This new technological innovation from Japan is a single-purpose robot with a simple mission – make the best pasta and noodles without lifting single human finger (except to push the power button).

The Buckwheat Noodle Robot Sanuki Shokunin is designed to make the same type of buckwheat noodles that are typically the product of the precision knife skills of noodle chefs throughout Japan. The machine uses a special pasta dough kneader mechanism, along with a razor-sharp adjustable cutting blade to slice up precision pieces of pasta.

The Sanuki Shokunin can crank out up to 700 portions of noodles an hour, and can also make Chinese Noodles and traditional pasta too. Just load in some dough, push a couple of buttons to adjust the pasta size (in 0.1 mm increments) on the control screen, and watch the noodles fly.

Actually, this wasn’t the main wedding cake, but actually a groom’s cake that blogger The Domestic Scientist recently made for a friend’s wedding. And while the cake is fully edible (black icing, gumpaste ghosts and all) you might not want to try and eat the Pac-Couple – as they’re crafted from Super Sculpey. (Unless you’re into eating modeling clay.)

The first time I ever picked up a pair of chopsticks to eat a bowl of teriyaki, I was like a fish to water. Within minutes, I was chowing on Asian delicacies without ever looking back at my fork. But for those of you who lack the dexterity to pick up your noodles and rice with anything but silverware, have I got a gift for you.

The hiyokomame (named for Japanese chick peas) chopstick practice set gives you everything you need to get your ’stick-wielding talents in order without risk of spilling even a single grain of greasy fried rice on your just-pressed dress shirt.

Instead of trying to pick up bits of real grub, you’ll be delicately dipping into a bowl of little yellow plastic bean-shaped chicks. Each one stares blankly back at you as you pluck them from their bowl and they get ready to meet their maker in a sloshing pool of digestive acids.

While you’ll definitely be able to hone your chopstick skills with this wacky set, you should be reminded that the bite-size hiyokomame dudes are not edible, and gulping down a bowlful of toxic plastic and dyes with your new-found chopstick skills would probably send you to the emergency room to have your stomach pumped.

This oddity from Japan is available just in time for the holidays over at Gizmine for $39.99 (USD). I’ve only got one question… are chick peas really made from baby chickens?

Pixel baker extraordinaire Hello Naomi is at it again with her video game baked goods. This time, they’re adorned with the 8-bit aliens who ate so many of our quarters way back when. I suppose it’s our turn to get back at them by biting their heads off. Mmmm, alien frosting.

The cake was made by one Papersatan (a pretty fitting name for a perpetrator of Astley-based crimes, eh?) for her boyfriend’s birthday. She made a fake cake-like covering out of a hatbox, which when removed reveals a real cake with Rick Astley’s (sort of) likeness and those catchy lyrics etched in icing.

It’s bad enough to be Rickrolled on your Internets, but on your birthday? Now that’s just mean.

This has got to be one of the strangest iPod accessories I’ve ever seen. Just slip your iPod Nano into this camouflage jacket, and it’ll look just like a hunk of pricey (and delicious) Kobe beef.

Created by Japan’s Solid Alliance, the case comes packaged in a clever styrofoam butcher’s tray which helps complete the meaty illusion. Now why you’d ever want your iPod to look like a slab of meat is anyone’s guess. My first instinct would be to throw my Nano on the grill and cook it over a 550-degree flame. For some reason, I don’t think that would be a good idea.

If you’re just not getting enough red meat in your diet, head on over to GeekStuff4U and grab one. At the insane price of $97.86, maybe it’s actually made out of the extravagant luxury Japanese beef.

Hasbro’s Star Wars Candy Lightsabers are based on the authentic movie weapon designs for Darth Vader (red) and Anakin Skywalker (blue). They’re filled up with a gooey, glittery, edible, substance called “Spliquid”, which apparently comes in an assortment of fruity flavors.

So whenever you’re rarin’ to go into a sugar-induced coma, you can grab a dozen of these collectible suckers from Candy Warehouse for about $50.

If you’re like me, you probably killed more than a few weekends back in the Fall playing Portal. As you probably know by now, the cake promised as the reward for completing all the puzzles was a big fat lie. That didn’t stop this talented baker from whipping up an edible Weighted Companion Cube, effectively combining two of the game’s most popular concepts into one delicious treat.

Baked by Flickr contributor Mandrake88, this cake is most definitely does exist. And when she was done cooking up the companion cake, Mandrake had some extra dough lying around and baked up a batch of yummy companion cookies.

Be warned, when you click through to Mandrake’s Flickr gallery, there’s a ridiculous NSFW “erotic” cake pictured on the same page as the cube cake. That said, I’m sure you’ll all be hastily clicking on that link.

Now all I can think of is Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Richard Thomas’ clever creation is made from sliced kiwis, bananas, oranges, strawberries, green and red grapes and blueberries.
Ironically, not a single apple found its way into the picture.

Remember the Robosaurus? Let me refresh your memory. The gigantic robotic dinosaur looks like a metal, fire-breathing Tyrannosaurus Rex, and might be just about as fierce. Capable of picking up cars, then crushing them with its razor-sharp jaws, I certainly wouldn’t want to run into one in a back alley.

So it’s with much glee that I report that the Robosaurus is up for auction. That’s right, you can own the giant beast and put it on your front lawn to chomp on unpleasant neighbors (or at least melt their cars). That’s assuming you can get it past your nosy neighborhood association — though they’d be the first ones I’d feed to the giant metal automaton.

Created by inventor Doug Malewicki all the way back in 1989, the 40-foot tall robot can shoot 20-foot flames from its nostrils, and can crush metal with up to 20,000 pounds of force. If you’re interested in throwing your hat into the ring for this bad boy, you can find more details at Barrett Jackson Auctions.

This simple, yet ingenious invention places a tiny chemical thermometer on the outside of your chocolate bar, ensuring that you only eat it at the optimal temperature.

Japan’s DARS 22° C premium chocolate bars now include a color-coded temperature gauge which tells you when the bar is at exactly 22° C (about 71.6° F), apparently the “perfect” climate for chocolately goodness.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

To ensure the perfect candy eating experience, the company is even offering regular customers the opportunity to grab a special chocolate storage drawer (aka “the chocolate cellar”) that’s designed to help maintain the perfect temperature.

Personally, I’ve always liked my chocolate refrigerator cold, but according to the manufacturer, 22° C is the RIGHT temperature for getting your sugar fix. Anything else just won’t do.

Imagine having the boss over for dinner, asking if he’d like some pepper on his salad, then whipping out one of these little droids. You’ll surely get that promotion you’ve been clamoring for.

Just twist R2’s head, and out comes fresh-ground pepper. The mills come in both R2-D2 (white/blue) and RD-Q5 (black) versions, although I wish that the white one was salt, and the black one was pepper. All I need now is a C-3PO oil and vinegar dispenser and I’ll be good to go.

Star Wars fans can pre-order the R2 pepper mills now from NCSX for $19 each.

It’s hard to describe the Party Station. Think of the $25 accessory as a “plugged in” party tray. Sure, it’s got all the usual storage for your Wii-motes and Nunchuks, but that’s not where the “party” comes into play. The accessory offers such whimsical features as a hand-cooling fan to dry sweaty palms, LED readouts for tracking individual scores, four cupholders that can cool your drinks, and a place for your chips and dip.

Just add party hats and favors and you’re ready to go!

In case you were worried about misplacing your memory stick, or embarrassed by its unsightly looks, you can now hide your USB memory stick in the bowels of this keychain doll from Elecom. The doll “eats” the memory stick, then it’s stored away in its gut for later use. And in case that wasn’t weird enough, you’ll need to stick you finger down the dolls throat to retrieve your memory stick.
