol) and a grain alcohol-soaked lemon wheel. Then prepare it like so: “Cut a lemon wheel and soak it in grain alcohol while you make the drink. Mix the lemonade and limoncello into a tall glass, then float a splash of grain alcohol on top of the drink. Place the lemon wheel on the rim of the glass and ignite the top. Admire your delicious weapon, then extinguish and drink.” Finish it one go, slam the glass down and say, “We’re done here.” Then walk away. Even if you’re at home. Just walk away. It’s more bad-ass that way.

Before you leave the club and head on over to your car to drive your tipsy self back home, I recommend that you run by your level of drunkenness via this Tokyoflash watch that has an Alcohol Test Function built within it.

Sounds like a good idea, right? Too bad that’s all this watch is right now, because it’s the latest concept design by the Tokyoflash Japan Product Design Studio.

The watch is loosely based on the same concept that breathalyzers also use. The only difference is, this one also functions as a watch and it’s also extremely portable and handy because it’s just on your wrist. To have the Tokyoflash watch analyze the alcohol content of your blood, just blow into the port and wait.

This LCD watch had a LED background which hopefully isn’t too bright, since you still have to look at it the morning after in case you’re hungover.

The following chart shows the results that you can expect after the watch has analyzed your breath for alcohol content.

I know a lot of people who would love to have this watch on their wrist.

We already showed you how to make zombie cupcakes (actually I just gave you a link to the actual instructions, but you know what I mean). Now here’s the perfect partner to that brainy pastry – the Bloody Brain Shooter.

The brain-like goo in this case is just Bailey’s Irish cream. It ends up like that because the drink itself is vodka mixed with lime juice. The lime juice causes the cream to curdle a little and voila – Baiiiiiiiileeeeeeeeeeeeyssssss. Drop by Fine Living for the complete recipe and instructions on how to make this gross undead drink.

Next time somebody serves you a glass of mystery booze at a cocktail party, whip out the Rotgutonix pen, and find out what you’re really drinking.

Just dip the Rotgutonix pen into a glass of alcohol (no mixers, please), and let it soak for 20 seconds. The pen’s liquid-crystal display will tell you if you’re about to drink some real whiskey or some nasty rotgut, it’ll tell you. While I don’t usually frequent bars that serve things in a jug marked “XXX”, apparently the serving of nasty bottom-shelf stuff in the wrong bottle is a more common practice in Europe than it is here in the States. As a matter of fact, product designer Emilio Alarcón decided to create the gadget after he had a bad run-in with a couple of glasses of headache and nausea-inducing rotgut in Spain.

Unfortunately the device can currently only detect the chemical composition of 6 brands of liquor: Johnnie Walker, JB, DYC, Havana Club, Pampero and Brugal. So if you prefer Makers Mark, or something that starts with a Glen, you’re S.O.L. for now. The good news is that makers of the Rotgutonix are working on a future update that should allow it to detect up to 20 different booze profiles.

You can find out more about the Rotgutonix over at Curiosite.

When we were kids we discovered the joys of arcade classics like Elevator Action, Lode Runner and Star Force. Years later we would discover booze, another crucial element in our pursuit of happiness/self-destruction. I’m sure you’ve spent many wasted nights wondering how you can combine the two. Well your wondering is officially over, because the Arcade Mania is here.

The Arcade Mania is a glass-top table with a built-in 150-in-1 arcade machine. Okay so the booze isn’t built-in,and technically the Arcade Mania is a coffee table, but come on man. Twinbee and tequila. Beer and B-wings. Goonies and gin. Hell, Goonies is good with anything. And yes, it supports 2 player drunken gaming. If you’re mind isn’t blown by now then you suck. I hate you. You and your healthy lifestyle.

For those whose minds are blown, the Arcade Mania can be yours for £1,660 (approx. $2,440). There’s also a stand-up version for people who like standing up more than sitting and enjoying life.
