Looking for a fun way to wrap your presents this holiday season? Nothing says “I’m a complete gamer geek” like these Tetris block gift boxes.

Each colorful Tetris brick-shaped box measures 1 3/8 inches (3.5cm) deep (other dimensions vary), which means they’re not going to be big enough to hold that Lexus that you planned on giving me this Christmas. However, they are large enough to hold small trinkets like jewelry, candy, and assorted stocking stuffers.

You can grab a set of 7 Tetris boxes for $15 (USD) over at littlewhitedog’s Etsy shop. Keep in mind that they’re shipping from Dublin, Ireland, so you’ll want to allow plenty of time if you want ‘em to wrap this year’s presents.

While most of us are off enjoying our shiny new iPhones and Droids, those of you who prefer your phones ugly, bulky, and loaded with nicotine might want to check this out.

Now why you’d want a cell phone that looks like a pack of cigarettes is anyone’s guess. All I can assume is that if there’s a strange gadget that’s yet be made in China, they’ll make it. These particular phones are dead ringers packs of Marlboros, complete with flip-top box and storage for actual cigarettes. The Marlboro 508 phone is pretty standard low-end cell phone fare, featuring a dual-band GSM phone (works everywhere but the U.S.), a 1.6-inch screen, and MP3/MP4 player, bluetooth and an FM radio. One interesting feature is a 1.3-megapixel camera that’s hidden in the side of the cigarette pack for your spy shots.

If you’re a smoker, or just want to look like one for some reason, you can grab a Marlboro phone over at ChinaGrabber for $144.99 (USD) a pack. Isn’t that about what a carton of cigarettes sells for these days anyhow?

If you own multiple gaming consoles, you already know that keeping everything organized can be a pain, particularly if you sometimes pack up and take it all to a friend’s house. Nightmare? For most of us, sure. But not for anyone crafty enough to whip up a MarioBox.

Definitely awesome on the outside, especially for anyone who gets as excited over pixel art as I do. But the inside? One hundred times more impressive. I did the math.

This is frighteningly well-organized. I can’t even imagine living a life of such convenience. But the rest of designer J. Jamme’s pieces seem to be more about style, and that’s something I can really get behind. Oh, don’t get me wrong; I love this box. But in my house, it would be a tangle of wires in about three minutes.

I had to figure this was going to show up sooner or later. What with the Nintendo NES mints and Wii gum containers, it was only a matter of time before the Atari 2600 got all jealous and demanded its fair shake. So here it is – the oh-so-awesome Atari 2600 controller gum container.

There’s not much more to say, other than the fact that I need one of these. It’s probably not practical to whip this thing out of your pocket, what with that erect joystick poking it’s way out of the face of the controller. But I’d like to leave a couple of these sitting around the game room and hand them out to my buddies when we’re ready to have a retro gaming session and see how long it takes them to figure out that they’re not real controllers.

Want one? You’ll have to wait until late October to get one. For now, you can pre-order singles sticks over at NCSX for $3.89 (USD) each, or you can get a case of 12 over at Westfield Comics for$28.05.

chrixx claims that that’s a 10kg (22 lbs) wooden pallet. See what I’m getting at? He orders a tiny thing, something that should only weigh “barely 300g”, and he ends up with this monstrosity: “…I had to drag this pellet [sic] from my apartment lobby, into the lift, out of the lift, into my home, cut it open, remove the contents and discard all the junk packaging.”

I think chrixx shouldn’t complain about removing the contents of the box – come on man – but damn HP. Your packaging peeps must have been high or bored when they processed this, because all that chrixx ordered was…

… a power cord. How about it guys? You think this is real or what?

If you’re looking for a new alarm clock that looks like a big old hunk of wood, then look no further than here.

The Wooden Sound Box Clock features a bold design sensibility, peppered with just enough technology in make it seem at home in any geek’s bedroom. The current time, date and day of week all glow through the faux-wood face of this clock, courtesy of some retro-red 7-segment LEDs. In addition to telling time, the alarm clock can play digital music from your SD/MMC cards or USB thumb drives through a pair of full-range speakers mounted into the sides of the big black box.

If the watermarks on the images above didn’t clue you in already, you can grab the Wooden Sound Box Clock over at Brando’s Watch site for $95 (USD) – if you can believe it, the clock is just $55, and $40 of that is for shipping from China.

(FWIW, this alarm clock may look a whole lot like Karlsson’s Cube, but the built-in media player gives this one the advantage.)

Here in Chicago, we just got started with a city-sponsored neighborhood recycling program. While they’ll collect and re-purpose much of your post-consumer waste, electronics aren’t on the pick-up list. But if you’re a gadget addict like me, you probably go through batteries like they’re going out of style. So while I can’t recycle my discarded batteries through the city, I still need a way to gather them up until I figure out a good way to recycle them around here.

This clever battery recycling box by Luckies of London looks like a giant cousin to those batteries you were just about to throw in the trash. Just load up the cylindrical metal container with your deceased batteries, and once it’s filled up, head on over to your local electronics recycling center. By recycling your old dead batteries, you’ll be doing something good for the earth, as throwing them out in the regular trash can leak hazardous heavy metals into the soil as the exterior shell corrodes.

You can grab the battery recycling box over at UK gift shop Prezzybox for £6.95 (appx. $10 USD). And wheneve you can, try and use rechargeables – you won’t have to throw them out nearly as often

I was looking around for an interesting Halloween costume when I came across this awesome 5-person Tetris costume!

The great thing about this costume is that unlike some other group costumes, you would be very recognizable apart or together. The bad thing is that it looks insanely uncomfortable and awkward to haul around all those cardboard boxes. Let’s just say, bobbing for apples will not be a part of your evening.

Essentially a bunch of guys got together and taped a bunch of cardboard boxes together, painted them, and used electrical tape for the black outlines. Then, presumably, they went out and let the praise and accolades rain down upon their cube-covered selves.

Canada’s Lost Mitten crafts makes these 3-dimensional question mark boxes, perfect for your desktop, or hung from your ceiling. They’re made from a grid of fused Perler beads which happen to look a lot like pixels from a distance. One version of the block has a removable lid to hold your pens and pencils, while yet another comes with a set of colorful Mario coasters.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard you punch these blocks, no coins or mushrooms seem to come out of them. You can find these and a variety of other video game inspired art in Lost Mitten’s Etsy shop.

Planning on asking that tech savvy girl for her hand in wedded bliss? Here’s a way to really make a splash when you present her with that all important ring.

The $199 Euricase Ring Box has a tiny 2-inch LCD screen and multimedia player built into the lid. When she opens the box, your beloved can view up to 500 pictures of your favorite memories, or up to 60 minutes of video. The box comes in a variety of finishes including the super shiny metallic gold shown here (add $50), and offers ample protection for your precious two months’ worth of salary inside.

Now as much as the ring box can be used for good, it could also be used for evil. The surefire way to get kicked to the curb with one of these would be: a) to spend more on the box than you do on the ring or b) to not pop the question in person, and instead record a video proposal.

This electronic kit from Japan looks like a traditional music box from the outside, but when you open up the cover, it reveals an array of electronics that play music read from specially encoded music sheets.

Elekit’s OTOKIBAKO plays music data from strips of paper with black and white bars on them. You can generate your own music strips using the provided software (Windows only.) The music box has a 3 octave range, including half-tones, and comes with 15 pre-installed melodies and 8 sound samples (you can hear them here by clicking on the little icons.) And while turning the crank feeds the music to the player, it still needs batteries to generate sounds.

Remember, this is a build-it-yourself kit (assembly time is estimated at 5 hours,) so you’ll need to feel comfortable soldering and assembling electronics. Also, the music software is in Japanese, but it looks pretty self-explanatory. Each OTOKIBAKO kit will set you back

While the boxes are filled with a whole lotta nothing, they certainly would be good for wrapping up some of your less interesting gifts such as support socks, fruitcake or clown figurines. Each box measures 12″x9″x4″, and a set of three Gotchaboxes will be available on November 24th from the Onion Store for $19.99.
