Daleks Land on Top of Wedding Cake

Nothing says “Exterminate!” like a wedding. And it is you who is being exterminated. Your free time will be exterminated, hanging out with your friends on the weekend will be exterminated. That huge Star Trek Enterprise replica you have displayed on your kitchen table? Exterminated. All gone. You may as well have some Dalek Cake toppers on your wedding cake.

These cake toppers come courtesy of Geeks Are Sexy reader, Lee. These Daleks were originally pencil toppers and are the newer versions of the Daleks. The veil was made from a piece of old lace ribbon. The top hat comes from the middle of a cotton reel. The colors of the Daleks matched the color scheme of the wedding.

I hope they live geekily ever after.

TARDIS Watch Can’t Travel Through Time But Can Tell It

There is no shortage of cool geek watches out there, but few are as stunning as this simple TARDIS watch, with its simple and elegant design. What else is a Timelord going to wear?

What I love about this watch is that they managed to capture the TARDIS design so perfectly, while still retaining its functionality as a watch. The strap is blue of course, with a nice “Police Box” detail near the clasp and the watch face is the white design on the TARDIS door proclaiming that it is free for use of the public.

I think they have hit a homerun with this one and it isn’t super expensive either, at just $49.99(USD). You can find it at Entertainment Earth. It is available for pre-order now and it will come in August. Best Doctor Who watch ever!

We’ve seen TARDIS corsets before, but not like this. There’s something extra sexy about a TARDIS corset when it’s matched with a shirt and police box themed bow tie.

I think the image above proves that you could have a female Doctor Who and still have a successful TV show. If this woman stepped out of the TARDIS looking like that, I would join her and be her companion quicker than you geeks can name all of the actors that ever played the doctor.

Aperture Science Dalek Exterminates All Test Subjects

Daleks pop up in many forms. You have the old Daleks, the new Daleks, the new new Daleks with the retro colors and funny build and now a Dalek from Aperture Science. Looks like the Doctor is going to be busy.

It doesn’t end there. Over at the Dalek Factor they have all kinds of crazy non-canon Daleks. How about a Futurama Dalek? Or what if Leonardo Davinci had built a Dalek?

These are all cool, but we don’t need any more Daleks thank you. Haven’t they caused enough trouble? Plus, their voices are terrible. They cut right through your ears and assault your brain as if with a sonic plunger hand. You would think that the Doctor would have been able to shut them up by now.

Scientists Building Doctor Who’s Sonic Screwdriver

Dundee University researchers have created Doctor Who’s sonic screwdriver. Or at least a rough version. The machine can use ultrasound to lift and rotate a rubber disc floating in a cylinder of water. This is important because it is the first time ultrasound waves have been used to turn objects instead of pushing them. It means that we are one step closer to a real life Sonic Screwdriver.

The study could make surgery using ultrasound techniques more precise, but more importantly, one day it might go in your pocket and help you escape a horde of Daleks. It might also help get you a cute sidekick.

The scientists used energy from an ultrasound array to form a beam. This beam can carry momentum to push away an object in its path and, by using a beam shaped like a helix or vortex, cause the object to rotate. Hence, “unscrewing”. Next I hope they work on some psychic paper.

TARDIS Sock Monkey: More Bananas on the Inside

Remember when the 9th Doctor really enjoyed a good banana? Now we know why. He must have been a monkey in one regeneration, with a matching TARDIS. Oh wait, he must have been a monkey who merged with the TARDIS at some point. Maybe I missed an episode.

The TARDIS sock monkey was made by kwiltykate on Craftster. Obviously she was just monkeying around when she created it. I imagine that the Time Lords have simply de-volved and are now called Time Simians. They preside over time and space in much the same way that apes came to rule the Earth in Planet of the Apes.

Hey, why wasn’t there a Doctor Who movie featuring Charlton Heston? “Take your stinking paws off my TARDIS, you damned dirty ape!”

This TARDIS Ring is Fit for a Timelord

Whovians, check out this amazing TARDIS ring. It keeps things classy and manages to put a police box on your finger. Not that the Doctor could or would ever commit to a single companion for the rest of his long life.

But just because the Doctor can’t commit, doesn’t mean you can’t. This is the best gift you could give your geeky other half when you pop the big question. How could they not say yes? This TARDIS ring was created by Tumblr user Pathetic Paripatetic because he was bored. I wonder what sort of stuff he could achieve if he wasn’t.

Its a Police Box based ring with a tension set 1CT Princess Cut center stone. The three round stones is the Police Box sign, the two sets of four baguettes symbolize the windows, and a small princess cut below that to symbolize the instructions found on the front of the Police Box.

It’s an amazing piece of jewelry. I can’t imagine that anyone could top this geeky ring. Not even the Doctor himself.

The GuiTARDIS: Long Live Timelord Rock

Doctor Who would have been an entirely different show if he had carried this guitar with him from adventure to adventure. He basically could have put on concerts across time and space. Maybe even drop in on Woodstock and Live Aid.

Maybe we would have even seen him serenade some of his cute companions. Perhaps, even, the show would have been a straight up musical – like Glee, but with Daleks instead of Sue Sylvester. I’m kinda sorry that didn’t happen. This “regenerated” version of the GuiTARDIS is called the Patrick Troughton since it is the second version of the guitar.

It was made by Arthur Yet Lew, who obviously likes himself some police box rock. Here he is standing next to a Delorean with his GuiTARDIS. I wonder if that will cause some sort of a rift in the space-time continuum.

TARDIS in a Bottle, Which is Bigger on the Inside?

You’ve seen the old ship in a bottle, and the airplane in a lightbulb, but I bet you’ve never seen a TARDIS in a bottle before. That’s because the Doctor tries his best not to materialize inside confined spaces. Especially bottles. Especially bottles full of liquid.

I am amazed by people making ships in bottles, but I at least know some of the tricks as to how they do it. I’m extra impressed at putting something as big as a TARDIS in a bottle. How in the hell did they do that? It could be a devious trap by The Master, but it is actually a project made by hpotterwizard.

The materials used are balsa, wood glue, a glass bottle, a cork, sand and more patience than I have. Looks like you can put time (and space) in a bottle after all.

TARDIS Smart Safe Up for U.S. Pre-Order Now

Back in January, we shared a couple of geeky high-tech toy safes. One of them looked like the TARDIS from Doctor Who (the other looked like R2-D2.) At the time we first heard about thems, they were only headed for the U.K. If you got all hot and bothered by the thought of the TARDIS version, you can actually pre-order it in the U.S. right now.

The TARDIS Smart Safe is now available for $49.99 from the Big Bad Toy Store. In case you don’t recall, the safe has a slot on top where you can put your iPhone, iPod Touch or Android phone, and the front door of the safe opens when you type the correct code into the accompanying app.

The safe should start shipping in the United States this July. And if you’re one of the two people on the planet without a smartphone, you can also find a TARDIS safe which is secured with a good old lock and key.

Stained Glass TARDIS from the Church of Whovians

Is it bigger on the inside? No, but since it is made of stained glass, all of the light gathers inside, probably creating some kind of infinity anomaly that could turn this into a real TARDIS. If Time Lords actually went to church, this is probably what their church would look like.

It was created as an art class project, by Alexandria. The top comes off, so she plans to use it as a candy jar. That’s a great idea because candy always tastes better when it comes from a TARDIS.

That’s clearly because candy ages just right after it travels through time and space. This is great work and we look forward to her future projects, which she says will have Doctor Who and Star Trek themes. Awesome job, Alexandra.

11th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Scarf Fixes Nothing but Cold Necks

Doctor Who’s Sonic Screwdriver is pretty versatile. It can rewire an electrical control box, can open just about any door, can scan aliens and now it can also keep your neck warm when visiting cold planets.

This knitted scarf comes from Etsy seller MyAlterknits and is a warm and toasty replica of the The 11th Doctor’s (Matt Smith’s) Sonic Screwdriver. The scarf is five feet ten and a half inches long and seven inches at it’s widest point. It’s also reversible of course. While it will keep you warm, it probably won’t be able to repair any broken stuff.

This is for serious Whovians only as it will cost you $140(USD), but I say it’s worth it if you’re a big fan of the show (and live somewhere cold). It’s not everyday you see a Sonic Screwdriver scarf. It will certainly make you stand out and you will be the envy of every geek who sees you.

DIY TARDIS Charging Station is Literally a Phonebox

If you need somewhere special to put your phone while charging it, you might want to check out this TARDIS charging station, designed by Haley Pierson-Cox. It’s pretty adorable if you are a Doctor Who fan.

Even if it serves no other function than to act as a cozy for your phone, this is a pretty cute little blue box. If you want to try making one yourself, it looks fairly easy if you have basic sewing skills. You can find the instructions here.

Not only is this a great way to charge your phone, but all of your friends will be jealous at the office. I guess that means you’d better be careful that they don’t steal it. Remember, that’s how the Doctor got his TARDIS. Just “borrowed” it and never looked back.

TARDIS Valentine’s Day Card Has Big Love on the Inside

This handmade card is sweet on the outside and even sweeter on the inside.

So that’s how he does it. I always wondered what got all those ladies into the TARDIS. Aside from wanting to travel through time and space anyway.

TARDIS and R2-D2 Safes Secure Your Stuff Through the Power of Science Fiction

Whether you’re into Doctor Who or Star Wars (or both) – there’s a new way for you to secure your small valuables. These new digital “smartsafes” were spotted during the 2012 UK Toy Fair, and they look pretty nifty.

For starters, there’s a safe that looks just like the TARDIS, complete with all the appropriate blue Police Box details, including a flashing blue light on the roof. It looks like it’s a pretty decent size, and could hold small, but precious things like coins, jewelry or even small documents. Of course, there’s no telling if they might get transported to some other time or dimension once you put them in there and shut the door.

Star Wars fans can skip the TARDIS and go straight for the R2-D2 safe, which finally proves that there wasn’t actually a little person inside of the droid, but a hollow storage compartment perfect for holding onto your precious galactic credits and other goodies.

Each safe locks using an app which runs on your iPhone, iPod Touch or Android phone which outputs a series of blinking lights when docked – so your only key is a mobile device with your code keyed in. Of course, the biggest problem with small safes like these is that if a criminal really wanted what was inside, they could just pick it up and crack it open with a lightsaber, a sonic blaster, or a ball-peen hammer.

Both safes both come from UK watch and gadget company Zeon, and are expected in stores sometime around June.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock Trailer Released

After teasing us back in December, we now have the first full-length trailer for the new Doctor Who video game The Eternity Clock. I have mixed emotions about this one. It looks like the game will be combining old-school platforming with third-person action and cutscenes. I like everything about it, except for how the characters look and move.

From what I can make out in this trailer, the character’s faces all look a bit strange and at times very claymation-like. And look at how the characters all move around. Doctor Who needs to be cool, not look like he went back in the TARDIS and got stuck in an old copy of Prince of Persia. Let’s hope they work on tuning visuals a bit more before the final game releases this March.

Everything else looks great. Will I still play it? Of course. It’s Doctor Who. Will I enjoy it? Hopefully, but I doubt it – given the abysmal track record of game and TV show/movie tie-ins. What do you guys think?

TARDIS Cookies Need Lots of Blue Frosting

Check out these awesome TARDIS gingerbread cookies. They are geekier than you might think. First, they are shaped like the Doctor’s trusty transportation vehicle. Second, they were created with a cookie cutter that was made using a 3D printer. That’s double nerd points my friend.

But where is the absolutely necessary blue frosting? Oh well, that’s probably just too much work, since you’ll want to eat them right away. The details are really nice, even if some detail is lost as it bakes. Too bad the oven doesn’t make the TARDIS sound when they are ready to come out.

If you have access to a 3D printer and want to make your own TARDIS cookie cutter, you can find the instructions here. Then just bake some and share with all your friends across time and relative dimension in space.

The TARDIS Purse, Finally the Doctor is the Companion

Some women carry so much junk in their purses, they could definitely use something that’s bigger on the inside. Like a TARDIS. No wonder TARDIS purses are becoming more popular. We recently told you about this TARDIS purse, but I think the one shown here is much neater. It probably still won’t hold all of your things, but it’s nice to see the woman toting around the Doctor for once.

This thing ought to make quite a few men want to start carrying handbags. Etsy seller LIMOchi makes them to order and it looks quality made indeed. It measures about 11″ x 6.25″ x 6.25″.

Made of blue poly leather and rigid cardboard, it is even rain-resistant and custom details can be added if you like. Any girl who carries this thing is the girl of my dreams.

Dalek Oreos, Double Stuffing, Double the Extermination

Remember that time when the Doctor bluffed his way out of Dalek extermination by using a Jammie Dodger (which is a British biscuit or cookie) and telling them it was some sort of doomsday device? Well, the Daleks are having some cookie fun of their own.

That would have been a great episode in which to feature these Dalek Oreos. The Daleks could have one-upped him by wheeling out a tray of these guys to kill his cookie.

They certainly are cute and they look delicious. They were made by Flickr user Navaboo with some help from her boyfriend and she was kind enough to share her recipe along with the image here. If you plan on throwing a Doctor Who bash anytime soon, you should serve these up to your guests.

Doctor Who and Link Hockey Jerseys for Time-Traveling Teams

Hey ice boxers – I mean hockey fans! Take five and get a load of the second batch of geeky hockey jerseys by Dave Delisle. After what must have been a successful run of his Game of Thrones and Voltron jerseys, Delisle decided to make Doctor Who and Zelda jerseys. By Zelda of course, I mean Link.

That’s the TARDIS-inspired Doctor Who jersey, complete with Police Box window graphic on the front and TARDIS shoulder patches. I don’t know if it’s bigger on the inside. Below is the Zelda jersey, which I think looks more bad ass, especially with the shield graphic.

Initially, just like with the first batch Dave had three designs, with the third one based on Battlestar Galactica. Unfortunately for BSG fans NBC Universal sent him a Cease and Desist request, which Dave promptly followed. You can view the banned design on Google’s cache of Dave’s web page if you like. Or we can just be happy with what we have and order the remaining jerseys. They cost $80 (USD) each and will only be sold until January 19, 2012. Head to Dave’s website to order.
