If I ever have kids, I’ll be sure to pass on to them everything that I know about anything. Like the joys of reading, or the merits of moderation. And thanks to all of the fascinating things I’ve read about since I started writing here, if someday my kids come to me and ask, “Dad, where can I find some of the strangest shit in the world?” I can confidently say, “Brando.”

alien abduction lamp is just brilliant

Every once in a blue moon I come across a concept that’s just amazing, and this is one of those times.

Combining great design and a sense of humor is tough to pull off, but Artist Lasse Klein’s new Abduction Lamp manages it with ease. His sci-fi inspired lamp design features a light-up UFO, “hovering” above the ground thanks to a glass base that looks like a tractor beam. With a press of the antenna, the whole thing lights up the inside of the metal UFO, casting light out the alien-occupied windows, and down through the glass beam.

While Klein’s lamp is still just in the conceptual stages (that’s a 3D model in the photo above), I can only hope that he decides to produce these for real.
