I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this. Jin made the Dr. McNinja figure using a Firefly head and an SDCC Destro body. The coat was taken from an ROC The Doctor figure,  while the sword and sheath are from a Paris Snake Eyes figure. The stethoscope was made with using headphone wire. Awesome awesome figure. Now I know that there’s an official RE 5 Chris Redfield action figure, but I want to show Jin’s mixing and matching (and painting) skills, so here’s Jin’s take on the zombie-slaying cop:

Chris Redfield is made of  a custom Chris head from Broken Arrows Toys, a Firefly/beach head body, Storm Shadow upper arms joined to Tiger Force Flint lower arms,  Resolute Duke hands and legs, and some custom weapons from Marauder Gun-Runners. Finally we have Jin’s Air Man. Even though Dr. McNinja is still my favorite Jin Saotome creation, special mention goes to Air Man, probably the most complex of Saotome’s action figures. Air Man’s chest fan actually works and is battery powered. And even if it didn’t, man, look at the details!

Air Man is made of the following: an Animated Wolverine Colossus sans head with sculpted eyes for the upper body, Astro Boy Peace Keeper arms and lower legs, and Accelerator Suit Snails upper legs and waist. Jin made Air Man’s fan using styrene sheeting and a Nokia cellphone vibration motor.  The magnetic Wind Gust was taken from a DCU Red Tornado action figure. Unfortunately some lucky bastard already owns Air Man, and Jin says he had an insanely difficult time with the figure so he won’t be making another Air Man anytime soon.

The mammoth LEGO Mario was created by Dirk VH, and is made up of over 40,000 individually placed bricks. All in all, Mario measures over 5-foot, 9-inches tall, and weighing in at over 110 pounds. That’s bigger than some people I know. And I know some small people! Check out the gallery below to see LEGO Mario as he came into being…

The guys over at Netherlands’ Game Mania commissioned Dirk to create this giant Mario for a good cause – The Ronald McDonald House. And all the bricks are glued together so you can actually count on Mario arriving in one piece. Ah, kids; sometimes you just wanna hug ‘em, just give ‘em a good old one-handed hug, and then punch their little heads in with your free hand. I’m kidding, and so was the granddaughter, 10-year old Zoe Pemberton. Apparently. Allegedly. Or so she says. Now that she’s been caught. Nah, you can see a cute picture of the two in the Daily Mail.  According to the Daily Mail article, Zoe “was apparently feeling a bit annoyed at being constantly asked ‘to do things like make her [Mrs. Goodall] a drink’ and decided to do something to cheer both of them up.” Zoe’s father Thomas heard his daughter asking the 61-year old grandma “lots of questions about her favourite drinks, food and height,” and shortly afterwards Zoe proudly announced to her dad,  “I’ve put Nan on eBay.”

Zoe’s story might be a tad different, especially the bit about wanting to cheer her granma up, but let’s not pick on the kid. Although she described Mrs. Goodall as “annoying and moaning a lot”, she did say that her grandmother was “very cuddly.” Awww. The amazing thing is that eBay’s moderators (administrators ?) weren’t able to take the bid down immediately, so Grandma Goodall really was for sale for quite some time. Within a day of posting people were already bidding £1,000 (approx. $1,600 USD). The last time Thomas Pemberton checked, the bid was at £20,541 ($32, 700). But the bid has been taken down, so to those of you who are planning on pulling a similar stunt, I repeat: humans cannot be sold on eBay. And have some originality. Sell your little sister on Etsy or something: “Man-made monster, likes Pop Tarts: $45″

The toy isn’t too expensive at $45 (USD), but it’s..well it looks like a toy, not a badass truck robot with ninja moves and a deep deep voice. Fortunately, you don’t have to settle for the vanilla Prime. Professional customizer Crefigz (short for creative figz) modified the hell out of the Hasbro version to make it look more like the movie version of Optimus Prime and posted it at Figure.fm. Unfortunately I had to convert the pics to a lower resolution to fit here, but even still you’d have to be blind to not be able to see the detail and the bling on Crefigz’ work. To emphasize how much work he did – and the quality of his customization – let’s look at the vanilla Prime:

No match. Crefigz’ Prime can beat vanilla Prime just by showing up on the battlefield. As you can see the toy was completely repainted and chromed-out, so that the finished product actually looks like a miniature Optimus Prime, made of metal and red flames and awesome. Let’s compare the vehicle modes:

Again, it’s not so bad. It’s a toy truck. Here’s Crefigz Prime in vehicle mode:

Are your minds re-blown? I still can’t believe the transformation. Heheh. Transformation. Good one.

Aside from the chrome and the awesome paint job – by the way the flames are not decals, they’re painted on as well – Crefigz also did the following: “Added ball joint in neck in order to get more articulation,  modded hand from TFTM 07 Leader Class Optimus Prime, modded blaster from TFTM 07 Leader Class Optimus Prime and added custom side mirror to get a more accurate detail level.”

Here are a couple of close-ups on Crefigz Prime’s weapons and chest, just to show you the amount of work that went in to this mod.

I really love how the toy looks like it’s made of metal. Crefigz is selling this mod on eBay; bid starts at $710. Yeah it’s a ridiculous price for a toy, but it’s a ridiculously well-done mod as well. In fact, there are already 16 bidders for Crefigz Prime as of this writing. Ebay seller homisydal parted ways with his beloved 1989 Legend of Zelda collector’s item plate. It was in the mintest of conditions, as evidenced by its spotless bottom:

Yeah, that’s a $15,000 plate bottom all right. No doubt it was hard for homisydal to let go of his treasure, but I’m sure there was an extremely good reason behind it. Perhaps homisydal was having trouble putting food on the table. I’m sorry. I just had to. Seriously though $15,000? Maybe I should start hoarding random stuff. This hacked-together Atari 2600 Portable goes by the name “Stella-Tubby” – which does a good job summing up its less than svelte form-factor as a handheld gaming console. Retro-modder Nonogadi built out this portable 2600 with an integrated 5″ LCD screen, as well as built-in joystick and paddle controllers. Plus, it’ll run on a pair of 9-volt batteries if you don’t feel like lugging around an A/C power brick.

The Stella-Tubby has found its way all the way from Singapore over to eBay auction block, but is priced at the somewhat astronomical starting bid of $400 bucks – a bit irrational for what amounts to a 30 year old gaming system with a $25 LCD screen embedded into it. Still, you’ve got to give it up to Nongadi for the time and effort it probably took to build this oddity.

There is nothing about this picture that doesn’t disturb me on some level. Look at the wooden fence in the background! You don’t see fences like that in places of happiness and fun. Someone always ends up impaled when there’s a fence like that around, and if the fence doesn’t do it, Pyramid Head will.

Sorry, distracted by memories of Silent Hill 2. Anyway, these Silent Hill ponies are available on eBay. $30 apiece (or more, by the time of auction’s end) seems like a lot, but the detail work is pretty good, and these are a lot more elaborate than many custom ponies I’ve seen. And a lot creepier.

Canada-based Ateliers-Nemesis are selling this massive 51″ Frostmourne replica on eBay with a starting bid of $510 (USD). As I said, the sword’s blade is made of foam that’s been covered in latex. The guard and pommel are made of cast rubber, while the grip is made of hard wood covered in leather. The sword has also been hand-painted with phosphorescent paint that allows it to glow “for more than 9  hours.” There are already 23 bidders for the sword as I’m writing this, and the auction ends today. But even if you don’t score Frostmourne, Ateliers-Nemesis still have a toy armory full of badass toy weapons, so check out their website if you’re interested.

I think my base damage is -981231, so not even a hundred Frostmournes can make me a worthy warrior.

Vizio has already confirmed the support of several content and service providers aside from Facebook and Twitter, such as eBay, Flickr, Netflix and Vudu. Currently, the only XVT series on sale is the 55″ VF550XVT LCD HDTV. You can order one at Amazon for $1899 (USD), or at Vizio’s online store for $2000.

The 42″ SV421XVT and 47″ SV471XVT HDTVs will be available in July for $1,200 and $1,500 respectively. If you were hoping for relatively cheaper XVTs, you’re in luck: The 32″ SV320XVT will be available in September, featuring a thin profile and full 1080p goodness for “only” $750. The 37″ SV370XVT ($850) will also be on sale in September, along with the LED-backlit 55″ VF551XVT ($2,200). There is a very small scratch on the side of the console, but it’s so small that lim-handek had to point it out with a red circle on the pic. lim-handek’s feedback is 100%, and to show you just how awfully nice he can be, he’s bundled a couple of games with the console: Saints Row 2 and this game called Great… Thick… Alto 4? Grand Theft AIG 4? I don’t know.

According to mrdecal37, the guy who makes these, the 8-bit Nintendo Controller License Plate is what he calls “The most important license plate ever made”, putting it somewhere on the continuum between solving today’s Junior Jumble and curing cancer.

Sure, they don’t look exactly the same as the original Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde and Pac-Man, but they’re close enough to pass for their video game doppelgangers from a distance. Besides, it’s probably pretty tough to bend neon to look like the jagged pixel edges of the original characters.

I spotted these 9-inch tall neon lights over on eBay. As of now, the full set is still available for sale, but seller JNN2728 is also selling individual Pac-Man and Ghost neon lights with bids starting as low as 1 red cent (of course, they’ll sell for a lot more than that by the time the auction closes).

The 6′-6″ tall faux fur gorillas are designed to draw attention to your business, but I think I’d like to get about 100 of them together, start my own gorilla robot army and take over the world. The guys over at GameSniped stumbled onto this custom-modded miniature version of the classic console for sale over on eBay. The mini ColecoVision does everything the original console did, only smaller.

According to seller doubledownon11, the modded console is a whopping 50 square inches smaller and 1 pound lighter than a stock ColecoVision system. In addition, the system has been upgraded with composite, S-Video and RCA audio jacks. There’s also a handy “intro skip” button, which lets you zip past the annoying 10-12 second loading screen on Coleco-branded games. The unique console is in pristine condition and includes a refurbished ColecoVision hand controller, a Donkey Kong game cartridge, a power supply, and a six foot, gold-plated, A/V cable.

With a current bid of $379.99, it’s about twice what an original ColecoVision would have cost you back in 1982, but adjusted for inflation it’s actually a better deal.

By the time I managed to stumble my way over from the buffet line, the eBay slots were so busy that I didn’t even manage to donate my money to them.

From what I could tell, they’re those typical nickel slots with tons of perplexing jagged lines which must match up in order to pay the big bucks. Of course, unlike the real eBay, there’s no guarantee that the highest bidder will win anything.

The machines have icons for popular auction categories such as electronics, motors, collectibles and fashion, but they only take (and occasionally dole out) cold hard cash. And while there won’t be any money showing up in your PayPal account, all of the players on the system can win a free spin at the same time, so I guess that’s better than nothing.
