Life can get pretty overwhelming sometimes. If you’ve pulled all-nighters before or have tried working overtime for several nights in a row, then you know there’s nothing quite like that feeling you get when you finally get to dive under your sheets and sleep.

And sailing in to make it more tempting for you to turn in earlier for your health and for your well-being are these Waffle and Syrup Sheets (with optional fruit pillows!) So the syrup sheets are basically just dark brown top sheets, but still.

Everything comes together nicely, don’t you think? And the best part is that you can now have breakfast in bed on a bed of breakfast.

The sheet set is priced at $100(USD) and the fruit go for $20 to $40 each. They’re available from B Fiber and Craft’s shop on Etsy, where you can also find a pizza slice sleeping bag and a baked potato bean bag if you’re still hungry.

Do those tiny stickers stuck prominently on your fruit annoy you? Well, they sure annoy me. Sometimes they’re hard to remove, even under running water, so the fruit ends up with little scratch or fingernail marks (which are obviously bad to look at) thanks to yours truly trying to pry them off.

A pretty neat solution? Fruitwash labels.

They’re fruit stickers that turn to fruit soap when rubbed under running water. Aside from eliminating the need to go out and buy some fruit and produce soap, you can just go rub-a-dub and wash off water-resistant wax, fungicides, and pesticides off of your fruit.

Scott Amron came up with the concept for these Fruitwash labels just recently, and I’m surprised why someone hasn’t already done so earlier. Scott is currently selling off a 10% stake in the Fruitwash label intellectual property (in other words, patents) for anyone who wants to participate in this unique invention.

Leave it to the Japanese to create yet another specialized robot to do a job that previously only a human could do.

Developed by Japan’s National Agricultural and Food Research Organization [JP] this award winning robot [JP] can delicately pluck individual strawberries from the vine. Not only is it gentle enough to snip the stalks of the berries and drop them into a padded crate, but it’s smart enough to detect the color of the perfectly ripe berry and only pluck those. By using a pair of cameras, it’s able to detect the precise position of each berry in three dimensions, then uses special software to only select berries that are at least 80% red.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

As you can see from the video clip, the robot currently can only handle strawberries, but could be modified to harvest other sorts of fruits or veggies if so desired. The robot is currently being field-tested by farmers to see if it could be more efficient than human berry picking. Early signs are that at a rate of one berry every 9 seconds, the robots could help reduce harvesting times by about 40%.

Looks like the berry pickers’ union is going to have a beef sometime soon.

Apparently, the Japanese enjoy vending machines so much that they keep coming up with new things to sell in them. Take for instance, Dole, who has just announced that they will be selling bananas through vending machines in Japan. It’s interesting, but I’d just pop by to see a human fruit vendor instead, not a robotic one.

The specialized banana machine maintains bananas at their ideal temperature of 55.4 degrees Farenheit, and sells bananas for ¥130 (appx. $1.50 USD) a piece or ¥390 (appx. $4.50) for a bunch.

There are many people who rely on vending machines for sustenance during the day, especially office workers and students. You don’t always have a choice. I know the feeling. A few snacks could allow you to continue working, and I suppose bananas are healthier than Snickers or Twinkies.

Still, the banana machine doesn’t make much sense to me. Bananas can go bad pretty quickly. It makes more sense to go find a fruit vendor and get your bananas there. In Asia, there are fruit vendors all over the place. In Taiwan, you can find them almost everywhere, if you know where to look.

Apparently, the folks in Japan have some different ways of chilling out in the tub than what I’m familiar with. Banpresto Fruit Palette are light-up fake fruit that you float around your bathtub while you soak to help you let your mind drift. Ahhhhh… There’s nothing like some oversize plastic citrus to help you relax.

But unlike conventional (or organic) fruit, these oversize citrus have an array of colorful LEDs that light up the segments of fruit, and project patterns onto the walls and ceiling of your bathroom.

Fruit Palette fruits are available in Lemon Yellow, Pink Grapefruit and Lime Green Lime varieties, but I bet if you try and take a bite out of any of these, they’d all taste the same – like plastic.

So if you’re feeling particularly fruity today, the guys over at HimeyaShop have been kind enough to offer these outside of Japan for $32 (USD) a piece.

You are fast; you are speed itself. But you’re pretty sure you’re still late. You keep on driving fast. Suddenly you realize that you don’t know where you are anymore, you were going too fast, time was your enemy, and now so is space. You’re torn between stopping to ask for directions or to just keep on going fast, you want to know how late you are so you can decide, but you left your watch at home! You look around the alien landscape and all you see are fruit vendors! What now?!? Breathing deeply, you ask yourself, WWMGD? What Would MacGyver Do?

Fortunately, you bought a Fruit Powered Clock for $18 US from Urban Outfitters a couple of months ago. You scream to the vendors “TOSS ME A FRUIT! ANY FRUIT WILL DO! THERE’S NO TIME TO EXPLAIN!”

The MacGyver theme starts playing, people are inspired and start tossing all kinds of fruits while egging you on – “You can do it!” “I hate guns too!” “Swiss Army Knife!” “Duct Tape!” – but they’re tossing too many fruits at you that you can’t see the road anymore so you accidentally run over a vendor. Also, you remember that the meeting’s at your house. Next week.

And while Apple hasn’t used the classic rainbow logo since 1998, I have a funny feeling that neither Steve Jobs nor the T-Qualizer guys had anything to do with this shirt. That said, you’d better get your hands on one before somebody’s lawyers see this post.

If you move quick, you can grab one over at JetsSoBox or over on eBay for somewhere between $20 and $45 USD.

From the land of the rising square watermelons comes another batch of freaky fruit. A Fuji apple orchard owner loved the big A so much that he decided to brand real apples with little iPod figures and Apple logos. Instead of, I don’t know, buying Apple products. To each his own.

How did he do it? Lasers. Okay no, but that works for pies. Apple fan-san simply placed iPod- and Apple logo-shaped stickers on the apples as the fruits were growing, and when they ripened, voila. He got sued. Don’t believe a word I say.

Seriously though, can he get sued for this?

Somebody make us some Windows Windows. No wait. Somebody make us a Linux Penguin. They need the publicity. Plus they definitely won’t sue.

There’s nothing that conjures up thoughts of a warm Summer day than some sticky sweet watermelon juice running down your hands. But for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer is long, long gone.

What better place to keep your happy Summer vacation memories than on this delicious looking watermelon USB flash drive? While it looks good enough to eat, biting into bright red flesh of this slice of fruit will result in nothing more than a couple of chipped teeth and a trip to the dentist.

On the plus side, you don’t have to spit out any seeds along with those teeth. The fruity drives store 8GB of your files and can be found over at Chinavasion for about $21 USD.

Getting plenty of fruit each day is an important part of a well-balanced diet. So why shouldn’t your iPod take part in the same healthy lifestyle as you? Thanks to these fruit speakers, your media player can at least look like it’s eating well.

Available in green apple, yellow banana, orange orange, and red strawberry flavors, these plush fruit speakers don’t just play your tunes, they give you a nice place to take a nap while you listen. Not only do they look delicious, they actually smell like their fruity doppelgangers. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know how well I’d sleep while inhaling artificial bananas.

I’ve had a bit of hard time finding these for sale, but you might have some luck poking around over on eBay. There’s also an importer called Made in China who sells them, but only in wholesale quantities — so unless you plan on stocking an entire fruit stand, that could be overkill.

Check out this tasty realization of the classic Apple rainbow logo, made entirely out of fresh fruit.

Richard Thomas’ clever creation is made from sliced kiwis, bananas, oranges, strawberries, green and red grapes and blueberries.
Ironically, not a single apple found its way into the picture.
