I think that many of us have a mental image of what the average person that uses certain types of devices might look like. For instance, I picture the typical Apple as a person with designer glasses and a penchant for overpriced coffee. At the same time, the Android user always makes me think of a geek that really wants to be different, and cares more about his or her technology than the package it comes in.

The gang at BlueStacks has compiled a bunch of data on users of Android and used that data to make up a composite image of Mr. Android for 2011.

The data shows that there is a 37% chance the Android user is wearing glasses and two-thirds of a chance he is clad in jeans. The Android guy has a 62% chance of being in some sort of relationship. He also has an 18% chance of having an unusually large head. The full-size image that puts all this stuff together is ginormous so you will need to check it out in full here so you can read all the facts and figures.

Are you a serious Apple fanboy or fangirl? Here’s a poster that you’re probably going to want to hang on your wall. Entitled The Insanely Great History of Apple, it chronicles the past 30 years of technology released by Apple.

This 18″x24″ wall poster includes some of the best and worst moments in the history of Apple, ranging from the original Apple II to the Mac to the systems of Apple’s “dark” period, like the Quadras, Performas, eMate 300 and the hideous first-gen iBook. You know, the one that looked like a toilet seat.

While the chart seems fairly comprehensive from 1983 through 2011 – all the way up to the iPhone 4S, you won’t find Apple’s XServw line, some of the special educational models, or the earliest Apple models like the Apple I, Apple II and II+. I wonder why they chose to skip those. I’m a bit of a completionist, so would like to have seen EVERY Apple system ever. Except for those awful 3rd party clones from the likes of Power Computing, Motorola and UMAX. I’d rather forget that era.

Regardless, it’s still a pretty cool bit of chart-art for Apple fanatics. Each poster is signed and numbered by the artists, from this limited second-edition of just 1000 prints. I you’d like one for your wall, you can order it from Brooklyn’s Pop Chart Labs for $25(USD).

Artist Luke Jerram has converted the seismogram of this year’s devastating earthquake in Japan into a 3D printed sculpture. The seismogram charts the nine minutes of the earthquake, with its varying intensities. It’s called the Tōhoku Japanese Earthquake Sculpture.

The sculpture measures 12 inches in length and 8 inches in width. The 3D printing was done using rapid prototyping technology from a 3D image, obtained by rotating the graph. This isn’t Jerram’s first disaster sculpture. He’s also done one on the Hiroshima atomic bomb explosion. Next month, he plans on creating a glass version of this sculpture since he’ll be the artist in residence as the Washington Museum of Glass.

This piece is on display at the Terra exhibition at Jerwood Visual Arts in London from November 9th to December 11th.

Now if you read over the extensive comments over at Sci Fi Wire, there’s tons of debate on the accuracy of Pest’s chart (like how Mace Windu’s lightsaber was purple). But other than the fact that the good guys had blue or green ones, and the bad guys had red ones, I’m pretty much clueless about the rest.

Discuss amongst yourselves and let us know any revisions you’d make. Heck, Photoshop together a new and improved chart and maybe we’ll even post it.
