The Gears of War geeks over at Gearspedia describe Imulsion as “a phosphorescent, highly volatile, low-viscosity fluid originally discovered by an oil exploration drill on the planet Sera.” They go on to say “direct exposure to Imulsion for any length of time will cause Locust subjects to transform into Lambent forms, making them, amongst other things, highly explosive when killed. In extreme cases, Imulsion exposure will cause the subject to mutate uncontrollably…”

So why not turn Imulsion into an energy drink? Sounds yummy to me.

That’s what the guys over at Boston America have done with this sticky sweet yellow concoction being sold under the GOW brand name. I bet if Marcus and the Gears had been drinking this stuff all day long, they would have been much more efficient at curb-stomping the Locust Horde. But the Gears’ loss is your gain, and you can buy a case or two for yourself.

Imulsion Energy Drink is available over on Amazon for $2.99 (USD) a can. Drink up.

If you’ve ever wondered if that decaf coffee is really devoid of caffeine, or if your waiter really brought you the decaf tea, Silver Lake Research may have a very convenient answer to your constant paranoia: decaf beverage test strips. This is science, people.

Sadly, it might not work on your lattes. Silver Lake Research cautions that the strips should be used before you add any syrups or milk to your drinks, but they can be used on either hot or cold beverages. Oh well. Perhaps the perfect gift for your maiden aunt? You know, the one who swears that real coffee will make her bladder explode through her nostrils.

Since all decaf bevvies still contain a little jolt, the single-use strips will only detect caffeine above a 20 mg-to-6 oz ratio, and they’re available in packs of 20 for $9.95. Might be worth the cash to buy a few and start indiscriminately dipping them into your friends’ drinks. Knowledge, people, is power.

Not to be outdone by Mario and his Power Up Energy Drink, it looks like the plumber’s simian adversary just had to have his own peppy beverage.

Recently sighted on the shelves over at New York’s Nintendo World Store, the Red Bull-esque energy drink comes in a skinny red can featuring the likeness of the big ape himself, DK necktie and all. Loaded with ingredients like taurine, caffeine, inositol, guarana extract, panax ginseng extract, and plenty of high fructose corn syrup, it’s bound to give you an initial jolt (then a ride on the sugar crash express).

The guys over at MTV Multiplayer conducted a taste test of both Nintendo beverages and found that they not only tasted identical, they tasted identically crappy. If you don’t mind the color of Pepto Bismol, the smell of bubble gum and the flavor of carbonated Kool-Aid, then maybe you’ll enjoy a can or two.

If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, then maybe just grab a few and keep ‘em on the shelf for the cool can design. If you don’t happen to live near the Nintendo World Store, you can also order cans of the concoction from Anime Castle for $2.25 each.

Do you often find yourself falling asleep just before you can get to that next Super Mario Galaxy level? Need a boost? Why not give yourself a kick in the pants, Mario style, with this Super Mario Power Up! Energy Drink.

While word on the street is that it’s “blue-raspberry” flavored, I’m betting the drink tastes something like a mix of Red Bull and toadstools.

Just in case you were thinking about giving this stuff for your kids, the label is clearly marked “Product not intended for children”. Presumably, this is to keep them from bouncing off the walls, but maybe it just causes anyone under the age of 18 to spontaneously combust. I’ll leave that to you guys to test.

If want to give a can a try, I managed to find some over on GKWorld for $2.95 a can. (For those of you in the UK, check out CyberCandy to get your boost.)
