Bandai Mousou Mini Controllers Play Your Arcade Favorites, but Not Really

How’d you like to take some of your favorite classic arcade games and carry them around on your keychain? What if I told you that you couldn’t actually see what you were doing, but just hear it? Well that’s pretty much what you get with these new mini controllers.

Bandai’s new Mousou mini arcade controllers don’t let you see the on-screen action, but they do let you play all of the sounds of the arcade originals.

Each button press and combo works just like the originals – just without the benefit of a screen. The initial batch of Mousou controllers includes three arcade classics: Xevious, Street Fighter II and Famista (a classic Namco/Nintendo baseball game from Japan).

The guys over at Japan Trend Shop are taking pre-orders for the Bandai Mousou controllers in sets of three, including all three games, and your choice of three different SFII character sets: Ken/E Honda/Guile, Ryu/Blanka/Sagat, or Dhalsim/Balrog/Chun-Li. The set of three is selling for $44 (USD) and they should start shipping on March 20.

If you’re fortunate enough to live in Japan, you can order them individually at the Bandai shop for just 888 Japanese Yen (appx. $10 USD) each.

Quick survey! Which would you prefer? Sparkly albino vampire vs. dirty raggedy vampire baseball, or Jedi vs. Sith baseball? In other words, are you a young girl or are you an old nerd? Don’t say “both”. Because I have no vampire stuff right now, only these cool Drew Pearson Star Wars jerseys.

These cotton knit baseball jerseys from Drew Pearson Marketing feature the strongest of the strong in Soul Calibur. I meant in Star Wars. The Jedi jersey’s number is done in felt applique,while the letters are in tackle twill with satin stitch embroidery. I don’t know what that means but you might. What’s weird though is that the only available sizes are M, L, XL and XXL. Come on Drew Pearson Marketing. Yoda is XXXS. A bit of respect here.

If you like playing for the dark side, then the Sith jersey is for you. It’s also a cotton knit jersey with all numbers and letters done in felt applique. Both Sith and Jedi jerseys have “official woven loop” Star Wars labels on them. What makes the label official? I don’t know. Trade Federation approval?

The Vader hockey jersey is more Dark Side-y than the baseball one. It has “flaming Vader” graphics, and on the sleeves there are tiny “Sith League” logos set off by metal studs. And on the front is a mugshot of a genocidal man.

For those who prefer a game of hoops, and by that I mean either 2k9 or Live, I have two words for you: Rocket Pack.

The new Ambient Devices Baseball ScoreCast receives a digital radio-frequency broadcast to update with the latest scores every half-inning. It’ll even tell your the current standings for your team’s division as they race towards the Pennant.

Keep in mind that Ambient’s wireless data network covers only 90% of the U.S., so be sure to check coverage before buying. Expect the device to hit stores just in time for the 2008 baseball season for about $125.
