The girl in question is Youtuber Frosty Starcraft, and though I haven’t gotten around to playing the game yet myself, from what I know, it looks like she did a pretty awesome job of replicating a little Breezehome located in the city of Whiterun.

It has Alduin the dragon on the roof, what looks like Frosted Mini-Wheat shingles and candy for brickwork, and there’s even a dead giant spider right next to the house. I think she did an awesome job. I’m sure it was as fun to make as it will be to eat.

The point is, I end up with a lot of video of my kids doing weird things dancing around. I bet most parents have a bunch of that stuff too. If you want to turn some of those dancing videos into holiday vids you can share, Reel Doozy is a new iOS app that will let you. The app uses green screen tech to superimpose Santa, elves, or that Keenan Cahill kid from YouTube in the video dancing with you.

Fans of Doctor Who, will be impressed with what they’ve come up with. Their Dalek has all of the right colors for the holidays, and a Santa hat, all made out of LEGO bricks. In total, the family used about 100,000 bricks and 200 hours to complete their jollier than usual looking Dalek for Christmas.

Each year, the Addis family uses a different LEGO themed decoration to feature in their Christmas card. From nutcrackers, to churches, to angels, quite a few have been done in the past 18 years, but the Dalek is by far their geekiest (and greatest) creation.

The wrapping paper comes in two variants – cobblestone and diamond. It would be awesome if you can find a pickaxe-shaped letter opener or cutter that can be used to mine open the gifts.

Craft a browser and head to J!NX to order some Minecraft wrapping paper; both designs cost $8 (USD) each. Bury your gifts underground and make your recipient dig ‘em up for added authenticity.

But whereas the original game had loose physics and required experimentation, kumbaric’s version will involve even more trial and error because the birds are invisible. The game is played in first person, bird’s eye, first bird’s eye using a slingshot-shaped controller with three buttons, one each to aim to the left, right and center. The power of the shot depends on how long you hold down a button. The whole thing is done using over 20,000 lights, and a bunch of Light-o-rama controllers. It even broadcasts audio on a low-wattage FM transmitter so people driving by in their cars can hear the sounds.

What you’re looking at here is a Christmas tree, Katamari Damacy style. At least this is what one looks like after it’s rolled up all the ornaments, lights and tinsel from an ordinary tree. Though I’m surprised there are no little elves or tiny reindeer in there, with their arms and legs flailing about. Maybe once the Prince rolls it around a bit more.

This awesomely geeky creation was posted by flickr contributor szy a couple of years back, but it deserves to be a regular geeky holiday tradition, right alongside the Pac-Man Xmas tree, I think.

Loaded with about 50 green tentacles protruding from inside the branches, and topped by a plush Cthulhu tree-topper, this thing is sure to freak out visitors who come over to the house expecting reindeer, snowmen and tinsel on the tree.

I can only imagine that the malevolent octopus-dragon-beast is sitting at the top, staring down at humanity while crushing the life out of the poor pine tree and forcing its needles to the floor – all the while, throwing all who look at it into a state of madness as they sip their hot cocoa, and unwrap their prezzies.

Instructables contributor DIYHacksAndHowTos came up with this simple circuit which you can install into a box, and it’ll play back any sound you want when the box is shaken.

The circuit requires just a small number of inexpensive components you should be able to pick up at a Radio Shack (or order from their website), and minimal soldering skills. Once assembled, you record the sound you want it to play, hot glue it to the box, and let the fun begin.

Nice sound there at the end. Though I like the idea of recording Chewbacca’s growl or maybe some broken glass if I make one.

This seems like a simple enough gag that someone over at ThinkGeek should consider turning it into a product for next Christmas. For now, you’ll hae to build your own. You can find complete build instructions over at Instructables.

The sculpture tells the story of the birth of Christ through three robotic wisemen, Mary, Joseph and sweet little Baby Robot Jesus. Instead of gold, frankincense and myrrh, the Magi are bearing a vacuum tube, a gear, and a set of LEGOs, which seems like a much better set of gifts to me. Except for the gold part. Maybe the gear is made of gold, though.

This adorable and humorous sculpture was made by Day of the Robot. It measures about 10.5″(w) x 5.5″(d), and the robots are crafted from Ultracal (high-strength plaster), wire, and polymer clay. The whole thing is set onto a metal base, which has LEDs underneath to illuminate the auspicious occasion.

Red Wasp Design’s app features an original Cthulhu image that can be opened each day. You’ll find Cthulhu having lots of fun with Santa Claus, mistletoes, and Christmas trees. These fun images have been merged, mixed, mutated and mashed up with other, darker figures from the Cthulhu Mythos.

You’ll also get to answer a Cthulhu-related question each and every day. The tally will be revealed on the 25th, and it will give you your Mythos rating. It’s available at the iTunes App store for iPhone and iPod ($0.99), for iPad ($1.99) and in the Android Market ($1.09).

Instead of putting up just the usual tree this year, the Holburne Museum in Bath, England decided that they wanted to do something different and called in an artist to do their lights for them. And boy, did Bruce Munro get creative with the lights.

He painstakingly connected and set up over 5,000 glass spheres to come up with the Field of Lights on the grounds of the museum. The bulbs are planted on the ground, with the spheres supported by acrylic stems. Each of the spheres is threaded with fiber optic cables and are lit by a color projector.

Of his work, Munro says, “I think it is a piece with universal appeal and I’ll be happy if it makes people smile at Christmas time.”

I definitely think there will be a lot who will be smiling because of the Field of Lights this Christmas. I know I would, if I had a chance to visit the museum.

The lights in both cartridges change depending on what’s happening in the games, but they’ll happily blink and shine for you even if you don’t play the games. You’ll still have to plug them in to their respective consoles though. Colorful blinky lights need power.
