It was apparently created for a post-apocalyptic themed party. I can only imagine that there were several hulking and drunk Big Daddies tumbling about drunk, breaking everything in sight.

I was hoping that this was an officially-licensed game from Hasbro, but BioShock fan KatMann actually put together this fully-playable edition of Monopoly, inspired by BioShock. The game replaces the familiar locations of Atlantic City with landmarks of the undersea world of Rapture.

As you roll the dice, you’ll stop at the Little Sisters Orphanage, Adonis Baths, Eve’s Garden, eventually making your way to Fontaine’s and Cohen’s Apartments. I like how those are the expensive blue properties. Speaking of which, I’ll give you $1 if you’ve got Boardwalk from the McDonald’s Monopoly game and mail it to me.

But I digress. You’ll also find that Community Chest and Chance have been replaced with the more appropriate “Power to the People” and “Swami” cards. Nice touch. There’s even Rapture currency for you to spend. Although I think that it would have been better for the banker to hand out syringes filled with ADAM to spend on plasmids and gene tonics.

So if you want to play Monopoly: Rapture Edition for yourself, there’s a file to print out the board, deeds and money here, though I didn’t see any Power or Swami cards in the archive. Guess you’ll have to make up your own. I’m sure you can come up with something. Here, I’ll get you started:

This over-the-top, under-the-water Big Sister getup was made by Looptid Leather and Moar. The body of the outfit is made from leather and metal buckles, and assembled with rivets and stitching. The helmet was built from fiberglass, Kevlar, and metal and has a Plexiglas front that you can see out of (if you don’t mind the tinge of glowing red LED lighting.) Of course, it’s outfitted with all sorts of nasty weaponry, including a giant needle-spike (complete with ADAM container) and harpoon wrist attachment. You are so not getting past the TSA screeners with this thing on.

This one-of-a-kind custom costume has actually been featured in magazines like PlayStation Europe and even mentioned by the guys on 2K Games’ website.  Now it can be yours for the low, low price of just $600 (USD). The guy who made it offers up too much personal information – that he’s 5’11″ tall, with a 32″ waist and 32″ inseam, but that’s mainly so you can figure out if it’ll fit you before you plunk down your hard-earned cash. He does say that it’s designed to adjust to different body sizes though.

If you’re ready to head down to Rapture and scare the crap out of your friends, head on over to Etsy and grab it now.

In addition to Bouncer, the latest action figure collection includes Big Daddy Rosie and Brute, Crawler and Ladysmith Splicer figures. And the “ultra deluxe” Big Daddy Bouncer even has LED lights inside his helmet that light up and change colors. Sweet. The figures each measure about 7-inches tall and most come with props and articulated joints.

Bouncer is already available, Rosie hits in June and the Splicers arrive in Rapture starting in July. Prices for the BioShock action figures range from $14.99 to $19.99 over at Entertainment Earth. Tonics and ADAM not included.

While you will, in fact, be able to buy this replica Splicer welder mask, it’s not shipping until sometime in November. That’s okay, buy one anyhow, and wear it to your office Christmas party. I’m sure that won’t freak anyone out.

Sirleechalot took a 5-gallon aquarium and filled it with four gallons of mineral oil. He then sunk the mainboard powered by an Atom processor and the PSU into the mineral oil after mounting it to a clear plastic backing. The Big Daddy figure that gives the casemod the Bioshock feel was purchased from Amazon. The oil gets bubbled with a bubble filter underneath some black gravel. You can see the thing in action in the video below.

It appears that the entire mod cost under $200. The only part of the HTPC that was not placed under the mineral oil was the hard drive, which would probably not like to be submerged in the oily waters of Rapture.

Artist SaltyandSweet makes these disturbing mobiles from the world of Rapture, complete with Splicers, Big Daddies and Little Sisters ready to hang wherever you see fit.

Each one is laser-cut from solid black mat board, and can be found over at SaltyandSweet’s Etsy shop for $33 (USD). Sorry, no Big Sisters included.

While you were all sitting on your couches upgrading your plasmids, crafter Nerdigurumi (I love that name) got out the yarn and crocheted up this awesome little Big Daddy Bouncer in amigurumi form.

Amazingly enough, Mr. Bubbles is made almost entirely from yarn, except for the button portholes adorning his hulking (yet squishy) helmet.

Best of all, Nerdigurumi has been kind enough to share her crochet pattern for the masses out there who populate the intersection of the Venn diagram between crocheters and Bioshock fans.

Nice work in clay here, with a lot of great detail there on Big Daddy’s head. But, really, I have to ask… where my Little Sisters at? Why is it always Big Daddy in the spotlight? Ol’ Mr. Bubbles always gets all the credit.

This lovely sculpture was given as a gift. I’m not sure what sort of message a Big Daddy conveys. Does it indicate you’re protective? Possibly volatile and deadly? Thick-skinned? Psychologists could have a field day.

Of course, the glory days turned into gory days when everyone started killing each other, but eh. Details! Besides, these earrings would be just as stylish at a party as they would at the massacre afterward.

The earrings are available for $28 (USD) in EstelledeParis’ Etsy shop, where there are a few other game-inspired items sprinkled among the brass jewelry and art deco crafts. Definitely an eclectic array, but sometimes, those are the best kinds of stores!

deviantARTist l1vethedream reports that the Big Daddy project took a long time, and no wonder–most perler bead craft centers around pixelated images. That means the Big Daddy had to be re-imagined before the project could get underway. The end result is worth the time, though!  Now someone just needs to whip up a beaded Little Sister. You know, just to keep him company.

Technabob reader Matthew Borgatti (aka “M@”) created this intricately detailed bronze belt buckle which bears the inimitable Art Deco logo from the classic underwater shooter. M@ started out by having a wax mold carved on TechShop’s Tormach CNC.

He then produced a silicone mold from the wax and had the bronze casting made by the guys over at JR Casting.

While I really love the way the raw bronze looked when it came back from the casting, M@ did a great job giving it that thoroughly weathered look that’s more apropos of the game’s decrepit atmosphere.

I like this version a lot because it’s faithful while keeping things pretty simple. He’s a little more sinister than some Big Daddies we’ve seen, but still cute enough that you can prop him on your desk and say “awww!” rather than “crap, get it!” That’s always a plus in DIY projects.

With hype slowly amping up for the sequel, we’ll probably see quite a few similar projects over the next year, so I sure hope you’re feeling BioShock-y.

BioShock‘s freaky Little Sisters carry around these syringes to extract ADAM, and this one was lovingly assembled and then aged by Harrison Krix, a self-described prop-maker from Georgia. Krix is responsible for a number of other amazing projects, including a replica of the gun from Portal.

Krix’s BioShock replica is almost exact, even down to the surreal glow. What’s in the jar? Red dye, hair gel, and water, with LEDs below. Without a ready supply of ADAM, crafty folks have to get creative.

This delicious Bento box was created by flickr contributor AnnaTheRed, and features completely edible versions of  Big Daddy and his faithful (and creepy) companion, Little Sister.

If you happen to read Japanese, Anna has provided a detailed diagram which gives you a virtual “paint-by-numbers” to create your own. Best I can tell, Big Daddy is comprised primarily of seaweed, sticky rice, bread, sesame seeds, and eggs. Lil Sis appears to be more of a ham (and cheese).

Unfortunately, there’s no ADAM or EVE in the recipe, so you won’t get any special genetic powers (other than the special “food coma” plasmid) from chowing down on this happy meal.

This Anime Bioshock illustration by Shuugo envisions the little sisters with those bright Anime saucer eyes, making them look more curious than ominous. Big Daddy didn’t get quite as much of a makeover, but he sure like he’s taking a nap after an exhausting day playing with the kids.

There’s currently one of these gargantuan 7′-2″ statues up for bid on the Dutch eBay website. Even though it looks like it weighs a ton, it’s actually only about 100-pounds, so theoretically could be shipped about anywhere if you’re the winner. From what it looks like, the auction is to benefit the World Wildlife Fund, although I was hoping that the money would go towards building a Utopian undersea society instead.

I was already duly impressed with the detail that artist the Etch-A-Sketchist has been able to squeak out of the little red and white drawing toy. But with his decision to (momentarily) immortalize Big Daddy and Little Sister in metallic powdery form, he’s become a real superstar in my book.

And just like the city of Rapture before it, this once beautiful work of art will eventually be lost.
