Iron Man Xbox 360 Case Mod: Blue Ring of Life

I don’t think I need to elaborate on this one. It’s just an Xbox 360 with a case expertly modded with an Iron Man theme. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to brace myself for the deluge of “Where do I get one?” comments. And by deluge I mean like 3 comments. Wait how exactly does one brace oneself? Should I hug myself? Or fix my teeth?

The mod was done by one Zachariah Perry Cruse. In case the old Xbox 360 model didn’t clue you in, Zach – can I call you Zach? – made this ages ago, 2010 A.D. to be exact. As you can see it has ~~Famicom~~ Iron Man’s colors, a 120GB hard drive marked ‘Stark Industries’ and its own light-up arc reactor. Because this is an old model let’s just imagine that the reactor is the only thing preventing the console from RROD’ing.

So where can you get one? From the guy who bought it. This kick-ass console was sold just a couple of days ago, which is as unbelievable as it is unfortunate for the rest of you who would’ve wanted to own one. I also saw a similar mod for the slim version of the Xbox 360 made by Major League Mods, but it seems that one’s been bought as well. I guess you’d be better off pulling a Tony Stark and make your own case mod. Or maybe not.

Super Mario Mushroom Case Mod: Power On to Power Up

We love a good retro case mod and nothing says retro like a Super Mario Bros. mushroom. This one comes from Etsy seller 8BitBuilder (who created the even more special Zelda PC case) and it is an awesome looking Super Mario Mushroom PC tower case mod that that looks like it is about to lift off like a rocket.

If you have deep pockets, it can be yours for $1600(USD) over on Etsy. Sure that’s a little expensive, but it saves you the trouble of gluing hundreds of wooden cubes together and painting the whole thing. Plus you are getting a computer inside as well. It looks amazing. I just love those lights on the bottom. Too bad I don’t have the money to get one or the time to make one for myself.

I’d love to see this done as a 1-up mushroom. That would be even cooler because each purchase would give you another life.

Godfather Casemod Makes You an Offer You Can’t Refuse

It’s been a while since I’ve spotted a cool casemod I thought was worth of a mention. Here’s one that I think you’ll like – assuming you enjoy movies about the mob. What you’re looking at here, my friends, is the Godfather of computers, literally.

While you might have thought it would be riddled with bullets, or maybe involve a horse head, it’s really just a massive, powerful PC in an ornate case. Inside, a 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood spins on a turntable as Don Corleone keeps his watchful eye on the mobo, power supply and cooling system, powered by MSI and Cooler Master components.

Under the hood (of the PC, not the car), there’s an MSI Z68A-ZD80 mobo, with a Intel Core i7-2600K Quad-Core CPU, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, a pair of MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti Cyclone II OC graphic cards, two SATA3 120GB SSDs, 1TB and 2TB hard drives, powered by a Cooler Master Silent Pro M850 power supply, and cooled with V8 and Excalibur fans.

The guys over at Case Mod Blog spotted the Godfather PC casemod at the recent Campus Party event in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The case was made by Omar Majzoub – the same guy who brought us last year’s evil-filled Chucky casemod.

Maybe it’s just me, but I expected more blood.

Battlefield 3 Chaingun Casemod Doubles as a Mini-Fridge

Ask any gamer and they will tell you, all you really need in your gaming session are guns and a cold drink. After that it’s just sit back and frag. This awesome case mod delivers both guns and chilled beverages.

This cool case was created by modder Brian Carter (aka Boddaker) for a competition run by Raptr.com. It is equipped with its own refrigerator for drinks, features a custom airbrushed Battlefield image on one side, and a large crosshair intake fan on the other.

The best part is of course the spinning mini chain gun right in front. It can be turned on and off with military toggle switches, which is a nice detail. Man I wish I had this thing on my desk to chill drinks (and fire bullets).

Star Trek Shuttlecraft Casemod with Intel Warp Core

This Star Trek The Next Generation Case Mod is all kinds of awesome. It was made by techpowerup forum member Onizuka who is clearly very talented and loves him some Star Trek.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of info about what’s inside, but we do know that it has a Core i7 1366 processor and that the frame is hand made, welded, powder coated and completely built from scratch. It took 4 months of work to finish. That’s probably faster than Starfleet can build one. Then again, Starfleet has to do a lot more then slap a computer inside.

Apparently he made it back in 2007, according to the image, but it just showed up in the forum. All of the detail work is pretty amazing. I would love to see what he could do with a Klingon Bird of Prey or a Romulan ship. Sure, I would have made the nacelles on the bottom more angular myself, but who am I to judge? This mod is awesome. Great work Onizuka.

Is This Weird Al’s Computer?

Ready to get your polka on? This unassuming accordion happens to house a complete PC under hidden inside its bellows.

The Enrico accordion case mod project took an old squeezebox, gutted it out and loaded it with a Linux server, designed to store the builders’ digital music collection. Thanks to a Micro-ITX motherboard, they were able to cram the entire system inside the instrument without too much complaint.

While I’m hoping they have stored more than Oom-pah music on the RAID drive array, I wouldn’t count on it.

The Ultimate Guitar Hero Case Mod

Rocker/ Case Modder Kneivel put together this ingenious home arcade cabinet by taking a stack of Marshall amp cases and transforming them into a Guitar Hero themed gaming system.

The system is made from 3 individual cabinets which can be disassembled in case he wants to taking the show on tour. Gaming is powered by a PlayStation 2, preloaded with all of the Guitar Hero games on the hard drive.

The top cabinet has the left and right speakers as well as a cool backlit GH marquee, while the middle tier houses a heavyweight 27-inch Toshiba CRT.

The bottom cabinet contains a Logitech Z2300 subwoofer for some serious low-end, as well as the PS2 system that powers the whole rig. Rock on with your bad self!

This is the most bizarre case mod I’ve seen in a long while. It’s a fully functional mini-ITX computer crammed into the carcass of a beaver. In addition to being a dead animal, the CompuBeaver is a complete PC loaded with a Core 2 duo processor, 160GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM.

According to the system’s maker, Kasey McMahon, the CompuBeaver is where “nature, technology and science converge.” Personally, I just think it’s plain weird.

Looking for a way to spiff up your iPod? iPod mod company, iPodMods has introduced their new iVue Crystal case mod which lets you see the inner guts of your iPod, while still offering protection from normal use.

Versions are expected for both video iPods and Nanos by the end of the year and are expected to run between $20 and $35 including free installation.

New Paint Can Change Colors on Its Own

Looking for an exotic finish for your case mod or do you just want to pimp your ride? Look no further. The folks at ALSA have developed some amazing paint finishes including one that has the ability to change colors temporarily when heat is applied.

Their Eclipse paint is a special spray-on basecoat that can change colors from black to white or blue to white. Then additional color coats can be sprayed on over the top of the basecoat to create some super cool effects. Check out this video of the paint in action:
