In this case, one artist posed Darth Vader like he’s Jesus Christ himself – a bit of a contradiction with Vader’s Dark Sided ways. In place of the sacred heart is the Death Star, of course.

The piece was created by Spanish designer Lobulo, who has a reputation for his intricate papercraft creations. He works for a few different agencies in Barcelona, and he recently created this awesome papercraft Darth Vader for Argentina’s Göoo Magazine. This astounding piece of Star Wars fan art uses lots of cut bits and strips of paper, carefully layered together, as you can see in the video below:

While Darth Vader might not really work amongst us, it’s funny to think of a dark lord of the Sith just going about his day, taking some calls and having a cup of joe.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was attacked in Orlando early Thursday by the Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. Or at least a man wearing a Darth Vader mask. Had it been the real Vader, it would have ended with the officer being force choked. Instead it ended badly for the faux Sith Lord.

The police received reports of an intoxicated man wearing a Darth Vader mask and walking in the middle of a road near Summerlin Avenue and Anderson Street. The trooper arrived on the scene and asked him to get out of the road several times. At this point I can only assume that Lord Vader told him that he found his lack of faith disturbing, before cursing at the trooper and laying in the roadway. Presumably in an attempt to summon up his force powers.

The trooper then told him to get up, but instead he punched and kicked the trooper, who deployed his Taser. Supposedly the suspects thick jacket prevented the Taser from working, (Our was it the fact that he is more machine than man?), so the trooper used pepper spray to subdue him.

The Light Side always wins.

I can’t keep track of how many releases and re-releases the Star Wars movies have seen since 1977, but the latest takes the <del datetime="2012-01-05T23:15:20+00:00">cake</del> burger. Lucky folks in France will be getting a special treat along with the less than appetizing re-release of The Phantom Menace in 3D.

To celebrate, a French fast food chain named Quick is offering two versions of themed burgers. You can get the Darth Vader burger on a black bun, (I don’t even wanna know how they made it black) and the Jedi burger, which is your typical brown bun that matches Jedi robes. They’ll also be offering a Darth Maul inspired “Dark Burger”, but that really should have a red bun, shouldn’t it?

So if you find yourself in Paris, forget their fancy shmancy gourmet food. Eat like an American and get yourself the usual grub, just Star Wars themed. If anyone eats that Vader burger, let us know about any unusual symptoms you might experience. I’m not trusting the dying process. Could be worse though, the Yoda burger might be moldy as to mimic Dagobah.

Wanna play the Imperial March with a bit of Imperial merch? Well, if you are looking for a new speaker for your desktop, Funko’s Star Wars Darth Vader MP3 speakers are for you. The head of Darth Vader will play whatever you like, without James Earl Jones’ voice as a DJ.

Bring me the head of Darth Vader and plug it into my MP3 player! As far as sound quality, it is likely on par with something that the Ewoks built, but at least it’s cool to look at.

These speakers feature an audio jack and a USB connection, so you can plug one directly into your phone/MP3 player or your computer. They’re available for pre-order from Entertainment Earth for $30(USD) and will arrive in April 2012. Boba Fett and Stormtrooper versions are also on the way.

Take a careful look at this bust of the Dark Lord of the Sith. Notice anything strange about it? Gaze deeply into Vader’s eyes. Look closer, and you’ll notice that it’s made from various bits and bobs of found junk from the cutlery drawer (and other antique stuff from your Nana’s house).

This incredible sculpture is the work of French artist Alain Bellino, and yes, this Darth Vader (or as they call him in France “Dark Vador”) has apparently been around for almost a decade, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it, so that makes it new for at least one of us. So, those eyes I was mentioning before? They’re made from a couple of old tarnished spoons. Yep, you heard me right. Check it out if you don’t believe me:

Building upon these evil eyes, Alain gradually assembled the entire Vader head – first from brass and bronze decorative elements, but then eventually finished it in black, completing his transformation to the Dark Side.

Makes you wonder what Star Wars might have been like with a golden Darth Vader. Seems like something which might have been in some Japanese version of the films. Or maybe in the next CGI revision by Lucas.

While you can already get Han Solo and R2-D2 ice cube trays, I guess the guys at Kotobukiya decided that it was time for the dark side to get into the ice cube business as well. Now, they’ve announced the release of Darth Vader and Stormtrooper ice cube trays to round out their selection.

The trays are made from durable silicone, and cast six large cubes of either the Dark Lord or his white armored minions. To really get the most out of these, I’d fill the Darth Vader ones with grape juice and the Stormtrooper ones with something white, like coconut milk or frozen piña coladas.

I think those white and black(ish) cubes would look much cooler floating in a glass of clear liquid too. Since the trays are made from silicone, they’re actually heat-resistant too, so you could also use them to bake some evil cookies or mini cakes.

But wait, there’s more! They’ve also revealed these sweet Millennium Falcon and X-Wing Fighter trays too. Sweet.

The Falcon seems better suited to baking cookies or larger frozen desserts though, while the X-Wing seems the perfect size for ice cubes.

All four of the new silicone trays will ship in May 2012, and can be pre-ordered from Kotobukiya’s U.S. website. Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Millennium Falcon and X-Wing Fighter ice trays each sell for for $10 (USD). If you want an early jump on them, you might want to check out NCSX, who claims to have a January 2012 release date.

There’s a new exhibition featuring some pretty interesting Star Wars stuff coming to Canada in 2012. It’s called Star Wars: Identities. You will apparently get to know the characters of the Star Wars saga “on a whole new level”. Whatever that may mean, the poster and teaser trailer they released sure are compelling.

At the show, you’ll find costumes, models, and artwork from the movies. The exhibition is supposed to provide a “complete” interactive immersion into the world of Star Wars. It will focus on the characters of Luke and Anakin Skywalker and explore three themes: the origins of the characters, the influences that shaped them, and the choices they made during their lives.

I am a huge ThinkGeek fan thanks to all the geeky cool stuff they have. My favorite thing ever is the Starship Enterprise pizza wheel. I actually own that, and each time I cut a pizza, I force the kids to hum the theme song. One of the latest sci-fi geek offerings on ThinkGeek is this set of three hot drinks for Star Wars fans.

These drink mixes come in their own lithographed metal cans and are branded with one of our favorite characters of the Star Wars universe. The three drinks include Vader’s Dark Side Roast, Chewbacca’s Hoth Cocoa, and Yoda’s Dagobah Green Tea. I could be down with some Hoth Cocoa on a cold day – that sounds good.

The three flavors come together in one set. I’m not sure how large the cans actually are, but there’s just a small sampling of each. There are three ounces of ground coffee, an ounce of tea leaves, and 8 ounces of cocoa mix. That’s not a lot, but let’s face it you are paying for the cans much more than the contents. You can get the set now for $29.99 (USD) over at ThinkGeek.

If you’re a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy like me, then you’ll appreciate Russell Walks‘ limited-edition Star Wars poster, which is officially licensed by Lucasfilm. It features Darth Vader’s silhouette, and since Star Wars is all about Darth Vader, it should make you and your walls pretty happy.

The overall design of the poster is retro and minimal at the same time. It’s got sort of an Art Deco look to it, and it shows Vader in a whole new light (or dark). If you like this design, Russell has created plenty of other cool Star Wars illustrations, like the Boba Fett poster below.

You can find the Darth Vader silhouette poster over at ThinkGeek for $29.99 (USD).

This series of photos were shot by Sacha Goldberger, and they are entitled The Darks Part II. In it, a (anti-)superhero named Dark Papouka befriends Darth Vader and they have some fun together. Darth Vader tries to get into the superhero act by wearing his underwear on the outside of his outfit.

The Dark Lord of the Sith becomes Dark Papouka’s best friend. The photos are pretty funny, especially since Darth Vader is supposed to be pure evil. There’s even a interesting surprise at the end, when Vader takes off his helmet. One clue, he’s not Papouka’s father.

The characters are part of his superhero grandparents series, and they will be featured in a short film that Goldberger plans on releasing in 2012. This is the second series of evil superhero grandpa photos from Sacha. The first can be seen here, and pictures of his superhero grandmother are pretty classic too.

It’s too bad that my entire CD collection is packed away in boxes somewhere in my basement since I converted everything to digital files so I can just carry all my tunes in my pocket. Because if I still listened to CDs, I’d totally buy this Darth Vader CD player.

I first spied this thing back in February, and now you can finally buy it just in time for nobody to listen to CDs anymore. Still, Darth would look cool sitting there on your desk, staring down people, as you watch the spinning platter behind his red eyes.

In terms of features, this thing does have an equally low-tech AM/FM radio, and an old-school telescoping antenna sticking out of the back. It also lets you program the sequence of the tracks on your CDs, which is sort of like a poor-man’s digital shuffle. I suppose you could just skip the whole CD thing, and just plug your MP3 player into Lord Vader’s 3.5mm jack if you so desire.

The Darth Vader CD player is available now over at Hammacher Schlemmer for $69.95 (USD). I think I’ll wait until they come out with a Luke Skywalker 8-track player, or maybe a Chewbacca cassette player.

So why is it that every time I think that all possible ideas for new Star Wars merchandise have been 100% exhausted, someone comes out with yet another product which nobody ever thought about. Case in point, these R2-D2 mints.

Now this particular R2 unit seems to have flipped his lid, but that’s only so you can get at the minty goodness inside, and not because he has a bad motivator unit. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but each mint is also shaped like a little R2-D2 too. It’s too bad that there’s no matching C-3PO candy tin, because they’d look pretty good standing alongside each other on your desk. Oh well, one droid is better than no droids, I suppose.

On the other hand, they will be offering Stormtrooper, Darth Vader and Death Star mints, which freshen your breath with the full power of the Dark Side of the Force.

The R2-D2 mint candy tin is available for pre-order over at Play.com for £3.49 (~$6 USD).

Luke, these are your speakers. Major League Mods – who made the projector equipped R2-D2 Xbox 360 casemod – showed off this Star Wars themed sound system at the recently concluded New York Comic-Con. It has two TIE fighter speakers and a Darth Vader bust converted into an iPhone dock. But the pièce de résistance is the Death Star subwoofer. Rumor has it that it has a knob to control its superlaser.

Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of info about how the models were converted into speakers. I do know that the sound system has a total power output of 200W, and that the TIE fighters each have a Yamaha 2¾-inch mid-range and 1 inch dome tweeter with built-in crossovers, while the Death Star hides a 6½-inch driver and was custom painted by NubGraffix.

Audiophiles will be quick to point out that a 2.1 sound system won’t give you the best sound quality (especially for games or movies) and will barely be enough to distract Yoda from his meditation. Hardcore Star Wars fans could also chastise this mod because the TIE fighters are larger than the Death Star, which is supposed to house thousands of the star fighters in its belly. Both are legitimate complaints, but I’m still very impressed with this mod, especially with regards to the integration of the audio components. You’ll barely notice that they’re speakers unless you look closely. Check out Major League Mods’ Photobucket account for high-res pics.

I am a fan of artwork that takes the movies and things from my youth that l liked and twists it a bit to make it into something else. Over on Etsy there is a dude going by the name Harshness that has a bunch of pop art based on some of my favorite childhood flicks. The art has characters from Star Wars, Gremlins, Goonies, and Ghostbusters.

Those are the flicks I remember most from when I was a kid. The prints are offered in different color backgrounds and such. My favorites are the G-Wok that has a Ewok holding a pistol gangsta’-style in one hand, and an AK-47 in the other. I also like the DJ Yoduh print, it should have a tag line that says “Rock you, I will.”

Boba Phat has our favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett holding a big 80′s boom box. Several of the prints mix vampire themes with classic scenes from the movie. Each of the 12″x 16″ prints sells for $19 (USD), which is surprisingly cheap if you ask me. You need to hit up the artist’s Etsy shop to see all of them.

Even Darth Vader needs a holiday from time to time. After all, there’s more to being a Sith Lord than running the Empire and torturing and killing Jedi. Here you’ll find Darth Vader taking a stroll, going for a surf, using a Segway, and just basically trying to have fun.

Apart from relaxing and sleeping in seedy motel rooms at night, you can expect Darth Vader to take surfing seriously, even if he has to use a white surfboard instead of a more customary dark one.

I don’t think that Darth Vader has needed a hair dryer for a very long time, unless you count the few years that he was still a Jedi apprentice. He did have pretty long, flowing locks back then. Tembolat Gugkaev thought it was a good idea to use Darth Vader’s breathing apparatus as an inspiration for a hair dryer. All I have to say is that the Empire will enjoy nice, dry hair from now on!

The hair dryer looks like the electronic voicebox/breathing apparatus that Anakin Skywalker has to use to talk in his life support suit. You can bet that this will never get made, unless George Lucas licenses it. However, I still like how it looks.

What’s next? A Yoda hair curler, a Boba Fett espresso machine? I can already some winning combinations right there. I can only imagine what kind of kitchen appliances Imperial officers use.

Yesterday, a reader pointed out that the LEGO Death Star I mentioned had been available for a while. That was true, but it was pretty hard to find. Nevertheless, LEGO is planning on releasing Darth Vader’s super star destroyer Executor this September. The Executor was definitely my favorite star destroyer in the original trilogy. I loved the music that went along with it as Darth Vader oversaw his command.

LEGO and Star Wars fans will rejoice when this will be released in a few months. The Executor will measure 50 inches in length – making it the longest LEGO kit you can buy – and will be made up of 3,152 LEGO bricks. The ship will weigh 8 lbs, and features a removable command bridge that will fit a LEGO Darth Vader and a few other minifigs.

Just like the LEGO Death Star, expect to pay $400 (USD) for this baby. At over 4-feet in length, this is going to be a huge build, which should be fun for LEGO and Star Wars fans. LEGO minifigs included in this kit are Darth Vader, IG-88, Bossk and more.
