The game comes from artist Lee Moyer, designer Keith Baker, and sculptor Paul Komoda. The playing pieces look fantastic, Paul. They should since this game has been a work-in-progress for nearly 20 years. Now it is finally going to get real because their Kickstarter campaign was a success. (Though you still have about 2 weeks to get in on the action.)

This looks much better than all of those other lame Monopoly clones. Hopefully it will have been worth the wait. Supposedly it plays like a combination of Arkham Horror, with play elements of Munchkin thrown in.

This killer axe was made by Ikon Customs using birdseye maple, an appropriately evil pincher claw headstock, and has a purpleheart fretboard with glow-in-the-dark dots. I bet that’s exactly what Cthulhu’s heart looks like – purple with glowing dots. At least that’s what I like to imagine. Of course there’s the monstrous green body in the image of Cthulhu himself – complete with beady red eyes. Here’s another one they built, with a slimy looking yellow and green neck – which also seems appropriate.

Red Wasp Design’s app features an original Cthulhu image that can be opened each day. You’ll find Cthulhu having lots of fun with Santa Claus, mistletoes, and Christmas trees. These fun images have been merged, mixed, mutated and mashed up with other, darker figures from the Cthulhu Mythos.

You’ll also get to answer a Cthulhu-related question each and every day. The tally will be revealed on the 25th, and it will give you your Mythos rating. It’s available at the iTunes App store for iPhone and iPod ($0.99), for iPad ($1.99) and in the Android Market ($1.09).

The calendar was made by David Clayton James Gassaway aka daupo. Each month features a photograph of a polymer clay sculpture finished hand-tinted with ink, also made by daupo. The sculptures all allude to tales and figures from the horrific universe.

It was knit by CraftyPA, and she’s also made one in red, in case the traditional green Cthulhu isn’t for you. For some reason, the red version looks more like Dr. Zoidberg than Cthulhu to me, though. I always wanted to go as Zoidberg for Halloween, so maybe I’ll get that one for my costume for next year. I’ll just need some lobster claws to go with it.

While the cultists are busy praying to the great Cthulhu, others are creating whimsical illustrations about it. Heck, I was even surprised to see Cthulhu in episodes of South Park recently. Karen Portaleo from Highland Bakery is behind this mammoth cephalopod. I’ve actually rarely seen cakes this big and elaborate in person. But despite it’s artistry, those tentacles and suction cups make me not want to eat it at all.

The full gallery of this cake is available here with other cool cakes. It was made for the Georgia Aquarium, so I guess that it’s relevant. There’s a definite creepy quality to this cake, so I wonder if Karen was thinking of Cthulhu while she was making it, or maybe just Zoidberg.

If you’ve ever played any table top RPGs, you’ve probably heard of the Cthulhu Mythos. It was one of the first systems that made it fun to go just plain bonkers. The trick of the game was to just remain sane enough to play.

That being said, these plush Cthulhu shouldn’t make you go crazy, but they’ll sure remind you of Lovecraft’s disturbed universe, wherever you put them. A bunch of different cute and cuddly Cthulhu accessories are available over at Entertainment Earth.

Each chess piece was made by hand without using any mold, ensuring the uniqueness of the set. For the black pieces, Cthulhu is the king of course, and Dagon is the queen. The green pieces have Yog-Sothoth as king and Ubbo-Sathla as queen. Not that I would recognize any of them if they were eating my organs. As for the other pieces, “the bishops of each side are mad alien priests, the knights grotesque mounts with vile curved spines, the rooks writhe horribly within their blasted towers. The black pawns are sinister, writhing spawn of dread Cthulhu, and the green pawns mocking little tentacular skulls.” Topnotch writing, I tell you.

Craftster FicklePegasus has turned an office joke into a handmade gift fit for only the coolest of babies: a soft and cuddly Cthulhu, complete with tentacular arms of love that can hold toys to engage tykes. The intended baby hasn’t even arrived yet and already he has cooler stuff than I do.

FicklePegasus looked at existing Cthulhu crafts and drew inspiration from several patterns for the final product. Here’s guessing it’ll be the most unique gift that kid receives over the next ten years. It’s all downhill from here, kiddo.
