Ready for the creepiest three minute cooking show ever? No, I’m not talking about Rachael Ray and Alton Brown getting freaky with cake mix and Jell-O. I’m talking about BakeBot. It’s Willow Garage’s PR2 robot in the kitchen.

The robot’s goal is to make a single large cookie. And the bot is all decked out in protective plastics as well as the table. If PR2 did this himself, then I’m a little concerned, because he is basically on his way to learning how to prepare a kill-room. His skills as he works over the protective surface are also very Dexter-like.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Notice how he savagely stabs and then mixes the concoction. We are talking expert precision, with bursts of finely tuned rage. I’m surprised he doesn’t have photographs of other foods on the wall nearby that he uses to taunt his current dish.

Once he mixes it all up he dumps the huge gob of “I ain’t eatin’ what that robot’s cookin’” into a pan and heads for the toaster oven where he cooks it all up.

When it comes out of the oven, I don’t know what the hell that is, but it isn’t a cookie like I’ve ever seen. It looks like meat for god’s sake. Then he makes some poor human taste test it. The guy gives it a thumbs up, but BakeBot is standing right there so, I don’t blame him for lying.

Inside the oven door, you’ll find a fully functional PC, running a Pentium D820 3.5 GHz CPU, with 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and an nVidia 9600GT graphics card. And the DVD-RW drive is hidden in the bottom drawer where you’d usually put your spare pans.

How many times have you said to yourself: “I really, really wish I could cook a pizza while driving.” Well have I got something for you.

The Porta-Pizza oven could be just what the doctor ordered. This 12-volt pizza oven looks almost like an April Fools prank from The Onion, but it’s real. Now I’d be afraid that I’d kill my car battery with the amount of power you’d need to cook pizza, but what the heck do I know? And what’s to stop you from making toast in your front seat with this? Yay, toast on the go! Just plug it into your 12-volt accessory outlet, add your ingredients and get cookin’!

Now I thought people texting and driving were bad, but I bet dropping a scorching hot slice of melty mozzarella and pepperoni onto your lap is sure to get you into an accident or two.

This Stupidiotic invention is available from Stupidiotic for $36 (USD). I wonder if this is how Domino’s plans on reviving their 30-minutes or less promise now…

How many times have you pulled the flashlight out of your utility drawer only to find out it can barely light up 2 feet in front of your face? This insanely bright flashlight certainly doesn’t have that problem.

As a matter of fact, the Torch flashlight is so intense that it generates sufficient heat to fry an egg before you can say “Egg McMuffin” ten times fast.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Personally, I prefer mine over easy. The Torch is even hot enough to ignite a small fire (or better yet, toast a marshmallow) in seconds flat.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Cranking out an unbelievable 4100 lumens of brightness, you’ll have no problem finding your way around in the dark with this bad boy.

The Torch gets its mighty strength from a 100-watt halogen bulb which runs on a 14.4-volt rechargeable battery. Of course all this intensity does chew up some power – battery life is only about 15 minutes per charge – so you’ll want a spare battery or two.

The $299 Torch flashlight is available from Wicked Lasers.

Spotted at this week’s QuakeCon 2008, this is one computer that probably doesn’t have to worry about overheating.

The Barbecue Grill PC is definitely one smokin’ machine. But instead of cooking burgers and ribs, this grill conceals a complete gaming rig, capable of pushing plenty of pixels for playing the latest and greatest computer games. Just pop open the lid, and hidden beneath the lid is a nice big widescreen LCD monitor and a powerful PC. Those glowing orange fans really make it look like the coals are nice and hot.

From the look of all of those fans and heatsinks, I’m guessing this machine would get hot enough to cook your lunch as well as a regular BBQ if you ripped out all the cooling. Then you could slather on some sweet and smoky BBQ sauce to keep those CPUs and GPUs cool.

[images via Big Download and QuakeCon]

This robot, known as the HOAP-3, is part of the Humanoid for Open Architecture Platform and is sponsored by the EU’s Cogniron project, whose mission is to “develop cognitive robots whose ‘purpose in life’ would be to serve humans as assistants or ‘companions’.”

When they hand him the big chef’s knife, though… yikes. As he chops the ham, my head swims with visions of robot overlords crushing the human rebellion with their cleavers. Maybe it’s his flashy light-up eyes and his insanely creepy voice, but I have to ask, is it just me? Or does he seem really, really evil?

Here’s the good news. Even though this robot is pretty sharp- I think his vocabulary is bigger than mine, and his whisking skills aren’t too shabby- he can’t even crack his own eggs. And let’s be honest, HOAP-3 is slow as molasses. Irona, Rosie, and all the other cartoon robot maids were a heckuva lot more efficient. I’m just sayin’.

Made especially for the instant ramen aficionado, this gadget is indeed called the Instant Noodle Perfecting Timer. This gadget is designed with one simple, yet important purpose in mind – to produce the perfect Cup O’ Noodles.

The $25 device offers a timer that counts down the exact amount of time required to perfect your low-budget dinner of champions. When it’s done, an LED lights up and flashes to let you know that your noodles won’t be too soggy, or god forbid, still crunchy.

I wonder how many rocket scientists it took to come up with this one.
