How many times in your life will you have the opportunity to buy an entire set of life-size robots to take over your home? Well, if you happen to have $54,900 (USD) lying around gathering dust, now is your chance.

Robot builder Florida Robot built all but one of these robots, which include C-3PO, R2-D2, B9 from Lost in Space, Bender and a couple of others. Robby the Robot was already built by Fred Barton, but he modified it in order to “motorize and computerize some of his systems.” Apparently in need of some extra space in his house, these robot’s creator has put the entire robo-menagerie up for sale on eBay.

As you can see in the video above, both Robby and B9 light up in sync with audio tracks from a classic episode of Lost in Space, called “War of the Robots.” C-3PO, on the other hand, seems a bit more dignified. He’s got an awesome shiny vacu-metallized finish, and his eyes LED light up when someone approaches. Despite the fact that he’s supposed to be fluent in over 6 million languages, this 3PO isn’t talking, though.

And if that’s not the only droid you’re looking for, R2 is up for sale too.

He’s completely motorized, and can be driven remotely. His dome turns, his lights work, and he even makes all sorts of appropriately droidly sounds.

Now Bender, on the other hand. He seems too busy smoking and drinking to utter a word or even move. Still, he looks pretty cool just lazing around – though you might want to keep an eye on your valuables.

Last but not least in this awesome robo-collection are these boxy ‘bots who are inspired by an image on a 1958 issue of Fantastic Universe magazine, featuring a pair of robots sitting on a bench, waiting for the bus to come.

They’re also mechanical, and their heads move back and forth and eyes blink when a motion sensor detects someone approaching. They’re also completely charming.

Wow. I am so not adding that song to iTunes. That’s what you get when you let robots sing, I suppose. That and Mr. Roboto. I think all robot videos should actually be set to ELO’s Mr. Blue Sky.

But I digress. If you’re ready to adopt this lovingly-built family of robots (or you’re readying your own robot theme park), head on over to eBay and check out the auction now. The seller says that local pickup is available in Clearwater, Florida, and I can’t imagine how you’d ship these.

These Baby Benders were created by Mostly Nerdy Crochet. They were commissioned by a friend, but if she was smart she kept one for herself. You might remember these guys from the Futurama episode Lethal Inspection. They look so cute made out of yarn complete with their little bottles of Mexican beer. What trouble could this pair possibly cause?

I’ve seen many a Bender creation and a ton of toy Benders, but I think these may be the cutest ever. Stuff like this just makes you smile.

As a Futurama fan myself, I’ve had a Bender figure on my desk for years. He’s even got a tiny bottle of beer and a cigar you can put in his hands. But now that I see this new and improved Bender, I think it might be time for me…

As a Futurama fan myself, I’ve had a Bender figure on my desk for years. He’s even got a tiny bottle of beer and a cigar you can put in his hands. But now that I see this new and improved Bender, I think it might be time for me to upgrade.

That’s because this Bender utters a variety of snarky remarks with the push of a button.

Of course, Talking Bender says “Bite my shiny metal ass!,” but that’s just plain obvious. On the other hand, gems like “Hasta La Vista, meatbag!” and “I’ll open my own theme park, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the park!” are the real reason to pick one of these up now.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

In addition to his sassy witticisms, Bender stands 9-inches tall, has bendable (of course) arms, and a hollow chest cavity you can store your tiniest possessions inside. Proving, as we already knew, that Bender has no heart (we already knew his liver was gone.) He also comes with interchangeable eyeballs, which let you choose between a variety of moods, ranging from “deer caught in the headlights”, to “pissed off” to “hung over.”

So what are you waiting for, meatbag? Head over to ThinkGeek now, and grab your own Talking Bender figure for $24.99(USD).

I’ve always loved toques, but I have shied away from decorative ones. Check out this Bender toque that was crocheted by hand by Cheewawamomma!

You have to admit that Bender is one of the most likable robots on TV, given his sunny disposition. Although I’m not sure if the kid wearing the toque should be having her mind corrupted by watching Futurama yet, adults sure can enjoy it. I guess that’s why the hat is covering up her eyes and ears.

All in all, it looks pretty amazing, although not as amazing as the artist’s Bender toilet paper cozy…

While these items were gifts for Cheewawamomma’s friends and family, you can probably order some custom-designed toques and toilet paper cozies over at her Etsy shop.

While I was digging around looking at that awesome metal AT-AT sculpture by artist Sage Werbock (aka “The Great Nippulini” – don’t ask), I stumbled onto an even bigger, badder metal creation over on his Etsy shop…

This handmade sculpture of Bender Bending Rodriguez not only is awesome, he’s life-size. Yep this metal bender sculpture stands 5-feet, 8-inches tall (from the tip of his antenna) and weighs in somewhere between 40 and 50 pounds. He’s made from various recycled materials including a water heater tank, propane bottles, hubcaps, and a fire extinguisher, among other things.

Bender even has a functional chest door, so you can hide whatever stolen goodies you’d like inside his capacious metal chest cavity.

Unfortunately he doesn’t come with a cigar or a bottle of beer, but here’s what he could look like if you added those:

According to the artist, this Bender “won’t swipe your wallet or drink all your beer.” I don’t know about the beer part, but at $3,000 (plus $100 for US shipping), I’m pretty sure your wallet will feel a little lighter if you decide to bring him home from the 30th century.

This funny animated gif is from Futurama, and if you haven’t watched the new episodes on the Comedy Central, you should. They are pretty funny and outrageous. The whole gang is back after Fox canceled the show. Twice, I think. Oh, Fox, what will they do next?

My favorite Futurama episodes are the ones that involve robots in some way or form. I remember the episode with the Secret Robot Council from season 1. It made me think about the possibility of having future robot masters around, who’d dominate us, kind of like in Terminator. Ah, how pleasant.

While I don’t drink enough to need an actual t-shirt that has an integrated beer opener, I guess that for some people, this might be very handy indeed, especially during Spring Break.

The flexible-armed robot on the BeerBot T-shirt actually makes me think of Bender from Futurama, which just started its sixth season on Comedy Central, and does not have its own beer-bottle opener t-shirt (yet.) The t-shirt costs $20 over at ThinkGeek, and who knows, maybe with this t-shirt, you’ll become the life of the party. Or maybe you’ll just be a loser with a bottle opener on your shirt.

Honestly, I have a feeling that this gimmick won’t last long. After a few parties, I bet that it will rip off. What do you think? Is it worth it as a novelty item, or would you prefer to just spend your $20 bucks on 1600 Microsoft Points for your Xbox 360?

If you haven’t heard, the new season of Futurama just started on Comedy Central. In last night’s episode, Mom Robots released a new and updated version of their eyePhone, a phone that is pushed right into your eye! To celebrate this insanity, all of the seasons of Futurama have been collected in a robot head, which is Bender’s. (Although surprisingly not President Nixon’s head in a jar!)

I stopped watching The Simpsons a long time ago, but I have always enjoyed the craziness of Futurama. The show doesn’t have any pretenses to teach moral lessons, which is what I really disliked in The Simpsons after a while. It’s just always been a bit more edgy – and with more geek appeal.

It’s great to see this show on another network after Fox canceled it. Anyway, if you haven’t seen the show before this season, you should get this DVD package which will get you totally caught up to speed on the antics of Bender, Leela, Fry, Dr. Zoidberg and the whole Planet Express crew. The collection sells for $105 (USD) over at Amazon.

Des has put together a series of posts in which he details meticulously at how he put Bender together. This is kind of amazing if you ask me. All in all, it’s an amazingly good replica of the real Bender, even though there has never been a real Bender, since he’s a cartoon character, but hey, I still like it!

This Bender Bending Rodriguez iPhone case could be just the thing you’re looking for. And while his shiny metal ass is nowhere to be seen on this handmade felt case, there’s no doubt that you’re a Futurama freak when you whip this thing out of your pocket. And if you act in the next 4.2 milliseconds, you’ll get the matching Bender plush keychain for absolutely free! Actually, it just happens to be part of the $24 (USD) bundle that includes both the case and the keychain, but that last sentence sounded so much better to me.

These USB flash drives sort of remind me of Futurama’s Bender Bending Rodriguez, what with their bendy metallic arms. But these robots won’t tell you to bite their shiny metal behinds. At least I don’t think they will…

No siree, they won’t put up a stink at all when you pluck their heads off and jam them into your computers USB slot. Because that’s their primary mission objective – to store your data!

Inspired by the classic Futurama Christmas episode, A Tale of Two Santas, the set includes 6-inch tall bendy desktop versions of Santa Bender and (the bloodthirsty) Robot Santa for you to pose into a variety of compromising positions.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Robot Santa and Santa Bender were actually released by Toynami as a limited edition release of just 2000 at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con, but you can still find them over on Amazon for $54.99 for the set.

My only question is, where is Robot Santa’s tommy gun?

The system is a fully (dys)functional miniITX based PC. It took the team over 4 months to build it, but under 2400 Norwegian Kronor (under $370 USD) in materials to build. And no, they don’t plan on mass producing them.

It turns out that the gruff, gun-toting protagonist of hit Xbox 360 game, Gears of War is actually voiced by the same guy responsible for the voice of Bender from TV’s Futurama.

Actor John Di Maggio, is responsible for voicing the two incredibly different fictitious characters. About the only thing in common between the two are the propensity for four-letter words and their metal costumes.

I haven’t been this shocked by an actor’s range since I realized a single actor played the roles of Cameron Diaz’s mentally challenged brother in There’s Something About Mary, brutal killler Dan Dority on HBO’s Deadwood and famous rock singer, Meat Loaf. I guess that’s why they call it acting.
