This promotional flash drive comes filled with a tiny bit of beer, complete with foamy head. For the low, low price, of $14 to $17 each, you can order up a batch of at least 25 of these lowly 4GB flash drives filled with this foamy yellow substance that I’m not even sure is really beer. Either way, it’s a crappy low capacity flash drive, filled with some yellow fluid you’d never want to drink or accidentally have spill into your computer. Sounds just like the kind of thing I’d never buy.

A quirky solution? The Photoblocker Beer Cooler.

The Norte Photoblocker was created for an ad campaign of Norte Beer, a South American brewer. The cooler has been equipped with a sensor that detects when a flash is fired from a camera. Once it does, it emits a flash of its own – ruining the picture and saving your job/relationship/friendships/reputation in the process.

In case you’re wondering, the ones behind the Photoblocker Beer Cooler are the fine folks from Argentinian ad agency Del Campo/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, and yes, they have actually made some of these and provided them to nightclubs already.

The Opena case is a mild mannered looking iPhone case on the front, but flip it over and out pops your your party side. While the iOpena isn’t the first bottle-opening iPhone case we’ve seen, the case design definitely looks nicer than that cheap one we featured last year.

The case is made from polycarbonate. The bottle opener part is made from stainless steel. It comes in black or white and sells for $39.95 Australian Dollars, or about $39 (USD) over at Opena’s website.

It’s not cheap, but at least you will be able to open that beer for your pals when needed. And that’s got to be more important than having a phone that runs longer to most party fiends.

Made by the folks at redpepper, the whole set-up may look like part of a Rube Goldberg machine, but it’s actually pretty simple. But not so simple that I’d be able to make my own Beeri, even if all the materials were given to me and the instructions were relayed to me in the form of a children’s song. The first part of Beeri is a Twitter account. That’s the link between the robot and Siri. The real world link is Beeri’s monster truck. Powered by an Arduino Uno equipped with a WiFly Shield, the truck scans the Twitter account for a tweet with the word “pour” on it, upon which it will deliver the beer in a very monster trucky way:

The idea is that you drink a shot of beer every time the song changes. That should get you good and pissed in no time. You get songs like “I’m Fine Occifer” and “You Won’t Remember This Song.” The shot glass also has a lanyard, which will come in handy as you are staggering about and puking. Whenever presented with the Tecate, he’s like transfixed. His eyes follow it everywhere. He wants some of that liquid crack. It’s maddening. He runs to it and just stands over it as if saying, “My precious”. One of the laughing enablers picks him up by the neck and he is still running toward that sweet nectar. Running in the air! Darwin has it bad.

Finally the little bot can’t take it anymore. He has had enough. If he can’t have that joy juice, nobody will have it. He starts kicking the can, all pissed off. I don’t blame him. Poor little guy needs him some rehab.

I think the entire costume is great, all except for the mask that takes the whole Party Animal theme a bit too seriously and literally. It comes with a beverage belt so you can carry all your booze on the go, a shot glass, the shirt, and a pair of checkered shorts. The whole set is available from Amazon for around $40 to $60.

One thing that annoys me a lot when I’m out, however, is when I see plastic bags and beer cans and all sorts of other trash just wash up on the shore.

Maybe these guys saw the same thing and decided that they should do something about it. And do something they did with this surf board that’s made out of 72 beer cans, some polyurethane, and a whole lot of epoxy.

The board is a collaboration between artist Rich Morrison and surfboard maker Gary Seagraves in Morrison’s Enviro Surf Art series. The 6’2″ surfboard features a rocket fish design with twin fins and a swallow tail. Morrison says that the beer cans were collected from a local bar in his neighborhood.

I wish I can give it a go or two on that surfboard. Even though I’ll probably still fall off or flip over, at least I can say that I once surfed on a board of beer cans–and that it was good.

The Heineken beer robot was built by the Autonomous Systems Lab at Middlesex University, and has at its core a Heineken 5L DraughtKeg. It’s powered by a pair of 12VDC motors, one servo, infrared and ultrasonic sensors, and has Pic-based processor for a brain. When fully-loaded with a keg, measures 15.75″ (H) x 11.8″ (W) x 11.8″ (D), and pours a perfect glass of beer every time.

We’re not sure if the guys who built it are making more than one of these, or if Kinetica is selling off the original, but the Heineken Beerbot is available for purchase in their shop for £2,195.00 (~$3615 USD). Before you empty your checking account, check it out in action below:

Time to take out a second mortgage, I suppose.

The artist made a pyramid out of cases of bottled beer for an art project displayed at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin. Each of the blue cubes you see is a case of the imported Turkish beer called Efes. The reason the exhibit would woo most beer fans to the museum is that part of it had to do with letting viewers participate.

In this case, participate means scale the beeramid and drink your fill. The artist says that the idea was to show “Preserving a monument goes hand in hand with destroying it.” You can see one pic of drunkards climbing all over the beeramid and then the final pic with broken glass and cardboard everywhere.

The part that blows my mind is that this was free beer – in Germany and there are unopened cases left – and I don’t see puke anywhere.

The price is certainly a big downside to this gadget, but the way it works is very cool. All steps of making the beer and fermenting it are done in the stainless steel contraption. Once the beer is fermented, the brewery carbonates the beer and then chills it. The process takes 7 days from start-to-finish, and once it’s all done, you can put your frosty mug under the tap and drink your fill.

The products are both from Swarm, and are called the Nectar and the Elixir. Both devices are seat post clamps that keep the seat from moving up and down on the rider while they pedal around. They are both made from machined aluminum and the only difference is the way they connect. The Nectar is a clamp that connects with an Allen screw.

The Elixir is a quick release adjustment clamp with a lever that locks and releases it. The devices can be had in five different colors. The real feature though is the built-in (sideways) bottle opener that lets you pop the top off your drinks wherever you and your bike may roam.

The project has raised more than enough money to fund and go into production. The Nectar will retail for $25, and the Elixir will retail for $35, but you have about five days left to buy yours at a $5 discount over on Kickstarter.

The Takara Tomy Beer Hour snaps onto a can of beer, and turns it into a portable tap. But this gadget doesn’t just pour beer, it has a high-speed stirrer that agitates the beer as it pours, forming thousands of extra bubbles and giving your brew a “fresh from the tap” foamy head.

The gadget sells for about ¥1995 (appx. $25 USD), and hits Japan starting this April. But if you want one shipped stateside, you can pre-order one at Strapya World for about $29 bucks. Or if you want to save yourself the money, you could just shake up your beer can, then pour it quickly.

The real coolness of the Steins of Science is the ability of the steins to keep your frosty beverage cool. The steins come in a variety of sizes – with some apparently made from stainless steel and others made from silvered glass. That last one will come in handy if you happen to drink with Van Helsing. The stein is made from two layers of the silvered glass with a vacuum between them that is 100,000 times stronger than a Thermos. What all that means is that the vacuum prevents any heat for hitting your beer and any cold from your beer from escaping from the sides of the container.

These things aren’t cheap though, with prices ranging from $250 to $515 (USD) depending on the size and materials.

Why? Because you’re lazy. Don’t be mistaken, I’m just as lazy as you are. In fact, I keep a mini fridge in my office, just so I don’t have to walk all the way downstairs to fetch a drink. Of course, there are cooler ways to get your drink. Few of them are on par with this Mini Fridge Beer Cannon.

This thing does it all. Fire up the special app on your iPhone, select which beer will quench your thirst, aim it with the webcam interface, and fire. It even tweets when you’ve launched a beer. What more do you need from this thing? Except perhaps instructions on how to build your own.

Gamer/modder Ben Lzicar started his kegger with an empty Anheuser-Busch keg, then sliced it open to install his PC guts. After he ripped it apart, Ben powder-coated the whole thing with a beautiful shiny black finish, trimmed it with chrome, and loaded it with bright blue LEDs.

One of the readers on the Legit Reviews forums suggested that Ben should have filled it with mineral oil to cool it, so it would look like the keg was full. I’d be afraid I might actually think it was beer and try and drink some. I guess mineral oil is supposed to be good for you, right? Anyhow, check out the gallery below for highlights of the build…

While it no longer pours beer, at least it opens bottles. At first I thought opening a bottle of Stella Artois on an Anheuser-Busch keg might be illegal, then I found out that they actually are the U.S. distributor for the beer, so it’s probably okay.

As engineer Jeff Micklos describes in the video below, the reason they made this geeky keg-bot is because they “…love hacking, …love beer …and love iPads.” The KegMate iPad app communicates with an array of sensors via an Arduino controller, and displays information about the beer you’re about to consume, its current temperature, and even who’s been drinking the beer, courtesy of an RFID badge sensor.

Of course, you can use the iPad screen to let you rate the beer too (they are working at Yelp, after all). They also created a bookmarklet which lets them check the keg’s status remotely.
