These handmade Super Mario Bros. candies from pastry artist Ana Fuji look too good to eat. Each delightful bon-bon features the likeness of a popular character from the Mushroom Kingdom, popping its head out of the top of an orb of chocolate and fondant.

Who do you think looks more yummy, Mario, Luigi or that 1-up mushroom? Say, did you notice that Bob-omb looks sorta like the chocolate ball he’s standing on top of. I suppose Ana could have just made a giant chocolate bomb instead. And that question mark block is a bit more like a squishy question mark ball, but I don’t mind. Maybe they had those in Super Mario Bros. 9. I never got to play that one.

I had to figure this was going to show up sooner or later. What with the Nintendo NES mints and Wii gum containers, it was only a matter of time before the Atari 2600 got all jealous and demanded its fair shake. So here it is – the oh-so-awesome Atari 2600 controller gum container.

There’s not much more to say, other than the fact that I need one of these. It’s probably not practical to whip this thing out of your pocket, what with that erect joystick poking it’s way out of the face of the controller. But I’d like to leave a couple of these sitting around the game room and hand them out to my buddies when we’re ready to have a retro gaming session and see how long it takes them to figure out that they’re not real controllers.

Want one? You’ll have to wait until late October to get one. For now, you can pre-order singles sticks over at NCSX for $3.89 (USD) each, or you can get a case of 12 over at Westfield Comics for$28.05.

It’s perfect for giving your kids a momentary sugar high, then smacking them with the blues when the reality that they smashed their sweet little robo-friend into smithereens in their candy-rage-induced stupor. It’s enough to make EVE self-destruct.

Of course, since the pinata was completely handcrafted, it looks like it was way too much work to be something you’d want to smash into pieces anyway – especially when you realize that it’s selling for $200 bucks. It would probably be cheaper to go buy one of those interactive WALL-E toys, fill it up with candy, smash it with a hammer, then pay for the hospital bills from the flying shards of plastic that ensue.

Check that out: colorful, artistic, and wholly edible, which means it’s the best of all worlds. This is a candy rendition of an iPhone circuit board, which means it was probably very expensive along with being awesome.

He might enjoy the occasional cherry, strawberry or pretzel, but there’s one food that Pac-Man loves above all – the power pellet. Now you can enjoy the same tasty treats that Pac-Man chomps as he moves around the maze.

In addition to tasty round power pellets, there’s sour blue raspberry blue ghosts, and tart cherry Blinky ghosts, which I imagine turn into raspberry blue ghosts after you eat a couple of power pills. But I could be wrong on that. And while I’m thinking about it, have you ever seen an actual blue raspberry? And no, that Icee that turned your tongue all shades of ultramarine doesn’t count.

I think I know what I’m gonna keep in my desk drawer for between-meal snacks from now on. Pac-Man candies are available from FredFlare for $12 for the set of three tins.

After 4 years of playing second-fiddle to the Nintendo DS, the Sony PSP finally has something that the DS doesn’t. A candy version. And no, this thing doesn’t count.

Check out these officially-licensed PlayStation Portable candies, loaded up inside a metal tin that looks just like a PSP. Made from such goodies as sugar, glucose, gum arabic, maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, artificial flavor, malic acid, FD&C blue #1/FD&C red #40, PSP Sours won’t play Loco Roco or GOW: Chains of Olympus, but at least they’ll make your mouth happy (or at least tinge your tongue with an unnatural color).

Choose one with a blue screen for sour blue raspberry or the red screen for sour cherry. Coming this Spring, you can pre-order a dozen for $31.99 (USD) over at Urban Collectibles. I plan on buying one so I can have a nice place to keep all my DS games.

Nothing says love like biting into a chocolate rendering of your significant other! Paul Pape Design’s Chocomiis took geek Valentine’s Day by storm last year, though they had no real name and apparently no real boxes, but now the Wii avatar chocolates are attempting to make a comeback.

For those who missed them last year, Chocomiis are just chocolate replicas of Nintendo Wii avatars, set in a base that resembles the shape of the console. Each figure is a full two ounces of white, milk, or dark chocolate and comes with a little candy heart affixed to their chests. You can pick up a pair–in any combination of genders–for $19.95. Unfortunately, the press release is so full of the changes made from last year that there’s no mention of how the Mii design is to be transferred to them!

Luckily, Paul Pape Designs also makes Mii models and wedding cake toppers, and so the instructions about shooting pictures of your Miis are elsewhere on their site.

With all the insanity of the recent holidays, I somehow missed this tasty advertisement that Sony Style was running for the recent shopping season.

Created by the CGI mavens over at Tronic Studio, the ad envisions larger-than-life versions of Sony gear, poured from chocolate. The animation seamlessly melds the gigantic candy electronics with the cityscape of Manhattan.

Tronic shot live action HD video from around NYC for the backgrounds, then composited in 3D modeled candy versions of headphones, a DSLR camera, a Handycam, and a solid chocolate laptop. And if milk chocolate isn’t your thing, there’s always a giant PSP made from candy cane-striped peppermint white chocolate. The key to pulling off the pouring chocolate illusion was RealFlow, a realistic fluid dynamics plug-in for 3ds Max.

Gummi Bears (or is it Gummy Bears?) are one of life’s little pleasures – especially the red ones. Now it seems that somebody has gotten the brilliant idea to super-size the delicious chewy candy concoctions.

The 4-inch tall Giant Gummi Bear weighs in at a whopping half a pound, and is the equivalent of 88 of its regular-size cousins. They taste just like regular bears, only bigger.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

And if the Giant Gummi isn’t big enough to feed your family all winter long, check out the even larger World’s Largest Gummi Bear, which has the equivalent mass of over 1000 individual gummies (it’s more than 11 times the size of the Giant Gummi)!

They’re available in pretty much every flavor you’d every want, including lemon, cherry, grape, blue raspberry, cola, pineapple, orange, pink bubblegum, and the oh-so-descriptive “green”.

The Giant Gummi Bear on a stick is available from Vat19 for $9.95 (USD), while you can get your hands on the massive World’s Largest Gummi exclusively over at the appropriately named giantgummybear.com for the jumbo price of $39.95.

No more boring pink cotton candy here. Nope, in minutes, you’ll be cranking out blue raspberry, root beer, and grape cotton candy creations with this gadget. Combine a couple of candies to make new flavors like candy apple and strawberry watermelon. Think Jelly Belly, but in cotton candy form.

Just drop your favorite hard candy into the heating bin of the Ame de Wataame cotton candy maker, and in seconds, you’ll have a delicious custom spun sugar treat. I’d personally like to try an Atomic Fireball or some cinnamon red hots for a sweet and spicy surprise. You can even use it to make cotton candy from sugar free candies, but what fun would that be?

Need to satisfy a serious sweet tooth, but don’t live in Tokyo? The guys over at Japan Trend Shop are exporting these around the world for $159 USD (plus $60 EMS shipping).

We have seen a lot of geeky treats, but these motherboard cakes can’t be beat! Who would think to combine butter, eggs, flour, and sugar into something resembling a motherboard? It turns out there are multiple people who have done just that, with varying results.

You can bust out the full court press with green icing, Rolos, After Five mints, and so forth, or go for a more subdued, monochrome chocolatey mobo. In either case, one thing is certain: you’ll need wafer cookies on hand for the RAM slots.

Sure, they’re a little cartoony, but nonetheless I’d say that geekdom is getting to be so very delicious these days!

Japan’s LOTTE candy company recently partnered up with Taito to create a commemorative Space Invaders gum as part of the game’s 30th anniversary celebration. Other than the grainy product and assembly line photos above, I haven’t been able to find out anything else about this chewy treat.

What flavor is a Space Invader anyhow? I’m thinking maybe some sort of lime, since they’re probably filled with green space goo. What do you guys think?

[BTW - I'll give $10 bucks to the first person who can get me a pack of this rare gum.]

And if you’re not in touch with your Sith side, they’re also available in C-3PO, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Yoda versions for those who like to live on the light side of life.

Each one includes a dozen 12-packs of candy, so you can get working on that sweet tooth right away. You can get your grubby little mitts on the entire series over at the BulkCandyStore for around $18 to $20 a piece.

Hasbro’s Star Wars Candy Lightsabers are based on the authentic movie weapon designs for Darth Vader (red) and Anakin Skywalker (blue). They’re filled up with a gooey, glittery, edible, substance called “Spliquid”, which apparently comes in an assortment of fruity flavors.

So whenever you’re rarin’ to go into a sugar-induced coma, you can grab a dozen of these collectible suckers from Candy Warehouse for about $50.

This simple, yet ingenious invention places a tiny chemical thermometer on the outside of your chocolate bar, ensuring that you only eat it at the optimal temperature.

Japan’s DARS 22° C premium chocolate bars now include a color-coded temperature gauge which tells you when the bar is at exactly 22° C (about 71.6° F), apparently the “perfect” climate for chocolately goodness.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

To ensure the perfect candy eating experience, the company is even offering regular customers the opportunity to grab a special chocolate storage drawer (aka “the chocolate cellar”) that’s designed to help maintain the perfect temperature.

Personally, I’ve always liked my chocolate refrigerator cold, but according to the manufacturer, 22° C is the RIGHT temperature for getting your sugar fix. Anything else just won’t do.
