The price of gold has been rising pretty steadily over the past few months. And for those people who are down on their luck or in dire need of money, nothing is impossible. For example, Moran actually thought that it was possible to turn his own poop into gold by putting into an electric heater. All I can say is, if that were all it took to turn human waste into gold then everyone would be trying to poop their heads off – but they aren’t, for a reason: because it’s gross, it doesn’t work, and it can burn down your entire apartment block, which was what happened in Moran’s case.

Unfortunately for him, a judge wasn’t too impressed with his poop-to-gold experiment and has sentenced him to serve three months in jail.

Now there’s another Chinese person who’s going to extremes just to get Apple’s sought-after technology, but this time, it’s a girl and she’s giving up something that’s supposed to mean something: her virginity.

The young Chinese girl put up a status update on Weibo, which is China’s version of Twitter, that it was her “dream to own an iPhone 4 but her father won’t let her get one.” Now that sounds like something a typical teenager would talk about. However, her next post is where things get sadly bizarre.

The girl attached a photo with her next tweet, posting some basic personal information and saying that was willing to “sell her virginity to anyone that buys her an iPhone 4.”

A lot of people responded to her post negatively, telling her that the smartphone wasn’t worth giving up her virginity. Others simply spammed her with replies talking about iPhone 5 rumors.

I don’t have an iPad 2 and while I do want one, I don’t think it’s worth giving up a kidney for, and certainly not worth selling one’s virginity for a lowly iPhone 4. I think news like this that shows just how deep-rooted materialism is in people nowadays is just sad.

And as an afterthought, I wonder what her dad would say if he knew what she tweeted.

Bandai’s new Tuttuki Bako handheld interactive plaything requires you to twiddle your finger around inside the orifice to play with a variety of virtual characters on an LCD screen on the front of the device. Think augmented reality Tamagotchi, and you’ve pretty much got the point.

There are six play modes ranging from pushing around a tiny little person, to ticking someone’s nose, to petting a pint-size panda bear. All very weird indeed.

That’s right. Leave it to the wacky Japanese to come up with this heart-shaped USB computer mouse that does one thing, and one thing only. It tells you “I love you.”

I’m not sure if it’s a masculine or feminine voice that speaks, so you may be in for a big surprise if there’s some burly guy with a deep voice inside the mouse. Unless, of course, that’s what you’re into.

Just click the scroll wheel and it lights up with a rainbow colored glow, and speaks those three little words that make it all better. They’re available from Rakuda for ¥2280 each (appx. $21 USD).

Now remember, you can love your mouse, just don’t LOVE your mouse.
