Ever since the Sony PSP came out about 2 years ago, it’s gotten a pretty bad rap for its relative lack of quality gaming titles, especially when compared to the Nintendo DS. Sure, a handful of innovative games like Lumines and LocoRoco have made their way onto the portable, but for every one good game, there are twenty stinkers. That’s why I’m always excited to see something a little off the beaten path, rather than the next terrible Madden 2000-whatever game.

Enter CRUSH, a new platformer from SEGA for the PSP. Developed by Kuju, the game works on the novel principle that sometimes the 3d camera in a platformer can be your worst enemy (which is totally true.) In the normal course of the game, you’ll be able to “crush” your 3-dimensional gameplay into 2-dimensions. This new gameplay mechanic will enable you to clear some of the more challenging 3D environments, and really makes the game look like it’s two games for the price of one. We’ll have to keep our eyes on this one when it hits stores this Summer.
