I hope you have your hands well rested and ready for a ton of clicking because Diablo III is only one week away, launching on May 15. Rest those hands and clean your mouse like a soldier breaking down his gun as you wait. While you wait, be sure to check out this animated short that Blizzard has released.

Directed by Aeon Flux creator Peter Chung, Diablo III: Wrath is a prequel to the game that focuses on the war between the angels and demons. Diablo fans are sure to love it, despite lines like “Your rage makes you powerful,” Besides what else are you going to do as you count the hours?

The cartoon is about six minutes long, and it is beautifully animated, regardless of the occasionally cheesy dialogue, so it is worth your time. Anyway soon you will be hacking and slashing to your hearts content, so in the meantime, enjoy.

There’s the Hulk, Spider-Man (no Doctor Egg-topus though), Batman, Green Lantern and more. I would have loved to get these in my Easter basket as a kid.
These nine superhero eggs were created by cartoonist Charles Apple. So if you noticed a cartoony flair to them, that’s why. They are completely awesome and they took him a long time to create. They were drawn by hand, then inked with sharpie and paint. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I guess Batman and The Flash would be up there for me.

Great work, Charles. This is the ultimate Marvel/DC/Easter crossover. And you won’t have to buy a ton of issues to see it. Find more photos of Apple’s superhero Easter Eggs over on Facebook.

When I was a kid cartoons based on video games were very common. We had a cartoon for Pac-Man, Mario Brothers, and a few others. For some reason these days it’s not so common to have a cartoon based on a video game. Bucking this trend, Rovio plans to release an animated series based on its hit video game Angry Birds.

However, this won’t be a Saturday morning cartoon like we had growing up in the 80s; rather it will be short form online video series. Rovio says that is targeting “all screens” so you should be a would get it on just about any device when it rolls out later this year. There is no specific launch date noted with the developer saying simply that it will be out this Fall. The show was announced at the MIPTV conference by Nick Dorra, Rovio’s head of animation, who says they also are planning on releasing a feature film at some point in the future. If you skip ahead to 11:55 in the video clip below, you can see a sneak preview:

The series will have 52 episodes, and each episode will last between 2.5 and 3 minutes. Presumably, Rovio is having Kombo, the animation studio it purchased last year doing the show animation.

Of all the apps out there that I play on my tablet and smartphone, Cut the Rope is one of my favorites. The little cute character Om Nom only wants to eat candy, and I can understand that. The little bugger is cute, and now the creators of the game have offered up a little animated cartoon starring Om Nom for you to enjoy.

The cartoon is called Om Nom Stories. In it, Om Nom pops out of an iPad when the person isn’t looking and goes exploring. He happens on a tennis ball and tires to eat it, but we all know those things don’t taste good. He spies a bag of eats on the counter and goes searching for candy, when on the way, he encounters the family cat, and wacky hijinx ensue. Check out the cartoon below and see for yourself.

Not an Oscar-worthy plot, but still good fun.

To date, he’s created 696 characters from cartoons, movies, and video games, all rendered in that pixelated feel. Highlights include Star Wars, Alien, Final Fantasy, all sorts of superheroes and more.

It’s kind of amazing how easily you can recognize these pixelated characters, despite the relative lack of detail. It just shows you that your brain really doesn’t need much information to distinguish different characters.

Well this is pretty cool. Before Matt Groening had his Sunday night Fox TV shows under his belt, he needed a side job to pay the bills. He paired up with Apple to make a student’s guide titled “Who Needs a Computer Anyway.” The book looked at different types of students and was more of a comic book than anything that could actually sell a computer from what I see.

The book is from 1989, and featured characters from Groening’s Life in Hell, along with some custom creations. One glance at it and you can see with a few tweaks some of the characters look a lot like characters we know from The Simpsons. Take the cover art on the book; that is so Moe with a taller head and no hair.

The character on “The Clueless” page looks a lot like Barney to me with the burp face and all.

“The Schizoid” reminds me of Lisa, and I am sure we can find resemblance to other characters throughout the book.

Ah, Mondays. Thankfully, we’re already Tuesday, so heck, Monday went by pretty fast. Still, I don’t really like Mondays. I really like Fridays, how about you guys?

This funny animated gif is from Futurama, and if you haven’t watched the new episodes on the Comedy Central, you should. They are pretty funny and outrageous. The whole gang is back after Fox canceled the show. Twice, I think. Oh, Fox, what will they do next?

My favorite Futurama episodes are the ones that involve robots in some way or form. I remember the episode with the Secret Robot Council from season 1. It made me think about the possibility of having future robot masters around, who’d dominate us, kind of like in Terminator. Ah, how pleasant.

Loaded with awesome cartoon-style animations and tons of blood, gore and violence, Klei Entertainment’s Shank looks like it could be a whole lot of fun.

Not only does the game look awesome, it was written by Marianne Krawczyk, who wrote God of War. The side-scrolling action game puts you in the shoes of a man on a quest for revenge against an nasty villain.

Throughout the game’s incredibly illustrated levels, you’ll kick serious butt with just about every weapon you can imagine, including guns, chainsaws, grenades, knives and even a machete. There’s even a local co-op mode which let’s you take on enemies in a gore-fest together.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Shank is rated M for violence, sexual content and language, so it’s definitely not one for the kiddies. It’s available today on the PlayStation Network and should show up in the Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow (8/25), and sells for $14.99 (USD).

Caldwell Tanner is a cartoonist for College Humor and he made this great little cartoon comparing the different browsers to their equivalent modes of transportation…

I found this hilarious, especially when I saw what he chose to represent Firefox. I use Firefox as my main browser, but it’s true that it can quickly become overloaded if you use too many add-ons or extensions. A fresh install is always nice when those memory leaks start to bog you down.

I do use Chrome sometimes, especially if I don’t want to open all of my saved tabs in Firefox, I’ve also noticed that it’s pretty fast, though in my unscientific tests, it’s not faster than Firefox. Still, Chrome and Firefox are getting more and more extensions and add-ons.

Which browser do you use most? And don’t say Lynx.

Back before I was a full time geek, I had a real job in an office where I had to actually work and put up with a boss I always suspected was a bit deranged. Most of us have had jobs where we really didn’t like the boss or had coworkers that we wanted to punch. With that in mind, most of us can relate to the Dilbert comic strip.

I am a Dilbert fan, but I like Dogbert the most. If you are a fan of the comic, you will want to get your hands on these new wall graphics from LTL Prints. All of the characters from the Dilbert comic strip are available.

You can get the graphics sized for your laptop lid or in life-size (albeit NBA life-size) 7-foot range for sticking on the wall. The laptop graphics are $14.95 (USD) and the wall size is $149.95. Scott Adams said about the graphics, “They’re way better than coworkers. They won’t borrow your extra chair and they never talk.” I bet they don’t walk into your closet size office, fart, and then lock you in either.

After the Shredder hoodie, it’s time for some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles snuggies! You know you want them!

You know when you’re just all wrapped up in a blanket, snug as a bug in a rug? Well, snuggies are kind of like that, just better. They are basically a blanket that you can wear at home.

I just hope that you don’t have any plans on wearing them outside of home, as it’s impossible to look cool in them. Still, they must be pretty darn warm. They are available in a full on body print of your favorite turtle, from Donatello, Michelangelo, to Raphael.

For some reason, I kind of think that snuggies might be extremely comfortable when it gets cold. These warm blankets are available from Hot Topic for $28 each.

I haven’t heard of Robot Taekwon V up until now, but I think he’s about to become a lot more famous because of South Korea’s soon-to-be-built robot-themed amusement park, Robot Land. The park will have a statue of the 70s cartoon hero (who was known as Voltar the Invincible in the US). If you think Japan’s Gundam statue was already huge at 59 ft, Robot Taekwon V’s statue will be freakishly huge at 364 feet. As Plastic Pals points out, the statue will be twice as large as the Statue of Liberty. And even if you add Miss Liberty’s base the South Korean robot will still be much larger. Damn.

Unfortunately we don’t have actual pictures of the site or the statue’s parts, only conceptual drawings. Can someone translate the details below so we’ll know a lot more about Mazinger Z Robot Taekwon V?

Koreans – and people who can read Korean – can check out this newsletter as well as the theme park’s website for more details. I hope the statue won’t be made out of balloons or something.

In other news, China just announced that the Great Wall of China is actually a robotic snake statue based on an epic tale that was all the rage back in 230 BC. A tale about a giant robotic snake.

Ok, how’s this for a concept? Take two moody lovers on a park bench. Put them inside your iPhone or iPod Touch. Shake them vigorously. Watch the sparks fly.

Yep, that’s the idea behind interactive artist Eric Loyer’s new iPhone app, Ruben & Lullaby. By jostling your iPhone, you’ll make the lovers angry. Give them a little stroke, and they’ll calm down and maybe even shed a tear.

Your motions and gestures control the destiny of the young couple, and each action produces a real-time reaction from the characters in your little mobile drama. It’s sort of like a Tamagotchi for adults, with a couple, on a park bench.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Ruben & Lullaby is the first of Loyer’s Opertoon series, which envisions animated stories that can be played like a musical instrument. While the concept of two fighting lovers seems a bit odd, the interactive component could be pretty cool for other animated stories.

It’s available now over at the iTunes App Store.

This Anime Bioshock illustration by Shuugo envisions the little sisters with those bright Anime saucer eyes, making them look more curious than ominous. Big Daddy didn’t get quite as much of a makeover, but he sure like he’s taking a nap after an exhausting day playing with the kids.

While I’m not a huge fan of many of those old full-motion-video (FMV) games, I have to keep a place in my heart for Space Ace, a surprisingly entertaining FMV laserdisc-based game created by some of the industry’s most respected animators.

While the game has been resurrected numerous times on everything from CD-ROM to DVD to PC, this is the first time it’s making its way to true high-definition disc formats.

Bucking the recent industry trend of Blu-ray only releases, the classic title will be hitting both Blu-ray and HD DVD formats, and will support widescreen Full HD (1080p) resolution. The game has been lovingly restored and remastered from the original film footage, and pumps up the volume with an enhanced 5.1 surround soundtrack.

Expect the title to include interactive gameplay using your video player’s remote control (or your PS3 controller), as well as picture-in-picture commentary by the games original creators Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, and Rick Dyer.

Space Ace should hit stores on April 8th for a rather pricey $49.95. Digital Leisure has started to accept pre-orders now. While you’re there sure to check out Bluth’s other classic, Dragon’s Lair in high def if you haven’t already.

When not attached to your computer, the connectors provide Mickey with his ears. When connected though, the Vincent van Mouse look is a bit disturbing. While the hub’s cartoon design might to appeal to Disneyanna collectors, it’s nothing to write home about in the utility department, giving you just two additional USB ports.

If you’re a Disney fan and can forgive the oddly interpretive character design, the Yujin Mickey Mouse USB Hub can be found at StrapYa for just about $19.
