Instead of a simple 3x3x3 (or larger) grid of cube faces, this oddball has different size faces to really keep you on your toes.

This cube has one regular thickness layer, but then all the other faces are super skinny, creating many more permutations as you rotate each layer, never mind the off-kilter handling that you’re bound to encounter with a puzzle shaped like this. You can choose from a 3x3x9 variant, or the slightly simpler 3x3x7 version, if you’re intimidated by the more complex cube. Despite their looks, there’s apparently a “New Playing Method” which can be used to quickly solve these too.

And no, these aren’t official “Rubik’s” brand cubes – they’re simply listed as “IQ Brick Cubes,” but you get the point. You can get the 3x3x9 or the 3x3x7 over at Brando for $26.90 (USD) each.

Maybe it’s because they’re both sort of geeky, but I think that LEGOs and iPhones go well together. I suppose that is why Brando has just released these LEGO-inspired cases that will work with the iPhone 4 and 4S. The only problem is that you can’t accessorize your case by adding more LEGO bricks.

The Brick case is made out of rubberized plastic, and looks like it would be quite grippy in your hands. The back of the case hase two removable block sections, which help manage headphone wires or protect your camera lens.

This case is available from Brando for just $9.90 (USD), and it’s available in 10 different colors. At that price you won’t feel bad picking one as a stocking stuffer.

Oh, Brando. How we love your never-ending warehouse full of weird, wacky and often unnecessary Chinese gadgets. So why wouldn’t we be expecting this giant-sized USB mouse would eventually make its way to your shelves? It was inevitable.

This oversize USB mouse is so big, that it requires the entire expanse of your grip to move it around. I’m not sure where I’d find the room on my desktop to cram this thing in.

If you have any doubt about just how large this thing is, just think about the specs. At 175mm long (~6.88″), 105mm (~4.13″) wide and 55mm (~2.16″) tall, this thing could eat your current mouse for breakfast, then swallow 3 or 4 more mice for dessert.

If having a giant-sized USB mouse sitting on your desktop wasn’t distracting enough, this whopper of a mouse also includes a built-in LED light show. It’s like a disco on your desk.

[youtubw width="600" height="474"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxjgqLf_2UU[/youtube]

Why not string 24 of these into a giant USB hub and actually open your own discotheque? You can get the giant USB mouse over at Brando now for $20 (USD). While you’re over there, be sure to tell them how much we love them, and to never stop with the wacky.

Are there spies and sleuths reading our blog? Silly question. Of course there are. They monitor everything. From a nondescript white van no doubt. Listen, you didn’t hear it from me but Brando is selling flash drives that look like a lipstick. Pretty sneaky eh? It’s not actually a lipstick though, so don’t try to smear your lips with it or you’ll give yourself away.

Engrish aside, I love how Brando describes this product: “built-in flash memory lets you store your data on the go.” Yes. Because that’s the notable thing about this particular product, not that it looks like something else entirely.

Ask your mole to use someone else’s credit card and purchase the USB lipstick flash drive from Brando. It’s available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models, priced at $16 (USD), $18 and $25 respectively. But you already knew that didn’t you.

While I doubt that Brando asked to license these from Namco, they’re certainly fun lamps for your work area. These USB Light-Sensitive Ghost Lamp’s light up like a Christmas tree whenever it senses that you need more light, all the while looking vaguely like the ghosts from Pac-Man.

Each ghost measures just about 4-inches tall, and there’s a light sensor is mounted on the rear of each one, so when there isn’t enough light, they’ll switch on automatically and switch off. You need to plug them in a USB port. They won’t chase you like in Pac-Man, but they’ll definitely decorate your workstation.

Oh Brando. I just knew you couldn’t stay practical and logical for long. One minute I’m writing about a perfectly sensible product with your name on it, the next you’re sending e-mails about… about this:

Yep. That’s a 1.5″ LCD screen. It displays images stored in the mouse’s built-in 8MB memory. It supports bmp and jpg files, and I think the mouse also comes with a cropping and managing tool for the pictures, although no mention is made of such a program in the product page.

You can trigger the display and browse the files manually, but you can also set the mouse to automatically play a slideshow, I guess so that your palm won’t be bored while you’re too busy looking at, I don’t know, normal sized pictures on your computer.

Brando is selling the USB Optical Mouse with Digital Photo Frame for $32 (USD). The more I look at this product, the less sense it makes. At least the weighing scale/mouse combo adds a function that you can’t get from a computer.

I often knock Brando for their crazy gadgets, but the truth is the company does sell a lot of practical and cheap devices. Take this thoughtfully designed cooling pad for example. It has a USB-powered keyboard attached to it and is fairly adjustable. Combine the two and you get a product that goes beyond taking care of your computer.

Laptop owners know how annoying a hot laptop can be. Not only do its fans start to spin faster and louder, the built-in keyboard can get significantly warm too, making typing uncomfortable. This cooling pad not only takes care of your laptop, it also spares your hands. If you can raise the laptop so that its screen is at eye level, then you’ve saved your neck from some pain too.

Ah, if there’s one thing we can rely on Brando for, it’s unusual stuff. One of the latest additions to the Hong Kong importer’s online emporium of wacky gadgets and geekery is this thing:

What you’re looking at is the latest in Canon DSLR technology, it’s a camera that runs on pocket change instead of batteries. Nope, I lied. Actually, it’s just a piggy bank, but it sure looks like a Canon EOS7D DSLR, doesn’t it?

It’s designed to look like a Canon EOS 7D, along with an EF 70-200mm USM II lens, which can be detached when you want to get your coins out. The kit even includes a matching lens hood, to complete the look. A real EOS 7D, along with these accessories would set you back about $4000. On the other hand you could buy more than 100 of these piggy banks for the same price.

Funny thing about it is that you usually try and hide your money in something that doesn’t look valuable, like an old shoe box, or a soda can with a false bottom. In this case, you’ll be storing your precious coins in something that actually looks expensive, further enticing thieves to walk off with it. Still, if you’re a photography buff, you’ll probably want to get one of these to put up on your shelf to collect your spare change.

You can grab the DSLR piggy bank over at Brando for $35.90 (USD).

What’s with the skull and crossbones? Oh wait. All those questions have the same answer: because Brando.

Fans of the shiny pirate explosive school of design will have more reason to love this device. It plays MP3 and WMA files from microSD & microSDHC cards as well as from USB drives, although without a monitor it’ll be quite hard to navigate through your files and folders. It also has a built-in radio, and if you already have an MP3 player you can use this as a speaker since it has a 3.5mm audio connector. It does have a rechargeable Lithium battery, so you can lob it and cue an explosive sound effect if you want.

You can grab a flash drive gun over at Brando for $17 to $32 (USD), depending on the storage amount. I actually think higher capacities should have been higher caliber weapons, but that would have been too clever, I suppose.

Brando has unveiled a new SATA docking station for HDDs. The company is rather known for this sort of gadget that allows the user to dock 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDDs and access them via USB like you would a memory card in a memory card reader.

The latest offering from Brando is the USB 3.0 SATA HDD Dock with 3-Port Hub. As you can gather from the name of the product it will dock the HDDs like you expect, but it also gains a three-port USB 3.0 hub. The hub is a welcome addition since you will need more USB 3.0 ports eventually with many boards and machines today only offering a single USB 3.0 port.

The dock ships with the USB 3.0 cable you need as well as the power adapter for running the docking station and the HDD. You can pick one up for $140 (USD) and versions with plugs for the US and all other counties are offered.

At first glance, this is just another USB light. But wait! That’s not all! It can stink up your home, office, and car, thanks to fragrance oils, which will also helps you relax! Honestly, my laptop’s batteries don’t last that long, so I’m not going to waste juice on this thing, but maybe you will love it?

This smelly flower sells for $12 (USD) and is available in either pink or purple. Heck, at that price why bother choosing? Just take ‘em both.

There are some times when making a product look retro turns out really cool. Things like the new Ford Mustang and the Chevy Camaro are great examples of how designers can use cues from old products to make something new and cool. I think a great example of how not to use retro to make a cool product is this new Brando Retro Mobile MP3 player.

The device looks like a mobile phone form the 1980′s. The color isn’t retro me, all the old phones I ever saw were in ugly beige cases not black like this thing. If you like the retro style of the thing you can order one up for $23 (USD), but don’t be surprised if we all laugh and point at you.

For that much loot you get a player that works with most MP3 and MP4 devices with 3.5mm plugs that can be used as a portable speaker. If you want to play music directly from the device you have to move tracks to a microSD card and slip the card into the players slot. It also has a FM digital tuner and a rechargeable battery. And no, it doesn’t make phone calls.

If you’re getting annoyed with your touchscreen devices, instead of getting a Crackberry, why not try this ultra-tiny keyboard with your existing gadgets?

As is often the case with strange and unusual gadgets, this one comes to us courtesy of Brando and is perfect for “travel, school, or any other working environment with a Bluetooth enabled laptop“. It works wherever Bluetooth functions. This means PCs, PS3s, iPads, iPhones and other devices should work too.

It’s available from Brando for $36 (USD). Is it worth it? I’m not sure. I can type very quickly on a keyboard, but admittedly, I’m not a teenage girl, so I can’t text on a tiny keyboard at blindingly fast speeds. Honestly, I’d prefer a full-size folding keyboard instead of this. But if you’re a Blackberry user, you might find it useful.

I don’t know if Brando’s cutting back on selling weird gadgets, but it’s good to know that they’re still coming out with cheap and practical ones. This one’s a 3-in-1 device, a 4-port USB hub/charger that can also be used as a solar-powered charger and a flashlight.

It also comes with seven connectors for various ports and phones – mini-USB, micro-USB, two Nokia connectors of different sizes, one for LG, one for Sony Ericsson, and one for the Samsung i900. However, according to its product page, this hub’s built-in lithium battery only holds 130mAh. If that’s not a typo, then it’s going to take you the whole day to fully charge a device. So don’t think of this one as a full replacement to a dedicated charger; it’s just something that’s handy when you’re in a bind, for when you have to make one emergency call or text, or to reach that save point in your game.

To use the cleaner, just plug it into the USB port, and then plug it out. Do this two or three times. And that, my friend, is real gadget porn.

Brando’s USB to 1080P HDTV Share Cable can be a neat solution. It acts like a network cable – simply connect one end to a computer and the other end to a USB-enabled HDTV, Blu-ray player, etc. and you’ll be able to access the publicly available files on the computer.

Basically, what it attempts to do is cut out the step of having to transfer files to a USB flash drive if you don’t want to bother with that. From what I understand the cable only provides a way for your appliance to access files. It has no media player software so even if you see the files, there’s no guarantee that your appliance can open it; that will depend on the appliance itself. You can order the USB to 1080P HDTV Share Cable from Brando for only $24 (USD).

Of course, if your TV has Wi-Fi built-in, or if you have a PS3 or Xbox 360 on the network, it kind of defeats the purpose of having one of these.

Someone forgot to tell Brando that Apple prefers form over function any day of the week. Brando’s Slim Bluetooth Keyboard may be one fugly gadget, but it is a lot more portable and cheaper than Apple’s own keyboard. More importantly, as Brando says, “it works in iPad.” Also, it’s “slim body save working place.” Awesome.

Amazingly enough, the keyboard packs its own rechargeable battery in its skinny frame.

It’s still ugly though. Also, the keyboard’s driver is in a CD, but I’m guessing you won’t need the driver to make the keyboard work with the iPad, otherwise you won’t be able to use it with the tablet, which is incompatible with just about every computer peripheral there is, not least of all an external optical drive. You can order the Slim Bluetooth Keyboard from Brando for $37 (USD).
