I’m a sucker for anything that’s interactive, from books and posters to shoes and dresses. By “interactive,” I mean it adds an extra dimension or comes incorporated with a certain element based on the inspiration behind its design. Take this gumball machine dress, for example.

Currently available from Coyote Peyote’s shop on Etsy, the dress features neon gumball beads all over the bottom, while a number of them are sewn into a clear plastic material near the middle of the dress.

It’s a fun dress, although I don’t think I’m daring enough to wear it out myself. What would make it even cooler than it is right now is if the gumball machine could actually dispense real gumballs somehow to anyone who wants one (well, anyone you know.) Now wouldn’t that be something?

The Bubblegum Machine Dress is available in sizes XS to XL for $135(USD).

It’s more common than you think. Seeing a buttcrack or a buttcrack cleavage, I mean. I can’t speak for everyone, but I find it extremely uncomfortable whenever I do spot one because I know I’d eventually have to tell that person to straighten up to hide the crack.

So you can just imagine how long my mouth was agape when I stumbled on the Buttcrack Cleavage Dress. It’s basically an article of clothing celebrating the wonder (and beauty?) that is the female buttcrack.

Warning: Do not scroll down if you are easily offended by buttcrack.

And while it may be called the “buttcrack cleavage” dress, we might as well just call it the butt-exposing dress because I think we’re definitely seeing more than just the buttcrack cleavage here.

It was available on Etsy on LinaSpyroS’s shop and was sold quickly on February 2. It’s probably the only one of its kind, so if you do spot someone wearing it, then you know where she got it from.

Facebook has taken over a lot of lives, and I mean that literally, in the past few years since it’s quick rise to fame. It’s not uncommon to find people feverishly posting photos via mobile and updating their status every other minute based on every single whim and thought that enters their head.

So what do you get when you cross up-and-coming designer Lana Bălana (link slightly NSFW) and Facebook? The Facebook dress, obviously. The detail or fit isn’t something to be impressed with, but it’s the whole idea that gets to me. We’ve all heard about girls who wear their hearts on their sleeve, so now it’s time for you to meet the girl with her Facebook profile on her, well, body.

This isn’t available for sale, as it was one of the pieces in Lana’s graduation collection. She relates the dress to the evolution of women, “from the initial stage of nudity up to her upgraded virtual level of being.”

Looks to me like women’s evolution has now come to the point of dresses made from cut-up tarpaulin sewn together with some plastic material to put it all together. But hey, that’s just me.

If your fashion tastes lean more towards the geek than the gross like Lady GaGa’s meat dress, the cool color-changing mood dress might be for you.

The gown is made using SKIN technology and the dress has bubbles on it that glow and change colors depending on the wearers body heat or mood.

The dress was made by Francesca Rosella of CuteCircuit. It’s sort of like a wearable mood ring, only it’s a dress. It isn’t as sexy as that LED snowball dress, but it’s cool.

I think mood clothing is a great idea, that way I could tell at a glance if I should talk to my wife or run and hide.

You might recall those geeky circuit board ties we featured earlier by Enlighted Designs that had several LED lights running through the entire design to give them a more authentic look.

Well, the woman behind all that illuminated clothing, Janet Hansen, is at it again, but this time, she’s made something for the ladies: the Snowball Mini Dress.

The dress doesn’t look like something that women would normally wear for regular occasions (except, of course, if they were Lady Gaga or trying to channel her sense of style or something.) Another occasion this dress would be appropriate for is Halloween.

While it’s definitely on the sexy side, given its length, I don’t think this is a dress that many people could pull off for family dinners or office parties at all.

The literal highlight of the dress comes when the lights go out. Just flick a switch and instantly be the bearer of light center of attention center of attraction (at least, to the light seekers) in the room.

The dresses are made-to-order and have actually made several appearances over the years at events and fashion shows. If you want to have one custom made for you, then you might want to drop Janet a line or two.

After seeing Miss Death Star the other day, it made me wonder what other cool, retro geek-chic outfits were out there for those of you without the time to make a DIY cosplay getup. These tube dresses will allow you to dress up like a life-size Nintendo Game Boy.

Each one is sewn from a jersey knit fabric, in colors everyone will identify with the Nintendo Game Boy. They come with some felt A/B buttons, as well as some ones for Start and Select, all placed in potentially inappropriate locations for pushing, unless you’re very intimate with its wearer.

While this particular Nintendo dress just sold yesterday, you can be sure that Etsy shop HereandThereVintage will continue to offer some pretty cool clothing for all geekettes. She’s got other versions of the same dress, which look just as cool.

The Game Boy dress sells for $65-70 (USD). And if they’re sold out, be sure to check out SewOeno’s Game Boy tube dress we featured last year.

I’m sure all Star Wars fans are going a bit loony over this, and I have to say that it looks pretty good.

Jennifer premiered her dress at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. She had seen a Death Star costume before, and loved the idea of cosplay, which is why she came up with this dress. The Death Star shape comes from an exaggerated bubble skirt. To go with it, she came up with the character Miss Death Star.

The main shape was made out of a papier-machéed beach ball, which was then deflated and cut in half. She cut a hole into it and inserted a salad bowl. All in all, it looks pretty great, don’t you think? Darth Vader sure would be proud.

I was really pumped about this story for a few minutes. I thought all those donations to research institutions had finally paid off and science had created a woman with four boobs. Sadly, those two protrusions on the hips area aren’t extra breasts. Guys, our dreams of getting to second base and third base in one move are dashed. But this sensor-laden dress does have a trick up its (lack of) sleeves – that alien-looking camelback on it holds drinks.

Anouk Wipprecht’s DareDroid dress will dispense drinks depending on how charming you are. If you aren’t particularly charming to the host, you get a nasty glass of lukewarm milk. If you are charming, you get an alcoholic beverage – a White Russian. That part in the cleavage area is where the drinks are dispensed from.

Apparently walking up to the dress wearer triggers the sensors to produce milk. If you will play truth or dare with the wearer, your charm will get another drink. Yes, it’s as weird as it sounds. Check out the video and see the dress in action.

She studies at the University of São Paulo in Brazil and came up with this wonderful idea for one of her classes.

The dress is supposed to light up like when the snow sparkles at night. The LEDs underneath the skirt will only light up if the skirt and a ring come in contact which each other thanks to a magnetic switch. I suppose the lights would help her be seen at night, but they strike me as more of an artistic statement than anything else.

Actually, no. It actually has to be cool. Here’s a little something for you gamer grlz out there who have a fond place in your hearts for your old Nintendo Game Boy.

Textile crafter Amber over at Sew-Oeno is seen here modeling her latest creation, the Nintendo Game Boy tube dress. It’s made out of a gray knit fabric and embellished with the familiar red and black buttons and grey screen of the classic 8-bit handheld.

While it’s not as functional as say, the actual working Game Boy costume, it is pretty cool for someone who can actually fit into a tube dress. And while you’ll probably wear this thing with black tights underneath, you could always wear a pair Space Invaders tights with them if you feel really confident.

The medium-sized Game Boy tube dress can be found over at Sew-Oeno’s Etsy shop for $60 (USD). She’ll also quote you for one in your size if you drop her a note.

This incredibly designed dress will react to the air quality and pollution levels by pulsating hundreds of LED lights.

This dress was created by Diffus. It’s kind of amazing that it includes all of those LED lights. If the level of pollution increases around it, the lights start pulsating faster and faster, making a nifty air quality sensor.

The LEDs are wired to a small microprocessor chip that includes a carbon dioxide detector. I’m not sure that this dress will ever be mass-produced, but it’s a really cool idea. It gives the wearer an easy way of gauging the air quality.

With LEDs and OLEDs becoming smaller and smaller, as well as more and more efficient, I wonder if we’ll see more of these lights integrated into clothing. Something like this certainly would impact our environmental awareness.

Created by Dutch designer Stijn Ossevoort, Flare is a dress embroidered with wind-sensitive lights, arranged to form dandelions. Just imagine – it’s your wedding day, and it’s at the beach, just like you’ve always imagined it. You’re walking along the shore, the wind caressing your dress, not only making it ripple but also causing lights to twinkle. And as the chilly waves reach out and gently surprise your feet, you feel…a tingle. Then a buzz. Then a full on electrocution. Way to go out in style.

Just kidding. And even if the electronics on Flare are affected by water, I think the worst that could happen would be the lights shorting out. I hope.

I like how the electronics enhance but don’t overwhelm the dress. Ossevoort’s work shows that geeky fashion goes way beyond Star Wars t-shirts and video game-themed sneakers. Not that there’s anything bad about those.

Want to really stand out the next time you go out clubbin’? Then look no further than these totally over-the-top illuminated clothes from LumiGram.

For a casual night out, why not try on one of Lumigram’s Lumitop fiber optic tops? Each one is powered by a compact battery pack connected to a bright LED light source, and provides ample illumination to light up any pair of boobies that need a little extra attention.

For a more formal occasion – say some sort of elegant ball being thrown for the leaders of the United Federation of Planets – there’s the Lumitop Sophia dress, an intricate dress that’s woven from a ridiculous amount of fiber optic wire and features a colorful LED belt. I’m really hoping to see some star walking down the red carpet wearing one of these for the Oscars.

Of course, Lumigram doesn’t discriminate. While they don’t yet offer any light-up 3-piece suits, they do offer a Lumitop for guys – assuming you’re a guy named Bruno.

And once you wear light-up clothes, you’re guaranteed to have as much fun as the people in this video clip. I promise.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

I want to party with these guys. And listen to their dance music. And learn their dance moves (both of their dance moves). Light up clothes are truly the future of fashion. You heard it here first on Technabob.

While LumiGram’s trademark style is the colorful glowing fiber optics shown above, you really got to love any company that sells a product called the LumiX LED Thong. I really want to party with these guys.
