I admit that I have trouble seeing my cell phone in the mornings when I wake up, but this dock seems to do the trick, with nice big numbers that are easy to see from afar, especially when you’re not wearing any glasses. Assuming, that is, that you can see the hands on the tiny clock face.

This iLive ICP391B Clock Radio is not just a simple dock, it’s also an app so that your beloved iPhone can really work well as your clock radio. Instead of a digital display, the iLive uses your iPhone as the hands and for the number 12. The hour, minute and second hands are created by the app and they’re small compared to the size of this clock radio, but it’s still pretty cool.

Without your iPhone or iPod plugged in, there’s a backup alarm, just to make sure that you wake up no matter what the case. The iLive Clock Radio sells for $49.99 from iLive’s online store.

Pure Twilight is Not Team Edward

My wife is a big Twilight fan. Me, not so much. I think the flicks could have been much better with some explosions, hooters, and maybe a manly car chase that didn’t involve my grandma’s Volvo. Pure now has a new radio out called the Twilight that has nothing to do with blood sucking vampires or shedding werewolves. This thing is a clock radio with a big dome light on top.

The top of the radio is white glass and inside that dome is some lights that project colors into the room to make you feel sleepy and more at ease according to the company. The light changes from white, blue, green, purple, red, and orange.

In addition to the light that is supposed to help you wake and fall asleep, the thing can play FM radio for you and has an input for your MP3 player or iPhone. An optional iPhone dock is also offered as well. It even has built-in lullabies to get your baby to sleep, and nature sounds to help you catch some Zs.

While the colorful mood lights can help you relax, they can also be used as a “dawn simulation” to gently wake you from your slumber as alarm sounds play in the background.

Darth Vader Alarm Clock Radio: Snooze the Force, Luke!

How’d you like to wake up to a Sith Lord staring you down in the middle of the night? This Darth Vader alarm clock/radio from Sakar is sure to scare the crap out of you if you happen to roll over at 3am and stare into his glowing red LED eyeballs.

Hours display in the left eyeball, and minutes display in the right one (when facing Vader, of course). In addition to telling time and letting you listen to its built-in radio, the Dark Lord can also play tunes from your iPod or other external audio device, thanks to an AUX jack. Heck, the Death Star didn’t even include an AUX jack!

Of course, the best part is that you can set the alarm to wake you with digitized sound-bites of Vader himself. What does he say? We’ll have to wait until the clock ships this August to find out. But I’d like to think he’ll say something like “Today will be a day long remembered. It has seen the death of Kenobi, and will soon see the end of the Rebellion. But first, it’s time for some Crunch Berries.” or maybe “I sense something. A presence I’ve not felt since… you went to bed last night.”
