I have a confession to make. I didn’t have time to watch Game of Thrones season one when it was first on, but I just got through all the episodes last month, and it was spectacular. I can’t wait for season two. While we all wait until April, this will have to satisfy our cravings for the House of Stark.

These crocheted amigurumi Stark family characters were made by Kati of Luna’s Crafts, and perfectly capture the personas of whole clan. There’s Ned, Catelyn, Robb, Sansa, Bran (who appears to be standing with the help of a couple of direwolf pups,) Arya (and her needle), and Jon Snow, complete with his flowing black locks and white wolf puppy, Ghost. Given the way season one ended, Eddard is looking better than we’ve seen him in a while.

Looks like this set is long gone (or was possibly a custom job), but if you’re interested in putting in a special order for yourself, you can head over to Luna’s Crafts Etsy shop and do so. Personally, I’d like a set with Tyrion Lannister, Khal Drogo, Daenerys Targaryen and her tiny dragon kids. Oh, and The Mountain. On a tiny crocheted horse.

These Baby Benders were created by Mostly Nerdy Crochet. They were commissioned by a friend, but if she was smart she kept one for herself. You might remember these guys from the Futurama episode Lethal Inspection. They look so cute made out of yarn complete with their little bottles of Mexican beer. What trouble could this pair possibly cause?

I’ve seen many a Bender creation and a ton of toy Benders, but I think these may be the cutest ever. Stuff like this just makes you smile.

A while back crafter Nerdigurumi made up a fun Big Daddy amigurumi yarn figure while she had Bioshock on the brain. Now that she’s knee-deep in playing through Portal 2, it was time for a new creation – the Portal 2 amigurumi playset.

In-between single-player sessions (thanks to the ongoing PSN outage), she took the time to create amigurumi versions of Chell (complete with Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device), and a soft and loving weighted companion cube. She originally set out to do something involving Wheatley and a turrent, but those have so far not materialized. I’d still like to see those – and maybe some blue and orange stitched portals to hang on the wall to complete the scene. And GLaDOS. Or a potato with wires sticking out of it.

If you’re dangerous enough to know your way around a roll of yarn, crocheting, and carefully bending wire, you can check out Nerdigurumi’s original post, which includes details on the patterns if you want to try and make your own.

While most of you were probably busy this past weekend killing splicers with your drill and protecting Little Sisters, one Bioshock fan out there was doing something a bit more productive.

While you were all sitting on your couches upgrading your plasmids, crafter Nerdigurumi (I love that name) got out the yarn and crocheted up this awesome little Big Daddy Bouncer in amigurumi form.

Amazingly enough, Mr. Bubbles is made almost entirely from yarn, except for the button portholes adorning his hulking (yet squishy) helmet.

Best of all, Nerdigurumi has been kind enough to share her crochet pattern for the masses out there who populate the intersection of the Venn diagram between crocheters and Bioshock fans.

Look! They do actually all come apart and everything.

You can put the goomba in the shoe and let Mario beat him down… leave the goomba out of the shoe and let Mario beat him down… really, your options for goomba-beatings are nearly endless.

I’d like to see more little sets like this! You could throw in all sorts of enemies from the Mushroom Kingdom and just let Mario and friends throw down in friendly crocheted cage-match fashion.

The world of Katamari Damacy is a strange one, to be sure, but it sure is cute. The Prince and his colorful cousins are each cuter than the others, and though the idea of sticking people and animals to a giant ball and then rolling them around is pretty horrific if you think about it, in Katamari, even this sort of dire torture manages to be adorable. So when you run across a Prince made of yarn, you know what you’re gonna get: soft and cuddly cuteness.

With these amigurumi projects, the faces are usually stylized, or at least crocheted like the rest, but perhaps with beads attached. Not so here; the Prince’s unique little features have been rendered in fabric and sewn on, for that extra touch. In the burgeoning crochet “market,” a crafter’s gotta do something to stand out. The katamari itself is just another bonus!

Just look at that. Totally better than the original.

Looks like this little guy is sold out of Michelle Rheaume’s Etsy store (and can you blame whomever bought him?), but there’s a (non-costumed) Luigi available, and patterns for all sorts of Nintendo characters–including a Boo that is so cute I’m not sure he’s actually meant for human eyes.

Not impressed yet? Well, Mr. Heart-of-Stone, try this: the patterns are free. They’re listed in Michelle’s store, but the price is naught but an e-mail.

I know we give Mario, Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Sonic plenty of geek craft love around here, but do you guys remember a little video game called Lemmings? I think I must have spent a million and one hours playing this game, despite the fact the concept really was just a 2-dimensional escort mission on steroids. Maybe that’s why I hate escort missions now.

So it’s good to see those iconic retro gaming mammals getting their due in amigurumi form. Handcrafted by June Gilbank, these little lemmings look just like their videogame counterparts, complete with fuzzy green hair, bulbous blue bodies, and tiny tools that get them out of (and occasionally into) trouble. June has lovingly recreated five of the games’ nine character types, including Walker, Floater, Blocker, Builder and Miner. Sorry, fans of Digger, Climber, Basher and Bomber will have to look elsewhere.

Want to make your own Lemmings? Head on over to Planet June for patterns and details on how to do it. Me? I think I’ll leave it to the sewing professionals. In the mean time, enjoy this fun DHTML version of Lemmings.

Oh, Samus. Even when you’re all sexed up in your Zero Suit, or Justin Baileyed into your bikini, you’re still supposed to be an icon of female strength and power (and just generally bad to the bone).
And if that’s not bad enough, here’s the least threatening Metroid ever:

Just look at those little yarn tentacle-grippy-crawly things pouring out of his mouth. Okay, actually, he’s still pretty creepy, but now in an adorable and harmless way. As long as he remains still, that is. And isn’t in the room when I have the lights off. But enough about my future nightmares: how’s he look next to the original?

So we’ve seen Left 4 Dead crochet, and now Dead Space. I’m just waiting for the amigurumi Resident Evil tableau.

…and maybe ever. What makes this particular example of Star Wars amigurumi better than, say, crochet slave Leia or an adorable Chewbacca? Buttons and fittings. Oh, not just the little shiny button eyes–those are common, and this R2D2 has his own. No, it’s the other details that make this particular crochet robot especially adorable.

Look at that retractable leg! And all the little shiny fittings! The attention to detail in this little figure is just incredible, and even more so when you think about the time that must have gone into it. Sadly, as is the case with so many amazing things that turn up on these wide Internets, no one knows just who’s responsible.

It’s official: amigurumi can make anything cute, from vomiting zombies to, well, just about everything in Moon Yen’s “Moon Buns” crochet series. The Moon Buns are all bunnies, sure, but not just any bunnies. These little guys have the soft bodies and long ears… as well as pins stuck in their faces, fangs, and occasionally, tentacles.

All sorts of critters and characters are represented in the series, from Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger and Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head (above) to classics like the shark from Jaws, the creepy twins from The Shining, and a chupacabra.

Let’s be frank here: Left 4 Dead’s zombies are kind of gross. There’s the Smoker, who has a truly gargantuan tongue that shoots out, often from some distance, only to wrap you in deadly zombie saliva, and there’s the Boomer, whose projectile vomit summons a flood of other undead, and of course, creepy Witches, massive Tanks, and annoying Hunters. Not the dudes you want to hang around with… unless they’re made of yarn (or you have a shotgun handy).

See? That amigurumi Smoker is as cute as a sweet little kitten! And he can’t grab you from across the street, either, and that makes these little crocheted figures a win. Craftster member windgie79 made these for her zombie-addicted husband for the holidays. What a lovely gift! Even the one that’s puking.

It is okay to yell, “Boomer!” if you see this little guy. It is not okay to shoot him in the face.

Crafter Sammi Resendes of Geek Central Station sure thinks that the classic sci-fi epic can be just as sweet as a roomful of cuddly kittens rolled in confectioners sugar. These handmade Amigurumi residents of the Star Wars universe are so cute they make me want to puke (it’s almost like that time a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain).

The collection of pint-sized crocheted figures include Admiral Ackbar, Leia, Chewbacca, Han Solo and Yoda, all created in stuffed form. They’re accompanied by tiny little weapons and other accessories made out of Sculpey clay.

Up next in her Star Wars series, she plans on making cute and cuddly versions of Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and R2D2. You can check out more pictures over on Flickr.

If you’d like to get your hands on some of her Amigurumi geekery for yourself, be sure to stop Sammi’s Etsy shop.
