Belkin LiveAction iOS Camera Remote Makes Sure You’re Always in the Shot

The iPhone’s camera hardware and array of photo-enhancing and photo-sharing apps has made it a very popular pocket camera. But no app or iPhone photography course can help you when it comes to taking group shots without asking people to take turns as photographer. Either ask strangers for help or use Belkin’s LiveAction Camera Remote.

The LiveAction Camera Remote uses Bluetooth and a complementary app, enabling users to wirelessly activate the shutter button on a paired iOS device. It works from up to 30ft. away and will also let you switch between taking photos or videos. You can even use the remote’s cap as a stand to prop up your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Belkin Cooks Up New iPad Dock for… Chefs?!

I never really thought there was a huge demand for specialized docks for chefs and other folks that like to cook. My grandmother loved to cook and she didn’t need a recipe at all, she just knew what to do. I thought all chefs were the same way. I try to keep my iPad out of the kitchen so it doesn’t get spilled on so this is a bit strange to me.

Belkin has a new iPad 2 stand that is specifically made for the kitchen. The case has a shiny hand washable surface and is kitchen safe. The stand is called the Chef Stand + Stylus, and it sells for $39.99 (USD). The cute little stylus looks like some sort of kitchen utensil minus the utensil part and it has a magnetic tip.

The magnet in the tip is the key to using the stylus and allows the navigation of the tablet with dirty hands. The stand also has a non-slip base to help keep your tablet from sliding around. The stand will work with a case on your iPad 2 and it should also work with most other tablets.

Along with the Chef Stand, Belkin also announced two other special kitchen accessories, including an under-cabinet mount as well as a refrigerator mount for the iPad.

Razer and Belkin Team Up for Nostromo Gaming Keypad

Razer and Belkin have teamed up to resurrect a gaming icon from days gone by. The two companies have unveiled an updated version of the Nostromo gaming keypad. I had one of those things years ago and it was a good way to shed the keyboard and have less space taken up on your desk. The Nostromo is a keypad with a D-pad on the thumb area and 16 programmable buttons.

You can map those buttons to anything you want. The thumb D-Pad can be mapped to directional controls if you want or can be used as a modifier to increase the number of commands that can be bound to the keypad.

The key mapping can be changed on the fly and programming software for the Nostromo is included with the device. The shape of the Nostromo is ergonomic for comfort with extended gaming sessions and the macros that can be bound to the keypad can have an unlimited number of characters. The new Nostromo will ship on 11/29 for $69.99 (USD), and you can order one over at the Razer website.

Belkin Conserve Valet USB Charging Station: Plug It and Forget It

Now you don’t have to turn on your computer just to charge your USB gadgets. Belkin’s new product, the Conserve Valet, accommodates up to 4 USB-based devices at once.

The company also claims that the device automatically shuts off when charging is complete, and by shut off they mean it shuts off – no vampire draw. So you can plug in your devices, knowing they won’t get overcharged, and that you won’t be wasting electricity.

No word on when the Conserve Valet will be released, but you can already pre-order it at Belkin’s website or at Amazon for $40 (USD). I don’t have a lot of USB-charging devices so I don’t really know if this is worth $40. What do you guys think?

Belkin Home Base: USB Goes Wireless Without Wireless USB

Belkin’s Home Base marries two of the most useful technologies ever invented – wireless networking and USB – and gives users a simple and convenient way of sharing up to 4 USB-enabled devices in a central location. If you have an external hard drive (or hard drives) connected to the Home Base, you can program it to back up your files, or automatically send your pictures to Flickr or Picasa.

The Home Base can also use one of your external drives as a media server for DLNA-enabled devices, like the Xbox 360 or PS3. If I didn’t already have the PS3 Media Server on my Mac, I’d get the Home Base just for that function alone. You can get the Belkin Home Base at Amazon for $66 (USD). That’s very cheap, considering Belkin’s asking $130 for it on their online store.

IPhone Case With Zune Logos: Sabotage?

Belkin is soon to release this iPhone case that appears to have a bunch of Zune logos all over it.

Is this a matter of stupidity or subliminal sabotage? Are the Belkinites a bunch of closeted Zune lovers or are they just a bit clueless? I mean heck, I don’t have a Zune or anything but of course I know what the logo looks like because of this…

Belkin Podcast Studio Adds Recording to Ipods

I don’t know what’s gotten into Belkin lately. All of a sudden, they’re cranking out devices that not only deliver on functionality, but that look really, really good. One of their latest releases is the Belkin Podcast Studio, which adds a complete audio recording studio to your iPod for under $100.

The gizmo attaches to your iPod, adding full recording capabilities, including dual XLR and 1/4-inch channels, so you can hook up just about any microphone or audio source you’d like. There’s even a built-in microphone for quick-and-dirty podcast efforts, as well as a speaker for playing back your creations on-the-fly

Belkin has introduced a new gadget which should be a godsend for musicians on a budget. The Belkin TuneStudion is a four-channel mixing board which features a dock for 5G iPods. The system records directly from the mixing board into the iPod at CD-quality.

Priced at just $179.99, the board features some bells and whistles normally reserved for higher-end audio gear, such as XLR inputs with phantom power. Each of the four mixing channels has a 3-band equalizer, pan and gain controls. LED indicators show input, peaking and compression levels. You can also move tracks from the board directly to your PC using the integrated USB port, if you don’t feel like undocking your iPod. The TuneStudio should hit the streets sometime this Summer.

Belkin’s forthcoming SportCommand seeks to provide a solution for remotely control your iPod in inclement weather or while performing outdoor activites.

The remote provides wireless control of key iPod navigation including pause/play, next/previous track and volume. Since the buttons are substantial and provide tactile feeback, they can even be operated while wearing thick gloves. Ideally suited for activities such as skiing, rollerblading or biking, the SportCommand will be priced at $79.99 USD. Belkin has not yet been a release date.
