On this day 45 years ago, television boldly went where no TV show has gone before. It was on September 8, 1966 that the world got it’s first glimpse of Star Trek and the world would never be the same. What better way to celebrate then with some Star Trek cookies in the shape of the crew.

These cookies are adorable. Too neat to eat. They come from Darla at Bakingdom. If you want to try your hand at baking these yourself, she also shows you how to do it, along with pictures of the baking process.

Dip them in some milk and bite their heads off as if you are Q toying with mere morsels. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Speaking of resistance, it’s futile when it’s comes to these cute cookies. They look a bit like South Park characters.

All you need to do is go here and follow the instructions. JibJab put this fun animated Flash app together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back.

You’ll be redirected here to upload some photos or snap a still from your webcam, and voilà, you’re ready to kick some Imperial ass. Sharing the video is free, but if you want more and would like to star in A New Hope and The Return of the Jedi, well then you’ll have to become a member of JibJab, which will cost you $12 a year.

One of the most beloved and most famous brands in music, the Walkman was the iPod of my childhood. Funny how both names make no direct reference to their products. Anyway the first ever commercially available Walkman was the TPS-L2, which was released in July 1979; it’s blue-and-silver body still looks sexy to me.

Fast forward to 2009, and after 30 years it’s quite unfortunate to see that the brand has not aged well. Its latest flag bearer – the Walkman X – is freakin’ expensive and has poor online capabilities, but at the end of the day it’s an excellent music player, and that’s what the brand is all about. To celebrate it’s 30th anniversary, Sony made a chronological montage of the bajillion iterations of the Walkman.

I wasn’t born in ’79 but I’d be lying if I said that I don’t recognize almost all of those models. This is how a techie like me knows he’s getting old, by the number of models that a gadget has had in his lifetime. Dammit. At least I can say that I’m just 3 PlayStations old. Or is it 7 PlayStations?

It just dawned on me that Technabob just hit its one year anniversary! That’s right, it was just about a year ago that I posted my very first story, and now I’m approaching my 1,000th.

In that time, Technabob has gone from a handful of visits from family and friends to over 100,000 readers each month from all around the globe. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who stops by and reads my posts, and especially to those of you who decide to return on a regular basis.
