I’m definitely a big fan of pixel art. Whether they’re found in paintings, furniture, housewares, or costumes, pixels are still pretty cool in my book. So when I saw that this fashion house is featuring an entire collection of stuff inspired by pixels, my inner geek got all hot and bothered.

For his Anrealage fashion line, Japanese designer Kunihiko Morinaga took inspiration from the squared-off pixel block to create his F/W 2011 collection, which includes shoes with pixel heels, pixelated prints on on jackets, sweaters and slacks.

But my favorite part of the collection isn’t the clothing. It’s the pixel furniture, which includes a pair of awesome blocky armchairs, a matching café table, a pixel-patterned Oriental rug, and some awesome pixel light bulb fixtures.

I would live in a house filled with this stuff if I could. But I can’t. So for now, the only way to experience this is to head to the Anrealage showroom in Harajuku, Tokyo.

When it comes to fashion, geekiness is not wanting. And when it comes to earrings, why, it’s practically overflowing. Cases in point? The Portal Earrings which make for a good illusion, the White Circuit Earrings that are as geeky as earrings can get, and the Tiny Knife Earrings that can literally cut through you.

But for accessories totally geared to gamers, there’s the Super Mario Bros. Piranha Earrings for you.

Even those who don’t really play Super Mario Bros. will be able to recognize this distinct potted and dotted plant, who’s actually a pretty bad guy in the game.

Who knew such a ferociously named villain (the “Piranha Plant”) could make such an adorable-looking earring? Just look at it taking a bite out of her ear lobe.

Unfortunately, the earrings are sold out for now and will be made available again around September 1. They’re available from Lizglizz’s Shop on Etsy, so you might want to bookmark the page for easy reference later on.

Last week, we saw how girls can show off their gamer sides by putting on some gamer necklaces by Deadly Pretty Design. As a girl who’s really into video games herself, I can say that I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on one of those necklaces. I like the Xbox 360 one best.

If you’re anything like me, then you’ll also want to complement those gorgeous gamer necklaces with aptly themed earrings, like these white vintage circuit earrings that are made from an old circuit board.

I like how a lot of designers are coming up with pieces that showcase geekery at their finest and most fashionable best. You might get a <del>couple of</del> lot of stares from other people who see you with these earrings on. But in my opinion, they’re a really fun and fashionable way of displaying geeky side with a chic vibe.

I’m heading off to order a pair of these myself on Sparkover’s Shop on Etsy now. They’re available for $20 a pair, by the way.

A company called Fits.Me has invented robotic mannequins that can emulate thousands of different body types. The – wait, eager commenter. Before you launch into an immaculately-spelled, benevolent and profanity-free tirade deriding the laziness of man, let me assure you: Fits.Me knows that it’s easier to put the clothes on yourself to find out if they’re your size and style. They also know that you can’t do that when you’re shopping online.

According to Fits.me, 25% of online purchases are returned, mostly because customers discover – or decide – that the clothes they ordered don’t fit right. But with the FitBots, along with a virtual fitting room, customers will be able to see right away what the clothes will look like on them. The only downside to this? You have to know your exact measurements, because that’s what the software will use to adjust the bot’s body. Wrong measurements, wrong fit.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

You can test the virtual fitting room over at Fits.me’s website. Again, you’ll have to enter a few measurements to adjust the FitBot. Maybe the best solution lies with a Kinect-like device, but I imagine it would be quite a while before PCs with built-in full body scanners become standard.

While I don’t really need a jewelry box, I have to say that this one does look pretty awesome. It’s perfect for the retro gamer geek or geekette to store jewelry and other stuff that needs to be hidden away.

Instructables contributor Anna Howard Shaw created this one for herself, but the Instructable gives a step-by-step process on how you can make one too. You’re basically going to be working with pieces of wood and shaping them into the right form to get your box. The whole box is made out of wood, including walnut and cherry veneer for some of the decorations. Lastly, the box is finished with a stain or shellac to give it that rich color.

Admittedly, you could use this box to store any number of little knick-knacks if you don’t wear jewelry. Or, you could pick up some appropriate jewelry here, like some Pitfall Harry earrings.

Sometimes convergence isn’t a good idea.

You know those little cardboard things that go around your cup of coffee at Starbucks? They’re actually pretty ingenious if you think about it. I mean, not only do they function as a buffer between the hot cup and your hand, but they can be used as a form of advertisement. So the company has found a way to bring advertising to their customers, while providing something useful. That’s just plain smart. So why do I hate these RuMe CUFF wallets so much?

After all, they too serve dual purposes. They keep your hand from getting burned, and hold your money. Just because you can make something that does two things, doesn’t mean you should. First, do you really carry a cup of coffee with you so often that it could actually replace your wallet? Second, do you have so few things in your wallet that it’s going to fit nicely around a cup of Joe? Third, and I can’t stress this one enough, you will throw this away at some point. No matter how hard you try, eventually you’ll chuck your cup into the trash instinctively, while donating your funds to the city dump.

There are probably a dozen other reason why this thing is a bad buy. Sure, it’s only $10. But then again, you already have a wallet, and you get one of those cardboard things for free with your coffee. The product page does mention that you can also use it as an armband as well. I still stand by my previous thoughts. Why waste time and money on this thing?

Don’t you hate those times when you’re having a pleasant conversation with someone, only to have it interrupted by their phone?

There’s a good chance that the other person would be just as annoyed if it were your phone going off. Naturally, if you find the other person’s company important enough, you’ll actually turn your phone off, or at least put it on silent. Want to make sure that they know the lengths you’ve gone to ensure that you don’t interrupt the conversation with a noisy phone? Get a Phonekerchief.

What exactly is a Phonekerchief you ask? It’s a handkerchief that blocks cell phone signals. You just wrap your phone in one, and the signal is blocked. The best part? It’s embroidered to say “My phone is off for you.” Honestly, if I saw someone wearing one of these, I’d probably steer clear of them. Why? Because there’s just something about a person who feels the need to wear a sign that essentially says “I’m being polite,” instead of just turning their phone off, that bothers me. If you simply must have it, then be prepared to part with $15 for one when they go on sale November 25.

The Boy Scouts had it right with their motto about always being prepared. However, you don’t always want people to know that you’re prepared for certain situations.

Unless you’re someone that drinks a lot and doesn’t care who knows it, you might not want to carry a bottle opener on your keychain. After all, nothing says “I love booze” like a bottle opener keychain with some witty saying about only drinking in days that end in “y”. So how do you stay prepared for a drinking situation while still staying classy? Apparently with a $150 Bottoms Up watch.Happy Hour Timepieces has announced a new watch that not only looks stylish, but has a bottle opener buckle built into the strap. It’s so subtle that almost no one would ever know that it wasn’t your average ordinary (non-bottle-opening) watch. It sports other features like a brushed stainless steel design, a calf leather strap and being water resistant to 5 ATM.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

You can pre-order the watch now for $100, or wait until after it goes on sale later in the month and pay an extra $50. The only thing you have to ask yourself now is which is worse, carrying a $5 bottle opener on a keychain, or a $150 bottle opener that tells time to mask its real use.

Disney is getting all the mileage it can out of the TRON flick set to open next month. We have seen all sorts of clothing, glasses, and other gear unveiled that ties in with the flick including some clothing perfect for geeky strippers. All that gear is coming to its own TRON Pop-Up Shop heading to California.

The Pop-Up Shop will be in Cali for six weeks and will offer all the cool gear we have seen branded with the TRON style and logo along with a café and art exhibition. The store will be in Culver City, CA November 19 to December 23, and will operate from 10-6 daily with hours until 10 p.m. on Wednesdays.

According to Disney, new TRON gear will be unveiled during the six weeks the store is open. The design of the store is inspired by the safe house that will be in the movie with curves and lights, and loads of epic thrown in for good measure.

Attention all hipsters and retro gamers, check out these crazy new specs from Samal Design. Yes, they are actually designed so that they look like they were rendered in super-low 5 dpi and in 6 dpi resolutions. Now that’s pretty cool.

You might be thinking that these glasses were just a concept, and they didn’t really make any, but you’d be completely wrong. The 5 dpi and 6 dpi models are actually available for pre-order right now and will set you back €185 ($256 USD). The glasses were designed in France and handmade in the USA.

I haven’t worn a tie regularly in years. There’s something extremely uncomfortable when something is squeezing your neck like that. Also, they are a nightmare to wear when it gets hot. However, I do wear one from time to time when I need to. Thankfully, I’ll be able to keep cool with this incredibly tacky new necktie fan.

The USB Necktie Cooler 3 is now available to keep you cool in meetings, especially since this is one of the hottest summers on record. The necktie cooler comes with a smaller portable charger. This hot new addition to your wardrobe won’t really look good with anything, but at least you’ll be cooling down – at least slightly.

I will admit to an irrational fear of writing BSOD, saying BSOD, or thinking BSOD. I think Windows sits waiting like HAL for us to utter the word and then offers up the dreaded blue screen out of spite. How many times have we all been cut off in the middle of typing a word only to be greeted with the BSOD? So far, so good, my computer is still worki

Ok, I’m back. If you don’t share my irrational fear of the dreaded blue screen of death, you might find this belt interesting. The buckle has the BSOD error printed on it and the belt is some sort of woven material. You can also get the belt with Pong on the buckle.

It’s hard to believe that Pong was so popular once. If either of the belts tickles your fancy, you can order them up for $15 (USD) each. The buckle apparently uses a friction type buckle. Just beware; I heard one kid was cut in half while wearing this sort of belt when he kept pulling the belt trying to get it to release only to make it tighter each time.

This LED light dress was designed by fashion design student Kristi Kuusk. She studies at the University of São Paulo in Brazil and came up with this wonderful idea for one of her classes.

The dress is supposed to light up like when the snow sparkles at night. The LEDs underneath the skirt will only light up if the skirt and a ring come in contact which each other thanks to a magnetic switch. I suppose the lights would help her be seen at night, but they strike me as more of an artistic statement than anything else.

These are the clothes of the future: smart-clothes. I can’t wait for these to be actually produced. Detectair is a fashion project by Genevieve Mateyko and Pamela Troyer. Their unusual clothes detect the pollution level in the air.

I find this pretty darn cool, especially if you live in a big, smoggy city. The quality of the air is transmitted to the wearer thanks to an ingenious LED lighting system, sewn into the fabric of the garment.

If the pollution level is too high, the collar can be pulled up over your face to protect against them, kind of like a gas mask.

Of course, if the pollution level is too high, you’ll probably need to get yourself a biohazard suit and a respirator to cover this outfit with.

This incredibly designed dress will react to the air quality and pollution levels by pulsating hundreds of LED lights.

This dress was created by Diffus. It’s kind of amazing that it includes all of those LED lights. If the level of pollution increases around it, the lights start pulsating faster and faster, making a nifty air quality sensor.

The LEDs are wired to a small microprocessor chip that includes a carbon dioxide detector. I’m not sure that this dress will ever be mass-produced, but it’s a really cool idea. It gives the wearer an easy way of gauging the air quality.

With LEDs and OLEDs becoming smaller and smaller, as well as more and more efficient, I wonder if we’ll see more of these lights integrated into clothing. Something like this certainly would impact our environmental awareness.

One of the coolest villains in cartoon history has definitely got to be The Shredder. Before he was ridiculed in the movies, he was one mean dude in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons. Now, you can bring out your own super-villain with this snazzy hoodie.

It looks pretty cozy and there are even these crazy blades on the side of it as decoration, which makes me even want it more. This TMNT Shredder hoodie is being produced by 80stees and will cost you only $60 (USD).

This Shredder hoodie is based upon the armor of the Shredder, or Oroku Saki. It comes with a neat half-mask, as well as a false cape and spikes protruding from the shoulders and forearms. I really like how the zipper zips up all the way straight over your face to make the mask.

Created by Dutch designer Stijn Ossevoort, Flare is a dress embroidered with wind-sensitive lights, arranged to form dandelions. Just imagine – it’s your wedding day, and it’s at the beach, just like you’ve always imagined it. You’re walking along the shore, the wind caressing your dress, not only making it ripple but also causing lights to twinkle. And as the chilly waves reach out and gently surprise your feet, you feel…a tingle. Then a buzz. Then a full on electrocution. Way to go out in style.

Just kidding. And even if the electronics on Flare are affected by water, I think the worst that could happen would be the lights shorting out. I hope.

I like how the electronics enhance but don’t overwhelm the dress. Ossevoort’s work shows that geeky fashion goes way beyond Star Wars t-shirts and video game-themed sneakers. Not that there’s anything bad about those.

You’ve been stealing glances at each other the whole night. All you see is that hot little number with the shiny red dress, everything else is black and white. She finishes her drink, and sashays off to the terrace, the light bouncing off her hips as they sway. You adjust your tie and follow her. You reach her side just as she’s putting a cigarette in her mouth. You twirl your right hand and snap with the left. A modest but firm flame appears on your wrist. Your eyes meet and reflect the flame as she lights up. She inhales for half a second, blows smoke for 3 more, puts her lips next to your ear and whispers, “Douche.”

I mean come on! Who else aside from MacGyver can pull off a get-up involving mini lighter cufflinks? Even James Bond in the 70s would’ve had laser beam cufflinks. Richard Dean Anderson, the cufflinks are sold by YougNeek at Etsy for $40 (USD). They’re currently sold out, so you might want to use your charms to wrangle a pair off of YougNeek. Or better yet, take a good look at the cufflinks and then go make your own.
