Apparently, there’s a lot of people who have similar routines when they wake up in the morning with just a few minutes to spare to get their bed heads in order. People like Max Velverde.

Max has had some hectic mornings himself, which prompted him to come up with Morning Head. Basically, it’s a polyurethane cap with a super absorbent cloth lining on the inside. Just pour water into it, put it over your head, rub it around as if you were shampooing, and remove it to reveal a full head of wet hair – in as little as five seconds.

If you’re interested in backing this project, head on over to Kickstarter to do so. Those who make a pledge of at least $10(USD) will be able to get two of these Morning Heads sent their way.

That’s probably what Oliver Voss was thinking when he made and positioned this giant statue in Hamburg’s Alster Lake on August 3 – and it will stay there on display until August 12.

The sculpture is called the “Die Badende,” which is German for “the bather.” Others have called it the ”Badenixe,” which means “bathing beauty.” This beaute rises around four feet tall from the water surface, making it extremely noticeable and quite a sight to behold for passing boats and tourists.

It’s not very mermaid-like though, because as you can see, there are two humongous knobs directly in front of her, and I don’t think those are her elbows.

Die Badende was formed from a steel cage, that was covered with polystyrene, polyester resin, and then finished off with a coat of paint. And although she’s hollow, she weighs a ton – actually two, that is.

So what better way for you to get that time and space funk off but with a bar of TARDIS soap.

While it’s unclear if this TARDIS (Type 40 TT) soap bar is any larger on the inside than out, it’s a sure thing that it smells like roses (not Rose Tyler, although I have it on good authority that she smells like daisies.) Each bar measures 4.5″ tall by 2″ square, and weighs in at a substantial 8.5 oz. Each one is made by Etsy seller Luxury Lane Soap using environmentally-friendly natural ingredients, and they’ve never been tested on animals (nor was the TARDIS for that matter).

The TARDIS Type 40 TT soap sells for $16.99 (USD) over on Etsy.

The iDuck Wireless Speaker is shaped like a rubber ducky and hearkens back to when you were taking a bath as a kid. It’s got a speaker that can play tunes from your MP3 player, iPod, or iPhone, thanks to an egg-shaped transmitter that connects to your media player’s 3.5mm jack, and sits safely out of harm’s way.

The duck needs 4 “AAA” batteries and the egg needs 3 of them, but that’s not a bad tradeoff considering that you are saving your iPhone from water damage. The iDuck sells for £25 ($40 USD) from Totally Funky. I guess that waterproof earphones with a waterproof pouch would also do the trick, but Ernie only approves of this one.

Rarely seen on the deck of the Enterprise, these toasty terrycloth robes must have been used by the crew when they had some downtime between missions.

The robes are available in both Captain Kirk Yellow and Commander Spock Blue, and have the appropriate rank/department insignias and armbands for added accuracy – and we know how important those are to this guy. They’re available from ThinkGeek for $49.99 (USD), but are currently on backorder for a couple of weeks.

Researchers at the Healthcare Robotics Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology have designed a prototype robot that can help patients maintain personal hygiene without need to a human nurse. The machine currently dons a washcloth in its grippy hand and uses a camera and laser range finder to figure the dirty spots to clean. The secret-sauce of this ‘bot, of course, is its ability to be gentle enough not to injure the patient it’s cleaning.

At this point, the robot still requires a human operator to tell it the general area to clean, but I can certainly envision a day when these things will drive up and down the hallways of hospitals, offering car wash-like services to patients. Maybe they’ll even teach it to give patients a Happy Ending for an extra charge. Look it up.

What’s especially cool about these soaps is that some of the more gnarly strains actually glow in the dark. These handmade soaps are available in a variety of “infected” flavors, including E. Coli, H. influenzae, Serratia marcescens and Salmonella. Yummy. Nothing like getting clean by lathering up with germs!

The guys over at eatsleepshop sell these soaps for just $3 (USD) each, and they look great in any old-school gamer’s bathroom. While you can’t actually play Pitfall or E.T. with one of these in your hands, you can keep yourself nice and clean, and enjoy a fruity grape scent while you soak. In addition to the grape aroma, they’re loaded up with such delectable ingredients as Sodium Stearate, Propylene Glycol and Tetrasodium Etidronate. I bet you won’t find any of those in your classic 8-bit controller.

And no matter how tempting it might be, please do not submerge your Atari 2600 console in your tub.

These Jedi bath robes are made from soft cotton velour, which is the first thing that comes to mind when I think “Jedi”. As a matter of fact, I think Old Ben Kenobi once said something like “A Jedi can feel the Force flowing through his velour robe.” But I could be remembering the line wrong.

The Jedi bath robe is available for pre-order now over at Find Me a Gift, and sells for £59.99 (appx. $95 USD). Just remember not to use your lightsaber in the tub or you might electrocute yourself.

It’s the perfect complement to any video game themed bathroom (you know you want one). It would look great alongside a Mario Kleenex box or with Pac-Man tile work or a Donkey Kong Junior shower for instance.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to buy one. From everything I can tell, the design comes from artist Jordi Alacont for a product line called Stickwalls. But there’s no information on where to buy, how much they cost or if this was just a custom one-off. Damned invaders!

The One is a mere 1″ thick, and it already comes with a mirror for easy setup. It’s a widescreen LCD TV that supports up to 1080p, with a built-in TV tuner and 25-watt speaker. Seura doesn’t have high resolution images of The One, so I suggest you take a look at the video in their website for a better look – it’s in the May 2009 video. The One is priced at $3,500 (USD), more than the cost of a couple of 52-in LCD TVs, but hey, it’s in a freakin’ mirror right? Right. Have your butler check out Seura’s website for more details.

But unlike conventional (or organic) fruit, these oversize citrus have an array of colorful LEDs that light up the segments of fruit, and project patterns onto the walls and ceiling of your bathroom.

Fruit Palette fruits are available in Lemon Yellow, Pink Grapefruit and Lime Green Lime varieties, but I bet if you try and take a bite out of any of these, they’d all taste the same – like plastic.

Not one, not two, not three, but no less than four crafters are now making soapy versions of the  iconic retro gaming aliens.

Pictured above are tiny little 1″ green invaders from CrazyKBathandBody.  And if classic green isn’t your bag, you can grab them in bright and fragrant colors like galactic grape, orbit orange, cosmic cherry and blast-off blueberry.

Still, none of the over 450 available fragrances smell anything like a green space alien. If you’re looking for something a little more politically correct, you might want to check out these vegan invaders from DirtyAssSoaps (I would imagine after you use these, you should have a CleanAss, no?)

Makers of amazing video game controller soaps, Digitalsoaps has even jumped on the Invaders soap bandwagon with these colorful jeweltone aliens.

Last but not least are BunnyBubble’s invaders, who come entombed inside of a clear soap bar, and feature a delightful grapefruit scent. I wonder if the invaders inside the bar survive as the clear part melts away, or if they die a slimy mushy death as you work your way through the soap.

Of course, with thousands of new listings each day over on Etsy, you should probably just run a search, and you’ll turn up new Space Invaders on your soap mission. Next up, Tetris.

Crosswater’s RIO shower head is loaded with 96 computer-controlled LEDs in red, green and blue clusters so they can be mixed to create just about any color in the spectrum. Each one is focused to illuminate a powerful stream of water coming out of the 15-inch diameter shower head’s hundreds of needle-thin jets.

Now while this thing looks really cool, and I’d love to take a shower under one of these, I think I’ll have to pass for now. You see, the RIO retails for the insane price of £2799 (about $4454 USD). I could probably get a entire bathroom gut-remodeled for that much coin.

Created by Japan’s I Love New Yoku, the Projector Pot (Relaxing Ocean) transports you to the open seas any time you dim the lights. Just set the Projector Pot on any surface, power it on, and turn down your lights. The 4-inch cube has a bright battery-powered LED light source that casts moving patterns that are reminiscent of water reflections off the top of a body of water.

Now the bad part is that unless you live in Japan, you’ll have to wait to relax. At this point, the Projector Pot is only available in its native land (priced at ¥3990 – appx $40 USD). I’m hopeful that the guys over at Audiocubes will bring these into the States, as they’re already importing other goodies from the same company. For the time being, you’ll just have to go to the real ocean.

Imagine the surprise of your roommate when they wake up tomorrow morning to find this Blood Bath shower curtain hanging in place of the old one. Whether they think Anthony Perkins came back to life to stab you to death or there was a midnight zombie attack, who cares? Either way, it’s bound to provoke a reaction.

To complete the effect, be sure to mix up some Karo syrup and red food coloring and splatter some down in the drain. Maybe a few drips on the floor, leading to the toilet too. If you’d rather save yourself the mess, you could also pick up this matching bloody bath mat.

The guys over at UK gift maker SpinningHat came up with these sick and twisted things, and I love them for it. I found the shower curtain over at ParamountZone for just £8.99 (appx. $13 USD) – but there’s no word on when they’ll start stocking the matching bath mat.

Digitalsoap’s Playstation Dual Shock controller soap doesn’t play games, but it does help you keep squeaky clean. Plus, it’s most definitely wireless.

Using a wireless RF transmitter, you can make the yellow aquatic bird tool around as you splish-splash in your bath. A pair of motorized propellers moves the little guy through the water, and let you steer duckie to the left, right, forwards or backwards. A quick 5-minute charge will give you about 15-minutes of bathtime fun. And yes, both the duck and controller are waterproof, so there’s no worries about electrocuting yourself.

When Victor’s XA-AQ33-W media player isn’t swimming around the bathtub with you, it can head to dry dock in a stand that sits on your bedside table. The player does its job to play up to 256MB of MP3 and WMA music through a built-in amplified speaker. It’s also got LED illumination underneath, producing a cool glow of blue light. There’s even a handful of pre-installed “relaxation tunes” to help you chill out.

The player runs on batteries, so you can even take it out to the pool if you’d like (not that I’d ever use something that plugs into an outlet in the tub). You should get about 15 hours of play on a single set of batteries.

The whole thing looks a bit spacecraft-like to me, making it perfect for that outer-space themed room I know you’re just dying to decorate.
