Transparent Stained Glass Prints Hang in the Church of Geek

You don’t have to be religious at all to enjoy these fantasy prints designed to look like stained glass windows. Created by Marissa Garner of Fay Productions, they incorporate a variety of entertaining subjects from Batman to My Little Pony.

Despite just being ink on transparency paper, they’re designed to be taped up to your window or a light box to create a cool stained glass effect.

My personal favorite is the one with characters from the Batman comic book universe, but Spider-Man fans will be happy to Marissa’s got you and your web-slinging hero covered. Though there’s not quite enough room for all of Doc Ock’s tentacles.

Or if you fancy the original X-Men, you can get Iceman, Miss Marvel/Jean Grey, Cyclops, Angel and Beast to hang up too. You’ve gotta love Professor Xavier filling everyone’s minds from the center.

Of course if you’ve got a little girl – or just appreciate the kitsch factor, skip the superheroes, and head straight for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic print. It’s awesome in its own special way. The only thing better would be for this to be made out of actual stained glass. Or for real ponies to look like this.

Prices for a full print range from $15(USD) for a 7.5″ x 10″ to $25 for an 11″ x 14″ version. You can also purchase a 10″ x 10″ of the round window part only, with the individual characters from the narrow sections below selling for $4 each. Batman Ceiling Fan: Alfred Approved

It probably stays pretty cool in the Batcave, but just in case your dwelling isn’t so dark and climate controlled, check out this cool Batman ceiling fan. It’s probably the only Batman fan that hasn’t been talking about the new movie.

These Batman replacement fan blades are made from 1/4 inch Birch ply and will fit 52″ Fans. They’re offered in sets of 4, 5 or 6 blades, are supposed to move the air just as well as standard blades. Unfortunately they’re currently sold out, but it is so cool that I had to share it. And besides, maybe if you pester the seller enough, TheAtomicLounge on Etsy, they will make another set for you.

You buy them, then have your butler install and clean them. That’s how it works. You have crime to fight after all.

Fully Functioning Batmobile Replica Lets You Ride Home In Style

This officially-licensed 1966 Batmobile replica isn’t as destructive as the 21st century Batman’s Tumbler, but at least you can drive this one on the streets. Imagine riding this home for the holidays this year. You’ll be a smash, but only if you live some place warm because even if it has a flamethrower, you’ll get a bit cold and wet if you’re not careful enough.

This road-worthy Batmobile replica was built with a 3.5 Liter GM350 Crate engine and comes complete with a rocket exhaust flamethrower. It makes you wonder how that passed the DMV inspection. It also has roll-top dashboard doors, a flashing red beacon, a Bat Phone, an automatic Batbeam antenna grid and a glowing Detect-a-Scope radar screen, whatever those are.

The Batmobile’s 280hp engine will take you from 0-to-60 in 5 seconds, and to a top speed of 90mph (better hope the criminals can’t outrun you.) Oh yeah, and it gets 9 miles per gallon, so you’ll be heading to the Bat Gas Station frequently. You can get yours directly from Firebox for the low price of £120,000 (~$188,000 USD). Enough said!

Quick Robin, to the Batcave, DLC

This one is for you Batman fans. If you’ve been playing Batman: Arkham City, (Of course you have been) it might be time to check out the new Challenge Map Pack DLC, which includes Batman’s lair: the Batcave.

The Challenge Map DLC Pack for Batman: Arkham City includes a new bat-suit, The Joker’s Carnival Challenge Map, Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map, and a new invisible predator challenge map.

Custom LEGO Batman Tumbler Up for Sale

With The Dark Knight Rises coming out next Spring, I’ve got Batman on the brain. So I was pretty stoked when I saw this cool creation over on Etsy. It’s Batman’s Tumbler Batmobile, made out of LEGO bricks.

This Tumbler was created by LEGO builder ClickBrickDesigns, and looks just like the one from the movies. It measutes about 6.5″(L) x 5.5″(W) x 2.5″(H), and is built from over 170 LEGO bricks, along with some special, hard-to-find components.

It’s really accurate, including a detailed dashboard with joysticks, movable airfoils, and room for two Minifigs inside (you’ll have to provide those – Batman isn’t included). It even has the proper tires. ClickBrick has also gone ahead and glued together some of the key locations with E-6000 adhesive (which apparently doesn’t hurt the bricks.)

If you consider yourself a major Batfan, head on over to Etsy now and pony up your $55(USD) to secure this for your collection.

I’ve always wished that LEGO would keep selling their official Batmobile Tumbler kit, but the only kit they ever sold is now a rarity, going for hundreds of dollars on eBay and Amazon these days. Besides, I think this all-black handmade version looks cooler anyhow.

Nokia Reveals Lumia 800 Dark Knight Rises Edition Smartphone

Man, I can’t wait for the new Dark Knight Rises movie. With the arrival of Bane, there is going to be some serious chaos in Gotham this time. And to celebrate the movie, Nokia will be releasing a special edition of the Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone smartphone: the Nokia Lumia 800 Dark Knight Rises edition.

It will be an extremely limited edition, with only 40 handsets being made. We really don’t have much info about this special edition handset – as if we will have a chance to buy one anyhow.

We do know that it features the familiar bat-logo on the back, along with Dark Knight packaging and there is a movie tie-in Live Tile visible on the screen in the video. They are certain to be super expensive if you ever do have a chance to buy one, and they don’t just end up being some sort of prize in a movie promotion.

Diesel Introduces Underwear That’s Fun to Wear: DC Comics Undies

Comic books are cool. I love Batman, The Flash and all the rest, but personally I draw the line at Superhero undies. But if you want a case of comic book crotch, you’ll be happy to know that Diesel has unveiled a line of superhero themed boxer briefs.

These boxers are all based on DC Comics characters. You can get Batman, Green Lantern and The Flash themed undies, as well as The Joker – but he’s not a superhero, so what is he doing in your underwear? They won’t give you super-powers, they will just make you feel like they do. Unless, that is, you consider light or temperature-sensitive prints that only show up under your own body heat, or designs that reveal themselves after time to be super-powers.

The Flash version is probably the coolest, since you don’t want those tacky Joker colors on your junk and also probably don’t want a Batsignal tramp stamp behind you. You can check them all out here. It looks like they will cost you $34(USD) a pair and some shameful looks from your girlfriend. Girlfriend. That’s funny.

You have the night off from fighting crime and you want nothing more than to kick back, relax and watch some TV. But it’s chilly. No worries. Just have Alfred fetch your Snuggie-style Batman Blanket with Sleeves and get nice and cozy.

This adult sized Batman blanket is probably super warm and even has sleeves, so that you will always be ready to fight crime, even if all that involves is turning off some bad programming on the TV. Best blanket ever? Could be. Now all you need is a Catwoman version so that your wife or girlfriend can snuggle up with you.

Look at that guy in the pic. He thinks he’s alone in his home. He has no idea that we can see him looking all dorky. His wife probably left him, this being the last straw. He really should have stopped at the Batman undies. He’s probably watching Batman too. What a freak.

Batarang Controllers for Arkham City: Holy Controller, Batman!

Your Batman: Arkham City Experience just got a lot neater. Power A has a new Batarang controller for you would-be caped crusaders who own either a Sony PS3 or an Xbox 360. They look pretty sweet and are perfect for your Bat-cave.

Of course, it’s all fun and games (and neat controllers) until your back gets broken by Bane. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. These wireless controllers sport LED lights in seven interchangeable colors. Other than the soft hand-grips, you get the same functionality as the standard controllers, so nothing fancy as far as use. They just look really neat.

The Batman: Arkham City game was just released on Oct. 18th, so the time is right to pick up one of these babies and talk in Christian Bale’s gravelly voice while you play. What, I’m the only one planning on doing that?

The Dark Knight Fails: Battman Xbox Bundle with PS1 Controllers

Would you look at this abomination. This is a knockoff/ripoff “Battman” console whose origins are unknown, though it’s clear from the “Made in China” sticker that it came from somewhere in that part of the world.

It’s almost as bad as that 1990s disaster of a movie on it’s cover. Inside you will find a Christmas colored (fake) original Xbox (I guess it matches the boy wonder’s colors), two PS1-style controllers and a cheap-ass gun accessory.

And here I thought that nothing could be worse than George Clooney as Batman. I’m sure that a bunch of Microsoft lawyers are probably already all over this thing. To top it all off, the company name on the box is “Unique”. There’s nothing unique about throwing an Xbox and some PS1 controllers together in a box.

Superhero Fetuses: Destined for Greatness

Ever wondered what your favorite superhero looked like as a baby? How about a fetus? French artist Alexandre Nicolas asked himself that same question, which is why he came up with the arcane sculptures that depict some of the world’s favorite superheroes as fetuses.

These sculptures are part of his Prédestinées (predestined) series, and they are quite interesting. You’ll find Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, the Silver Surfer, the Hulk, Catwoman, and Spider-Man. There’s also a Hitler fetus, although that one is a bit more disturbing – and he was anything but a superhero.

“Creation and its risks”, that how Alexandre introduces his series of sculptures. The sculptures were created in 2008 and weigh about 40lbs each. They are currently on display at the Xavier Ronse gallery in Belgium.

Another Villain Revealed for Batman: Arkham City

Man, the Batman: Arkham City game is getting crowded. But that’s a good thing. It means that Batman will be very busy and it should be an awesome game. Rocksteady has revealed another villain from the game. We already have Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, The Riddler and Two Face plus others. It’s looking like the entire Rogue’s gallery might be in the game.

So who else is going to be in the game? Well, we now know that Deadshot will make an appearance, armed with wrist-mounted guns, sidearms and a sniper rifle. As you might expect, just like in the previous game, you’ll need to use Batman’s detective mode to track some people down. With Deadshot, you’ll need to enter detective mode in order to spot his bullets, then you can track him.

Batman: Arkham City will arrive on October 18 in America, a day later in Australia, and on October 21 in Europe for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. I can’t wait.

13-Year-Old Sculpts Life-Size LEGO Batman

It’s not enough that this 6-foot-tall LEGO Batman looks totally awesome, but the fact that it was built by a 13-year-old makes it even more impressive to me. Maybe it’s just that when I was a kid, my LEGO building abilities were pretty much limited to whatever the picture on the box showed. And when I was a teenager, there’s no way I had the attention span to do anything so complex.

LEGO fanatic Evan Bacon built this life-size Batman using somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 bricks (I guess you start to lose count at those sort of numbers), and took him about 3 months to build it.

While it does look foreboding, LEGO Batman actually weighs only 60 pounds, since his insides are hollow. Something about a full-scale Batman that’s light enough to carry around with you that makes it even more special. Heck, as you can see from the photo below, even Adam West himself was impressed.

Evan’s Batman creation actually won three awards at the Austin, Texas Brick Fiesta this Summer – clearly well deserved in my opinion. Check out more pictures over on Evan’s website BaconBricks and on yfrog.

Batman Bat Signal Keychain: May or May Not Summon Batman

I’m not really a comic geek so pardon me if this has been addressed in canon, but I’ve always wondered why only the Gotham PD had a bat signal. Wouldn’t ordinary citizens have a higher chance of actually needing the Batman to protect them from the horrors of Gotham City? If I lived in Gotham I sure as hell would order this Bat Signal Keychain.

The die-cast keychain measures about 3″ x 1.25″ and is modeled after the Batarangs that the Christian Bale Batman uses. The keychain button activates the bat signal, although kids, I hate to be the one to break it to you – you’ll have a higher chance of using the keychain as a boomerang than actually summoning the Dark Knight. That’s because he doesn’t – AAAAAaackkkkkk I’m sorry AAA YES YES YES I SWEAR TO YOU.

Custom Batman: Arkham City Xbox 360 Slim

I can not wait until the next Batman movie. At least we have Arkham City to tide us over until 2012, when we can finally see The Dark Knight Rises. As an added treat we also now have this custom Arkham City Xbox 360 console to drool over.

The artwork on this one is awesome. Batman isn’t fooling around. In fact, he looks downright pissed off. The front side shows the game’s logo. On the opposite side, the Joker can be seen looking downright evil. Not that we’ve ever seen him look like anything else.

Holy LEGO Batcave, Batman!

Here’s yet another incredible LEGO build that I’d love to see up close and personal. This time, we’ve got the Batcave, loaded with tons of cool Batdetails by LEGO fanatic Orion Pax.

The Batcave was built out of somewhere between 8 to 9000 individual LEGOs and stands 68 bricks high. I’m not sure how many feet that translates to, but it sure looks substantial to me. Inside the cave there are all sorts of cool details, including various Batgadgets, the Batcomputer hanging bats, the Batmobile, and of course The Dark Knight himself. I even thought Robin made an appearance, but I think that’s just his empty costume hanging there.

The whole thing even has some awesome neon backlighting to bring it to life. It took Orion about a week to build the whole thing, which I think is really impressive. I think it would take me a year to do the same, and it wouldn’t look nearly as cool.

Turbine-Powered Batmobile Hits the Streets

I will admit that while I have seen all of the Batman flicks they have all been crazy cheesy until Christian Bale took over in the recent Christopher Nolan-helmed films. Bale and Nolan took Batman and made it much more real and gritty. I loved The Dark Knight, and the Tumbler the Batmobile became in the film was just awesome. I never liked the cartoon-style winged Batmobile that Michael Keaton drove in the early films.

I do still have a great appreciation for the replica of that winged Batmobile that you see here. Not only does it look like the real Batmobile from the flick, but the car is actually powered by a turbine! In fact, the owner claims that it is the world’s only replica to be powered by a turbine. Watch it in action below, and just listen to that sound!

The car’s owner is Casey Putsch, who owns Putsch Racing. He constructed the car and made it look just like the one Keaton drove in the flick from 1989. The car is massive at 20-feet long and 7-feet 5-inches long.

Look closely at the interior and you will note an iPad there for some of the gauges. The car even has IR and visible light cameras along with a fire suppression system. I would love to know how fast the car can go.

Sony Giving Away Free Batman Stuff to Make Up for Bad PSN Service? That’s Fine By Me.

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has had a few rough weeks. Aside from the much publicized announcement by hacker group Anonymous about an impending take-down of the company’s sites because of the action they took against another hacker, Geohot, they recently had to hurdle another attack on their system where the perpetrator’s walked away with over 12,700 credit card numbers and information from 24.6 million user accounts. Other than the attacks, the company’s PlayStation Network also experienced some intermittent service due to server upgrades, much to the inconvenience of a lot of gamers.

So what does SOE do? Give away free stuff, that’s what!

If you were one of the users who was affected by these, then you’re set to receive a free Batman-inspired mask and 30 days of subscription credit (plus one day for each day that you were unable to access the service.) Further information on how you can get your hands on these masks will be made available soon by Sony.

Now that’s how an apology should be done. Maybe a cape would be in order for next time?

Pixelated Comic Book Superheroes: Let’s Hope the Movies Are as Awesome as These Posters

While I don’t know how good some of these movies will be, I know that hopes are high that The Dark Knight Rises is going to be awesome. Since Thor will lead Marvel Studios to their Avengers movie. I am unsure of the result, but needless to say these pseudo-pixel posters for these upcoming comic book superhero movies look pretty amazing.

These posters were created by Michael B. Myers and you can check him out over on Behance. Myers is an illustrator for hire and he’s got a shine for superheroes (and pixels). I wouldn’t mind seeing him ‘render’ other superheroes and/or movie posters this way.

You can buy some of Myers’ prints here but his pseudo-pixel movie posters haven’t been added there yet.
