I’d like to send greetings and salutations to Technabob’s new contributing writer, Chris Holzworth.

Student journalist. Avid video game player. Contributor extraordinaire. Aviator aficionado. Chris fancies himself an enigma wrapped in mystery, a creature of diversity who despises perpetuating nerdy stereotypes.

Currently, Chris is a student of journalism and English at Rutgers University. And while Chris’s experience may lie primarily with video games (he currently reports news at Kombo, writes a biweekly column at The Wiire, contributes to Geekadelphia, and runs his own gaming blog new game +) he is a multi-faceted geek. Not many people have the audacity to print out a photo of Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, take it to their hair stylist, and request that they make him pretty enough to command the Enterprise.

But Chris did.

Besides video games, Chris adores science fiction, robots, katanas, and almost anything set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

If you guys have a second to spare out of your busy lives, please drop a comment below and welcome Chris to our evil little empire.

Alisha comes to Technabob after a long history of blogging, and she will be working her poor fingers to the bone to bring you lots of weird and wacky geek content.

She currently writes for Wii Fanboy, DS Fanboy, and Tiny Cartridge, and she is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Her most important job, however, is helping her husband chase after their ten month old son, Jack. He’s not a gamer (yet), but he does like to make zombie noises. Alisha is very proud.

In the four minutes of spare time she has in the middle of the night, Alisha also writes fiction, but never, ever poetry. The world is a better place without her poetry, which once killed a kitten at fifteen paces.

If you’ve got a second to spare, leave a comment below, and say howdy to Alisha.

I’d like to take a moment to welcome Lambert Varias as the latest member of Technabob’s crack writing team (by that, I mean sharp, intelligent authors, not writers on crack). Lambert will be a regular contributing author on Technabob, so keep your eyes peeled for his latest posts.

Lambert is a Creative Writing major at the University of the Philippines, where he has been an undergraduate for as long as the current Philippine president has been president. Physically ugly but lyrically handsome, Lambert is willing to sell his future children if Dave Eggers, Dave Barry, David Sedaris and Dav… Conan O’ Brien would get together and make a book, a movie, a sandwich, anything, as long as they collaborate.

He’s glad to be part of technabob and hopes to make more things for you to read and comment on.

Also, Cash for laptops says that his iBook is worth $5. Which is why he thinks it’s amazing what $5 gets you these days, considering the brokers with their hands on their faces type of economy we face today.

I’d like to send a warm welcome to the latest and greatest member of the Technabob family, Karen Merzenich. Karen has just joined our writing team, bringing her unique viewpoint and wit to the pages of this humble little website.

She joins the Technabob ranks as a contributing author, and will be helping to bring you lots of offbeat and entertaining geek craft, design, and other fun stuff.

Karen is the founder and owner of MailboxTees, a t-shirt subscription service, and writes about tech, design, art, and shopping for the MailboxTees blog.

A former pastry chef, she also writes about food and cooking on off the (meat)hook. People are surprised to learn that this seemingly normal lass is actually a closeted sci-fi geek who has a full-size Galaga arcade game in her guest room, and who spends many a day and night trolling the deepest, darkest corners of the internet for obscure Stargate fan fiction.

Here are just a few of her initial Technabob posts, (with many more to come):

Humanoid Robot Learns to Make an Omelet

Legend of Zelda Shoes for all you Link Wannabees

Control your TV with your Watch; Look Like a Dork

Anyone with a real live Galaga machine in their guest bedroom is cool in my book.

[Be sure to check out Karen's other websites: MailboxTees, MailboxTees blog, and off the (meat)hook.]

I can hardly believe it myself, but Technabob is almost two years old, and with hundreds of thousands of readers each month, I’ve decided that we’re getting big enough that it’s time to add at least one new part-time writer into the mix.

Up until now, I’ve written 99.9% of Technabob’s 2000+ stories myself. While I really want to be a total control freak, I’ve realized that my readers crave more content than I can handle all by my little old self. That said, I’m certain that at least one of you out there is up to the challenge of finding wondrous new geekery and weird science.

If you’re convinced that you know your stuff in video games, gadgets, electronics, hack & mods, or generally offbeat techie stuff, you could be the chosen one. You’ll need to be able to source (at least some of) your own stories, have a witty, irreverant or otherwise sharp-as-a-tack writing style, and it won’t hurt if you’ve got a little experience cropping and scaling images using Photoshop, Picnik or the like.

I’ll tell you in advance that blogging for Technabob won’t make you wealthy, but it’s a great opportunity to expose your writing talents to tons of people, and if you happen to write your own blog, it’s a nice way to get a bit of extra traffic.

Ready to throw your hat into the ring? Just e-mail an appropriate writing sample or two to tips@technabob.com, along with your contact information, and a brief explanation of why you think you’d be the ideal addition to the Technabob editorial crew.
