If you’re wondering, it took him about 3 years to finish them. Wow, that’s completely insane. My last Halloween costume was a cheapo affair that I bought a few years ago. Papercraft versions of the costume were printed out and painstakingly detailed. Once this was done, a mold was created and then a cast was made out of urethane resin.

The helmets include LED lights, padding, and cooling fans! The costumes are hard to strap on, but the look is definitely awesome, and well worth the effort.

The towering paper Spartan was made entirely from sheets of thick paper. It took Misty about 75 hours of painstaking craft over the course of 5 months to build the 7-foot, 6-inch tall Master Chief. The only thing that I would have done differently was use green construction paper.

No word on when she’ll start building the giant paper warthog for him to stand on the back of.

That rapidly spinning external cooling fan looks like it would be a good weapon for dismembering enemies, but I don’t remember that part of the game. Maybe Bungie can include it in Halo 4.

This isn’t the first time Ecko’s gotten their geek on. They also have a whole line of downright nerdy Star Wars hoodies, and the ODST hoodie is one of eight items in their Halo line, which includes an intensely yellow Master Chief t-shirt and an exceedingly gaudy ODST track jacket.

Halo fan Mordacil’s SPNKR rocket launcher boom box has speakers built into the barrels, and a slot on top for connecting an MP3 player. While you could use it to play an aggressive tune like Bang Your Head, or something more whimsical like Blow the Man Down, I think I’d rather play the Halo theme music to preserve the illusion.

The only thing that would make this thing cooler is if it could actually launch rockets. On second thought, it would be even better if it could launch multiple explosive projectiles to the beat of the music.

Currently up for auction over on eBay, this life-size replica Halo sword isn’t made from an unknown energy source, but it still looks intimidating. Measuring in at 36″ x 14″, it’s no kids’ toy. In fact, it’s a real sword, complete with mirror-finished stainless steel blade edges.

The sword comes with a collector’s card, a walnut wall plaque and a Certificate of Originality from creator Lionheartsrealm to prove that this is the “real” deal.

Now all I need is a functional bubble shield and I’ll be all set.

Later in the day, Microsoft’s posted this Buy Xbox 360, Get Halo 3 promotional page, clarifying the offer. The offer won’t apply to all new 360 buyers — just those who are already are Xbox LIVE subscribers with an original Xbox (and who happen to live in the United States). So it sounds like they’re just trying to incent original Xbox owners to upgrade to a 360 this holiday season.

To redeem the offer, here’s what you need to do:

1. Buy an Xbox 360 console between November 21 and December 21, 2007.
2. Convert your current paid Xbox LIVE account to an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription.
3. Register here between November 21 and December 21, 2007 with promotional code XBX7777, with your new console serial number, and a valid mailing address.

Back in April, the SCEE poster added the small notation “Although it wont look any better than Halo 2″ to the listing, implying that the game’s graphics won’t live up to the Xbox 360′s potential. According to Wikiscanner, the edit came from IP address 217.18.23.2, which happens to be an IP address owned by SCEE.

Fortunately, it looks like Wikipedia authorities on the topic have since deleted the nasty little dig, but it’s really a sad state of affairs when these kind of immature, amateurish acts originate behind the doors of a major corporation.

Sony why don’t you ask your employees to focus on making some quality games instead of this kind of crap? (And no, System Update v1.92 is not a game.)

I guess Microsoft made a very limited number of these to promote Halo 2 when it came out. Now you can own your very own.

The game will support up to four players in Campaign mode on either Xbox Live or System Link, helping you to get through the toughest battles in the game with the assistance of your online buddies. All players in co-op mode will get identical skills when starting out, with the only difference being their looks and what weapons they start out with.

According to Bungie, development of this new mode was a huge technical challenge, and they wanted to wait to be sure they had all the kinks out before officially announcing it. This puts to rest recent speculation that technical problems might have resulted in the removal of co-op play altogether from the highly-anticipated Xbox 360 FPS.

In addition, the Halo 3 public beta is less than a day away, and Bungie has already released this guide to whet your appetite. So pop in your copy of Crackdown, and get ready to start downloading!

The Beta will feature three maps, Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound and all three maps will only be playable in Matchmaking mode for now. You’ll get a chance to check out new weapons, at least one new grenade type and some “hidden features” in the Beta as well.

Bungie has also posted some really nice new screen shots and a video clip of multi-player mode in action (and quite a bit of behind the scenes footage.) Although it owes quite a bit to the Unreal franchise, I love the new “Man Cannon” which replaces the transporters as a means of getting around the map quickly. You can now look forward to shooting players out of the air as they’re trying to transport.

For you Halo geeks, the helmet is modeled after “authentic” Spartan Mjolnir Mark VI head gear. It’s made out of high impact polystyrene, similar to the construction of a motorcycle helmet. That said, I don’t recommend wearing this helmet on your Harley.

Halo Wars is expected to provide us with a unique take on the familiar Halo universe. In Halo Wars, you’ll take command of human UNSC armies against enemy Covenant forces into an all out war between the races.

The game is being developed by Ensemble Studios, rather than Bungie, who is busy putting the finishing touches on Halo 3. Ensemble Studios created the critically acclaimed Age of Empires RTS series, so they certainly have the pedigree to pull something good off here.
