You never have enough drawers in your desk do you? Or enough surface area for that matter. Whatever desk you have, you are stuck with using it the way it is. The bamboo PixelTable by Studio Intussen is different. This table can be redesigned again and again to suit your needs.

Need an extra surface? Just pull some pixel beams out. Need to put a book in a drawer? Push a few beams in. Not in use? No problem. It all pushes back into the 18″ cube. It’s simple and clever design. Sure it’s basically a pile of sticks, but that’s what makes it so neat.

The only drawback I can see is that you need extra room on either side as you are pushing and pulling the beams, but if you have the room this would be an awesome piece of furniture to display.

These office supplies were created by the Spalvieri/Del Ciotto studio for Lexon. All of these creations are sustainable and are powered by photovoltaic cells. When that’s not enough, they include rechargeable batteries. They are made out of corn plastic, which is eco-friendly and has a unique feel. Even the color scheme is geared to sustainability, as it’s white with green accents.

The Maizy collection includes a radio, LED flashlight, analog and digital alarm clocks and two calculators. Lexon doesn’t advertise retail prices on their wholesale website, but I imagine they’ll be reasonably priced when they hit stores.

Chances are you have too many pencils and pens and no good place to put them. If you got attacked by a zombie, you could defend yourself by stabbing them into his or her head, but then he would just walk away with them, so this zombie head pencil holder is the next best option.

Plus, this one won’t attack you. It also makes a great conversation piece. Each handpainted zombie has 6 holes in its head for holding on to your pencils and pens. Its eyes are magnets to keep your paperclips in one place too, and the removable tongue is a tray for small items and business cards.

The slit in the back of the neck will hold your letters and papers. Since you can’t battle a real zombie and claim his head for your desk, this will have to do for now. The zombie head pencil holder is available for $34.95(USD) over at the Neatoshop.

You might have a big screen, or a fancy desk for your PC or Mac, but I bet you don’t have a rig like this one for using your computer. The MWE Emperor 200 is about the fanciest computer workstation you can buy these days.

This over-the-top looking setup gives you a comfy ergonomic leather seating unit with touch-screen controls, and a view to kill with three computer displays positioned just right for you to lean back and enjoy. The whole thing is motorized too, so you can adjust the angle of your environment without getting up out of your chair. It’s also got a work surface for a keyboard and mouse, and the monitors can be positioned at a flat eye-level if you want to get some work done.

They system wraps you entirely in its scorpion like design, ensuring an immersive experience equaled only by strapping on a super high-def head-mounted display (which doesn’t exist today.) Each LED-backlit LCD screen is a full 24″ display, with HD resolution, and they all connect up to your computer via a set of three HDMI cables. It’s also got built-in LED lighting both above and below the seating area, and a THX surround sound system. Each one is hand-built to your exact requirements, and even has an air filtration system on board.

MWE offers the Emperor 200 in other colors, so if white isn’t your thing, you can go with something a little bolder like red or black – which makes the whole scorpion thing much more effective. Priced at a whopping $44,750 (USD), this thing is definitely the Porsche of computer workstations. Though for that price, they should throw in a computer with the proper display cards an Xbox 360 and a PS3. The chair should have a massager too. Really, how much would that eat into their profit margins to throw those in?

If $45k is too rich for your blood, you might want to check out MWE’s “bargain priced” Emporer 1510, which does away with the fancy finishes and touchscreen remote, (plus you need to BYO displays), but is considerably more accessible with prices starting at “just” $6,200.

With all of the modern ways (apps, iPhones, and your watch) to let you know of elapsed time, it’s kind of cool to get a desk clock that does the same. Unlike other timepieces, this thing is right in your face. The Countdown Clock reminds me of the Events Countdown Clock, but in a nicer package.

The Countdown Clock allows you to count days, hours, minutes and seconds until important dates, such as birthdays, weddings, lunch, or your next vacation. You easily can load the clock up with your own important dates. There are control buttons that allow you to go through them quickly and select the ones you want to obsess about. You can even program it to display custom messages. It will also count upwards – so you can know how long it’s been since you started that diet, or how old your cat is.

The clock measures about 3.3″(W) x 3.7″(H) x 3.3″(D) so you can put it just about anywhere you’d like. You can find the Countdown Clock at Firebox for £19.99 (~$31 USD).

I like my job most days, I don’t have to wear pants, I can get all the drinks and snacks I want, and I don’t have to worry that someone will catch me watching the occasional YouTube video on the job. The downside is I have a crazy schedule and can’t find much time to do anything away from my desk during the day. I bet that many people with “normal” office jobs are the same way. Hammacher Schlemmer has a weird desk that uses exercise technology to let you stay in shape while chained to your desk.

The product is called the Elliptical Machine Office Desk. The desk includes a semi-recumbent elliptical machine with electronic resistance control. The little screen with the curved top you see on the left in the photos is the control panel for that exercise gear. It will operate at slow speeds so you can concentrate and the screen keeps up with the RPM, calories burned, and distance ridden for up to 30 different people.

The desk is cool too with a height adjustment to accommodate people up to 6’9″ and fit that elliptical underneath. It also has a rail system for mounting your computer LCD. The big downside is that the desk and exercise gear costs $8,000 (USD) plus a $450 shipping fee. The upside is that for those of us that are lazy the price is yet another excuse to skip exercising.

If you’re like me, your old Nintendo GameCube is either gathering dust in a closet somewhere, or you’ve eBayed it by now. But there is one other thing you could do with your GameCube – turn it into a desktop organizer.

Actually, turning your GameCube into a desktop caddy is a task best left to the pros, like Etsy seller GreenCüb, whose tagline is simply “Office Supplies Made from Recycled Video Game Systems”. At this point the only said office supply is their GameCube caddy, which offers ample storage for your paperclips, pushpins, pens and other desktop doo-dads.

Each organizer is made from an actual (broken) GameCube, and features a handy metal tray in place of the disc drive, a pull-out drawer where the controllers once plugged in, a magnetic paperclip caddy on the vent holes, and pen/pencil holes in place of the Power and Reset buttons. There’s even a little shelf on back for storing your iPhone or other compact gadget too.

Sure, I suppose you could try and do this yourself, but I’d suggest that you head on over to GreenCüb’s Etsy shop and just buy one ready-made. Prices range from $39 to $49 (USD), depending on the particular GameCube model you want.

Unfortunately, Scott’s employer is shutting down, and his Fortress needs a new home. Why not help a brother out, and make it yours?

The entire Fortress rig is available now over on eBay. Scott built the diorama in an “L” shape, but says it could be modified to fit another setting too. It’s made from a wooden base, with three sizes of paper “crystal” tubes that slide over acrylic mounts. There are also a number of LEDs throughout the setup to make the whole thing glow.

There are currently no bids on the Fortress, and Scott will let the whole thing go for a Buy it Now price of $450. Keep in mind that since this thing will be difficult to transport, he’d prefer a local pickup somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I think this is an extremely smart idea. It’s a dock that transforms your iPhone into a desk phone. It’s perfect for everyone that uses the iPhone as their main telephone.

Even though most people use their iPhone a lot, it’s true that many of us still have land line or an IP phone on their desk. With the Desk Phone Dock, you can use your iPhone as your sole telephone.

What’s cool is that you can call and receive phone calls like any traditional phone using the desktop handset. It also works as an audio and charging dock for your iPhone and has two built-in speakers, a mic, a prominent volume control knob, and an instant mute feature. It’s not available yet, but is expected to be released in the near future.

While integrating a computer into a desk isn’t exactly an original idea, Will Urbina’s “The Desk” casemod is (literally) flashy and makes no effort whatsoever to hide the fact that the desk itself is the computer. It’s all Plexiglas and steel and blue LEDs.

It’s hard to believe that this is Urbina’s first casemod, and I also find it hard to believe Urbina when he says that “The Desk’s function is to just get things done”, because if I had to work using The Desk I would be extremely distracted by the lights and the innards.

Speaking of innards, The Desk gets things done with the help of the following: An Intel Q6600 G0 CPU running at 3.5 GHz, Abit IP35 Pro motherboard, four 2 GB Corsair DDR2 for a total of 8 GB, an HIS HD2900 XT 512mb video card, an SB X-Fi Elite Pro sound card, two Ultra 550w power supply units, two 500gb Western Digital hard drive in Raid 0, a 320gb Seagate PATA and a 250gb WD SATA drive.

But that’s not all: see the tower sitting on top of The Desk?

Urbina built the tower – which by the way, is called, “The Tower” – so that he can turn off his additional hard drives individually. The Tower contains 5 disks – with room for 1 more – bringing The Desk’s total capacity to 3.62 terabytes. Urbina is especially proud of The Desk not just because it’s won several awards in case mod competitions, but because it’s his everyday computer. Check out his website for more pics.

Wow, that sounds like it could be the premise for a buddy movie, or at least a webshow: a computer and desk as one slick, sleek unit, together forever, fighting crime while bandying witticisms (or declaring that shit just got real). But no, it’s a mod, a super mod, a hybrid of furniture and machine that serves as the anchor for the ultimate office experience: the watercooled PC desk.

Beautiful. And it hurts my heart a little, because I too have the ubiquitous beige carpet in my office, as well as a similar monitor, and a desk chair not unlike the one in this picture. Unfortunately, my desk is a gigantic, hulking creation that is most assuredly not fitted with a custom machine.

It’s even lovelier up close:

I take some small solace in the fact that the glass window down into the workings of the beast might at least serve as a distraction, as petty as it may be. I can’t help it; I’m burning with jealousy over here.

It’s all built from the ground up: desk and computer, custom designed to fit the maker’s needs. Even the reservoir was designed specifically to fit this desk. And now that it’s finished? He needs to start making them for everyone else!

Looking for a zippy way to get around town? Sure, you could buy a car, or a bike, or maybe even a Segway, right? Well what about a bed on wheels? At least that way you could take a nap if you get stuck in traffic, right?

Auto-modder Edd China of Cummfy Banana has fabricated these ridiculous motor vehicles, fashioned to look like ordinary furniture. In addition to the speedy bed pictured above, he’s also built an oversize office desk on wheels, complete with multiple swivel chairs.

But his pride and joy is the “Casual Lofa,” which was once listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the “world’s fastest furniture”. The Lofa is a motorized sofa that tops out a speed of 87 MPH. (Edd beat his own record sofa speed in 2007, by getting a sofa to drive 92 MPH – go figure).

If you happen to live in the UK, you can get a chance to take a ride on all of these vehicular monstrosities thanks to a special “day at the races” tour package that lets you experience them all.

Looking for a really cool lamp to replace that cheap IKEA lighting fixture on your desk? As long as you’re willing to drop a little dough, this Italian designer lamp is sure to impress.

Designed by Iliara Marelli for Nemo Italianaluce, the Chain Lamp is a real thing of beauty. Made from case aluminum and lit by 4 bright white (1-watt) LEDs, its articulating body folds flat to form an accent light when you’re not using it for task illumination. When completely closed, it measures just 2.75″ tall (and looks like a high tech stapler). Open it up, and it can reach up to almost 22″ in height.

Of course, all this elegance comes at a cost. With an MSRP of $595 USD (and a street price around $450), the lamp sure isn’t cheap. But it should look damn fine sitting on your desk along that brand new 24-inch aluminum iMac you just dropped a couple of grand on, right? Ready to plunk down your hard earned cash? Head on over to CSN Lighting and place your order now.

These clever desk lamps get their inspiration from classic LEGO building blocks. Designed by Taiwan’s 25togo, these LED illuminated acrylic block lamps look just like a giant-size version of the popular plastic playthings.

The blocks have a snap-off top layer that’s designed to hold pens, pencils and other office items. Each brick measures in at appx. 6″ × 4″ × 2.4″, making them about 100 times larger than a 2×3 peg standard LEGO.

While they don’t actually show multiple lamps interlocked, I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t stack a bunch of these lamps to create large, illuminated sculptures.

At this point, the lamps are available only through 25togo’s online shop, and sell for 1600 Taiwan Dollars (appx. $50 USD) each.

Here’s a unique computer desk design. The ScooterDesk is a self-contained workstation which lets you sit and scoot around your office without leaving your desk.

Created by the Belgian sustainable furniture design firm Utilia, the ScooterDesk gives you a solid work surface for your laptop, and lets you sit in a comfortable upright position while you work. The desk is also available in a dual version which lets you sit side-by-side with another person. Assuming you can agree on what direction to go in, the dual model could be a good idea for pair-programming teams.

While I don’t think you could sit on a bicycle seat all day while working at your computer, it’s an cool idea for quick tasks like filling out forms, taking meeting notes or sending the occasional e-mail.

The dreadfully named “Whack It” game connects to your USB port and lets you play with yourself at your desk.

No, they’re not really moles. The little dudes look more like oversize red, yellow and green LEDs. Nor does the game come with a mallet like the original carny game. Since it’s so small, you just feverishly tap on the currently illuminated guy with your fingertip.

If you can get over the name, you can pick one up from UK gadget shop Gadget-Box for £12.49 (about $25 USD.)

But just like its namesake, the light is a bit of a dim bulb, so don’t expect to light up an entire room with it.

Homer lounges lazily in his easy chair while providing a source of supplemental light on your work surface. The lampshade is adjustable and has 4 LEDs to provide just a little bit of accent light. Just plug it in to a spare USB port on your computer and you’re set.

If you’re a big Homer fan, you can pick one up for $19.99 from perpetual kid.
