Star Wars Easter Eggs: The Eggpire Strikes Back

How did you guys like your Easter egg hunts? To be honest, I have rarely participated in any, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate some good geeky Easter eggs. Check out this bunch from Flickr contributor smile!mermaid that Star Wars geeks will love.

The collection includes eggy versions of Yoda, Darth Vader, Jabba the Hutt, Darth Maul, C-3P0, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. I think that the Darth Maul and R2-D2 eggs are great, though Jabba’s face is pretty classic.

It must have been quite difficult to paint these eggs with so many details. If you like them, you can probably reproduce these at home, assuming you have a steady hand – and can wait until next Easter, that is.

Superhero Easter Eggs Ready to Deliver a Basket Full of Hurt

These Marvel and DC Comics decorated superhero eggs are pretty impressive. You get all of your favorites in egg form. There’s the Hulk, Spider-Man (no Doctor Egg-topus though), Batman, Green Lantern and more. I would have loved to get these in my Easter basket as a kid.

These nine superhero eggs were created by cartoonist Charles Apple. So if you noticed a cartoony flair to them, that’s why. They are completely awesome and they took him a long time to create. They were drawn by hand, then inked with sharpie and paint. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I guess Batman and The Flash would be up there for me.

Giant Peep Cake Has a Very Special Surprise Inside

Peeps are one of my guilty pleasures. There’s just something so delicious about sugar-coated marshmallow chicks and bunnies that I think they should make them year-round. So when I saw this Peep cake over on Instructables, I just about died (from both its awesomeness and a sugar coma.)

The Giant Peep Cake was created by Schoochmaroo, Instructables’ Food and Living channel editor. 200 times the size of a normal Peep chick, it’s made from cake, marshmallow and colored sugar itself. But the best part is what happens when you cut into it…

I bet you’re expecting some delicious marshmallow layer cake inside, right? Well get a load of this horror show!…

Cut it open, and it’s like the Peeps version of the Flood from Halo. Or maybe that’s really how Peeps are born – via C-section – and The New York Times are liars.

Which Came First: The Angry Bird or the Angry Easter Egg?

Dominika Turek decided that this Easter, it would be an Angry Easter thanks to some custom DIY-made Angry Birds Easter eggs! Easter is usually a time for faith and chocolate, but these guys make you want to get those piggies good. Dominika smartly also made some pigs to go with the birds she created.

She used Styrofoam eggs, paper, and glue to create her Angry Eggs. She used a decoupage technique that’s pretty easy to set up, if you want to replicate this. Once you’ve completed them, after you’ve shown them around a bit, it’s time to make the piggies pay!

Of course if you used real eggs instead of Styrofoam eggs, the birds would have cracked the first time they went flying through the air.

Eggbot Kit: for Geeky Easter Bunnies

Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories recently introduced their latest non-diabolical creation – the Eggbot. It’s an “open source art robot” that can draw on spherical or ellipsoidal surfaces.

The Eggbot can draw on objects with diameters ranging from 1.25 to 4.25 inches, so you can forget about drawing on your head. It has two stepping motors – one to rotate the object, and one to rotate the drawing instrument. A servo motor raises and lowers the writing instrument.

The chassis is made of fiberglass and is highly adjustable, so it can firmly grip the object that it’s drawing on. So what can you make with the Eggbot? Things like these!

Awesome, eh? Eggbot isn’t for total newbies though. It requires a couple of basic tools, a couple of hours to build, and you have to know – or learn – how to use Inkscape, an open source vector graphics editor, because that’s where you’ll make your drawings. You can pre-order the Eggbot kit at Evil Mad Science for $195 (USD).
