You know the old saying, “Sharing is caring”? Apparently, Sony doesn’t see it that way. Even though many of you like sharing your PlayStation games with friends. Sadly, those in the UK will now be limited to sharing games and content with no more than two PS3 consoles and two handheld consoles.

The change only applies to games and content bought on the PlayStation Store after November 18th and right now only affects gamers based in the UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and the Middle East. It’s a good bet that these limits will show up elsewhere very soon too.

Under these limits, a single PSN account will be able to support two consoles and two handhelds. Prior to this change, up to five different PlayStation consoles could be connected to a PSN account and used to play the same games.

Co-funded by the European Commission, the $3.9 million (USD) Dustbot project aims to build a moderately-sized robot to navigate the narrow streets that garbage trucks can’t reach. Hey that rhymed! Nice. Anyway the pictures below were taken from Dustbot’s trial run in Peccioli, Italy.

Aside from collecting garbage, the Dustbot can also analyze the quality of the surrounding air. Its sensors can measure the amount of pollutants like sulfur oxide, benzene, ozone, and nitrogen oxide.

The touch screen monitor seems to be a way for users to tell Dustbot the type of garbage that they’re going to give to him – Vetro is Italian for glass, Carta means paper, etc. – so presumably it will have a way of marking or tagging the garbage bags that it collects. Inhabitat also adds that the Dustbot can be “summoned” via text messaging, and that it will be able to “remember” residents using some form of ID.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Right now Dustbot isn’t nimble enough to navigate crowded streets, but that’s not my primary concern. I kinda wish that Dustbot would have a Taser, or at least a bottle of pepper spray, because sooner or later a bunch of bored kids or perhaps even thieves will mess with the poor ‘bot. You can visit dustbot.org for more videos, pics and details.

Elgato’s EyeTV Sat captures DVB-S and DVB-S2 satellite transmissions and enables playback on a computer, allowing you to record, export and even share recorded broadcasts over a network of computers. As long as you have a satellite dish. Aside from receiving free satellite transmissions, the EyeTV Sat also has a CI card slot for Pay TV subscribers and can also be used with Pay TV smartcards that support third-party CI receivers. If none of this makes sense to you, well we’re on the same boat; I think the EyeTV Sat is primarily for European customers.

The EyeTV Sat records in lossless MPEG-2/H.264, regardless if the original broadcast was in HD or in standard definition. Recorded broadcasts can be exported to iTunes and then loaded into iPods.

The EyeTV has both Mac and Windows versions and is available at Elgato’s website for £180 ($300 USD). Weirdly enough, the price of the EyeTV Sat in euros is €200, which is a bit cheaper when converted to dollars – $282. Either that or Google is wrong.

At this week’s Leipzig Gaming Conference, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) revealed an add-on for the PlayStation 3 gaming console which will give it full television and digital video recording capabilities.

The device and software bundle, called PlayTV will provide high-definition reception of television signals and scheduled recording of shows. At this point, the PlayTV has only been announced for European markets, as its tuner relies on the over-the-air DVB-T digital standard. The PlayTV will include dual tuners, and will record programs in full 1080p resolution (although DVB-T source signals likely to be at lower resolutions.)

You’ll be able to control the program guide using either the PS3 SIXAXIS or Blu-ray remote control. PlayTV will also include the ability to watch recorded programs on your PSP via a Wi-fi connection, or download via a USB connection for later playback. The system is expected to hit shelves in much of Europe in early 2008, but there are no current plans to release the system in other parts of the world.

This new home theater system from Sony offers an immersive 3-dimensional surround sound effect using just two satellite speakers and a subwoofer. The system has a striking industrial design that’s very sleek and modern. It even has a cool touch-sensitive control panel hidden in its glass top.

Sony’s DAX-X10 is a complete home theater system that looks perfect for living rooms and other places where you don’t want a lot of equipment and wiring cluttering up the place. It features a solid 480W of amplification power, with much of that (160W) going to the system’s powered subwoofer.

For your viewing and listening pleasure, it offers a front-loading DVD player which can handle DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, ACD, Video CD, DivX and MP3 format discs. Audio decoding from Dolby Digital, Pro-Logic II and DTS are all there. And thanks to its Digital Media Port, it can even be expanded with options such as media player docks and Wi-Fi streaming bridges. It’ll even play music wirelessly from many Bluetooth devices out of the box.

The system also acts as an HDMI switcher, and includes upscaling to 720p or 1080i from analog video sources. It even has an automated setup system that takes care of calibrating the system for optimal acoustic performance in about 30 seconds.

Initially planned for release this September in Europe, the DAX-X10 is likely to hit other markets in the near future. Pricing wasn’t officially announced, but it looks like Amazon (affiliate link) already has them available for pre-order for $899.99.
