Nice work in clay here, with a lot of great detail there on Big Daddy’s head. But, really, I have to ask… where my Little Sisters at? Why is it always Big Daddy in the spotlight? Ol’ Mr. Bubbles always gets all the credit.

This lovely sculpture was given as a gift. I’m not sure what sort of message a Big Daddy conveys. Does it indicate you’re protective? Possibly volatile and deadly? Thick-skinned? Psychologists could have a field day.

Of course, the glory days turned into gory days when everyone started killing each other, but eh. Details! Besides, these earrings would be just as stylish at a party as they would at the massacre afterward.

The earrings are available for $28 (USD) in EstelledeParis’ Etsy shop, where there are a few other game-inspired items sprinkled among the brass jewelry and art deco crafts. Definitely an eclectic array, but sometimes, those are the best kinds of stores!

deviantARTist l1vethedream reports that the Big Daddy project took a long time, and no wonder–most perler bead craft centers around pixelated images. That means the Big Daddy had to be re-imagined before the project could get underway. The end result is worth the time, though!  Now someone just needs to whip up a beaded Little Sister. You know, just to keep him company.

Technabob reader Matthew Borgatti (aka “M@”) created this intricately detailed bronze belt buckle which bears the inimitable Art Deco logo from the classic underwater shooter. M@ started out by having a wax mold carved on TechShop’s Tormach CNC.

He then produced a silicone mold from the wax and had the bronze casting made by the guys over at JR Casting.

While I really love the way the raw bronze looked when it came back from the casting, M@ did a great job giving it that thoroughly weathered look that’s more apropos of the game’s decrepit atmosphere.

I like this version a lot because it’s faithful while keeping things pretty simple. He’s a little more sinister than some Big Daddies we’ve seen, but still cute enough that you can prop him on your desk and say “awww!” rather than “crap, get it!” That’s always a plus in DIY projects.

With hype slowly amping up for the sequel, we’ll probably see quite a few similar projects over the next year, so I sure hope you’re feeling BioShock-y.

BioShock’s freaky Little Sisters carry around these syringes to extract ADAM, and this one was lovingly assembled and then aged by Harrison Krix, a self-described prop-maker from Georgia. Krix is responsible for a number of other amazing projects, including a replica of the gun from Portal.

Krix’s BioShock replica is almost exact, even down to the surreal glow. What’s in the jar? Red dye, hair gel, and water, with LEDs below. Without a ready supply of ADAM, crafty folks have to get creative.

This delicious Bento box was created by flickr contributor AnnaTheRed, and features completely edible versions of  Big Daddy and his faithful (and creepy) companion, Little Sister.

If you happen to read Japanese, Anna has provided a detailed diagram which gives you a virtual “paint-by-numbers” to create your own. Best I can tell, Big Daddy is comprised primarily of seaweed, sticky rice, bread, sesame seeds, and eggs. Lil Sis appears to be more of a ham (and cheese).

Unfortunately, there’s no ADAM or EVE in the recipe, so you won’t get any special genetic powers (other than the special “food coma” plasmid) from chowing down on this happy meal.

This Anime Bioshock illustration by Shuugo envisions the little sisters with those bright Anime saucer eyes, making them look more curious than ominous. Big Daddy didn’t get quite as much of a makeover, but he sure like he’s taking a nap after an exhausting day playing with the kids.

There’s currently one of these gargantuan 7′-2″ statues up for bid on the Dutch eBay website. Even though it looks like it weighs a ton, it’s actually only about 100-pounds, so theoretically could be shipped about anywhere if you’re the winner. From what it looks like, the auction is to benefit the World Wildlife Fund, although I was hoping that the money would go towards building a Utopian undersea society instead.

I was already duly impressed with the detail that artist the Etch-A-Sketchist has been able to squeak out of the little red and white drawing toy. But with his decision to (momentarily) immortalize Big Daddy and Little Sister in metallic powdery form, he’s become a real superstar in my book.

And just like the city of Rapture before it, this once beautiful work of art will eventually be lost.

Several posters over on the NeoGAF forums are already reporting that they have the highly anticipated Xbox 360 FPS+ in hand. Apparently, all they needed to do was ask the sales clerks if they had Bioshock in stock, and they were sold the game. So run, don’t walk to your neighborhood Toys ‘R Us store before the Microsoft and TRU suits get wind of this and shut down the pipeline.

The demo weighs in at a hefty 1.3 gig, so you’ll probably end up leaving your console on overnight (like me) to grab the full download.

According to the developers of the game, the demo lets you play somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour from the beginning of the game, along with a few extra weapons and capabilities that you won’t normally have that early in the game. Whatever the demo holds, I’m sure it’ll be just enough to whet your appetite for the full version of the game which ships in just over a week, on August 21.

It turns out that there’s now a life-sized replica of the scary creature making the rounds over in the UK.

Spotted “in the wild” by Kotaku reader Kotakuite Tezze, the imposing beast is currently on display at the London gaming shop, GAME. Digging around over on Flickr, I managed to come up with a couple more sightings of the bad-ass boss in other locations…

You definitely wouldn’t want to run into one of these in an alley.
