TARDIS Cookies Need Lots of Blue Frosting

Check out these awesome TARDIS gingerbread cookies. They are geekier than you might think. First, they are shaped like the Doctor’s trusty transportation vehicle. Second, they were created with a cookie cutter that was made using a 3D printer. That’s double nerd points my friend.

But where is the absolutely necessary blue frosting? Oh well, that’s probably just too much work, since you’ll want to eat them right away. The details are really nice, even if some detail is lost as it bakes. Too bad the oven doesn’t make the TARDIS sound when they are ready to come out.

Dalek Oreos, Double Stuffing, Double the Extermination

Remember that time when the Doctor bluffed his way out of Dalek extermination by using a Jammie Dodger (which is a British biscuit or cookie) and telling them it was some sort of doomsday device? Well, the Daleks are having some cookie fun of their own.

That would have been a great episode in which to feature these Dalek Oreos. The Daleks could have one-upped him by wheeling out a tray of these guys to kill his cookie.

They certainly are cute and they look delicious. They were made by Flickr user Navaboo with some help from her boyfriend and she was kind enough to share her recipe along with the image here. If you plan on throwing a Doctor Who bash anytime soon, you should serve these up to your guests.

Star Wars Cookies Made from Non Star Wars Holiday Cookie Cutters

Making Star Wars cookies is a great way to geek out during the holidays, but what if you either can’t afford or don’t want to buy special Star Wars cookie cutters? well, here’s a great way to make Star Wars cookies from those plain old holiday cookie cutters that you probably already have.

Check out how Sugarbelle made use of these ordinary cutters to create everything seen above. There’s young Anakin and Chewbacca made from a Santa cutter, a TIE Fighter made from a candy shaped cutter, Yoda made from a spider and more.

After making the shapes, just draw the character or ship on with some icing and you have some amazing Star Wars cookies. May The Force (and the ingredients) be with you.

A safe bet is that most people you know enjoy eating, so, you can’t really go wrong, unless they happen to be deathly afraid of skeletons. So, after being reduced to nothing by an angry fern, I recommend that you keep the violence in your cookies and the cookies in your fern, since it will be angry if you don’t appease it with food. Happy Birthday Star Trek, Celebrate with Enterprise Crew Cookies

On this day 45 years ago, television boldly went where no TV show has gone before. It was on September 8, 1966 that the world got it’s first glimpse of Star Trek and the world would never be the same. What better way to celebrate then with some Star Trek cookies in the shape of the crew.

These cookies are adorable. Too neat to eat. They come from Darla at Bakingdom. If you want to try your hand at baking these yourself, she also shows you how to do it, along with pictures of the baking process.

Dip them in some milk and bite their heads off as if you are Q toying with mere morsels. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Speaking of resistance, it’s futile when it’s comes to these cute cookies. They look a bit like South Park characters.

It’s Time to Bake Some Pixelized Cookies Now That I’ve Got My Pixel Oven Mitts

Here are a child’s best friends: cookies and ice cream. Now here are a not-so-completely-grown-up grown up’s best friends: pixel oven mitts and pixelized cookies.

Sometimes, we need a push to get moving. Baking used to be so fun for me before, but the older I grow (even if I’m just a ripe young twenty-two going on twenty-three in a few days), the more it becomes a chore, like a lot of other things that I used to enjoy and that are supposed to be enjoyable.

But there are some things that we can pick up along the way to spice things up and make everyday chores seem more fun again. Like the Pixel Oven Mitts.

I swear, even just looking at them makes me want to go bake or roast something in my oven just so I would be able to use them. And what could be better than baking cookies with these mitts? Why, if I happened to be baking pixelized cookies too, that’s what. I even found an album on Flickr that aims to teach people exactly how to do that. (And it actually looks more complicated than it sounds or seems.)

Technabob first spotted these pixel mittens a couple of years ago, but they were difficult to come by. Now, you can easily get your hands on a pair of Pixel Oven Mitts on Perpetual Kid for $16.99 (USD).

Magic: The Gathering Cookies: For Hungry Planeswalkers

Renee White aka The Domestic Scientist made these awesome cookies for her husband and his friends, who of course play Magic: The Gathering, prompting the grateful men to bestow upon her the title of cookie goddess.

White used royal icing to paint the design on top of sugar cookies. For her the tricky part was actually painting the mana icons. You’ll see a picture in the gallery of how she used a cookie rack to overlay a pattern to help her paint the icons.

Ninjabread Men Cookie Cutters Will Make Awesome Holiday Treats

As we progress toward Christmas (hey, I walked into the grocery store yesterday and they were wearing Santa hats, so don’t complain to me about it being too early to talk about this stuff) you’ll no doubt start to encounter festive treats such as gingerbread men.

If you’re one of the people making these cookie people, why not think outside the box? Everyone makes gingerbread men, but how many times have you come upon a ninjabread Man? Yeah, that’s what I thought. If you were to pick up a set of these awesome $9 Ninjabread Men Cookie Cutters, you’d be the hit of the office Christmas party.

You’ll want to be careful when preparing these treats. Regardless of the fact that they are cookies, you are still dealing with ninjas. You may want to take extra precautions, such as making pirate cookies as well. We all know that the only way to counter ninjas is with pirates.

Asteroid Cookies: Hyperspace Into My Stomach, Please

I can’t think of a more delicious way to spend an afternoon in the kitchen than making a batch of these most excellent Asteroids cookies.

The guys at Evil Mad Scientist Labs have managed to faithfully reproduce almost every component of the arcade original in yummy cookie form, including tiny spaceships, asteroids of all sizes, a flying saucer, and even little bullets from your ship. About the only thing missing is an edible high score.

The recipe for these vector graphic cookies uses a chocolate graham cracker base and delicately piped on royal icing. But there’s nothing to stop you from making gingerbread or chocolate chip asteroids too. Although I’d personally like to figure out how to make truly black asteroids.

Ooey-Gooey Left 4 Dead 2 Gingerbread Zombies

I can’t think of much that’s less appetizing than zombies, but maybe that’s just me. Maybe painting gingerbread men as comic versions of the baddies from Left 4 Dead 2 can impart a sense of empowerment, a reversal, a sort of “in Russia, you eat zombies” kind of deal.

Or maybe sometimes a hilarious cookie is just a cookie.

Whatever the motive behind these amazing little gingerbread dudes, they are just about perfect, from the daft and simple smiles to the zombie currently in the process of losing his head, these capture a gleeful, happy version of the zombie apocalypse game. You know, something for the holidays, because there’s nothing like zombies for the holidays.

I do believe the wrong zombies are spitting, however. But once eaten, they all look the same.

Grabbin’ Snacks: Left 4 Dead Cookies

It’s really difficult to fight hordes of zombies without some serious snacks. You’ve got to keep your energy up, after all, and most of us don’t find random bottles of energizing pills around… so instead, we eat cookies. And at least one clever and talented individual out there is eating survivor cookies.

I honestly believe these may be the most amazing sugar cookies I’ve ever seen, but I may be biased on account of my raging adoration for all things Left 4 Dead. But check out those little faces! Not only are they pretty accurate, but they’re very well drawn as cookie decorations go. Jocelyn of Snack or Die reportedly used a food coloring pen to achieve those tiny facial features.

All that’s missing are a few sugary speech bubbles attached to the Francis cookies, extolling all of the things he hates, like vans and Ayn Rand.

Half-Life Cookies Put Candy Canes to Shame

A regular person might look at candy cane cookie cutters and think holiday treats. A Half-Life fan, on the other hand, knows there’s a better use for that red icing: Gordon Freeman’s crowbar.

A simple snip in the curl of the cane turns peppermint innocence into tools of edible destruction. Shape the the bottom of the crowbar into a lovely curve of sharpness and bake. It’s that simple–provided you can do simple things like make (or, let’s be real, buy and spread out) dough.

They look pretty tasty even without the icing… just less action-ready.
