Anyway, Nintendo has responded to PETA’s attack, schooling them on common sense and laying down the smack like a plumber’s foot on a Goomba.

Mario often takes the appearance of certain animals and objects in his games. These have included a frog, a penguin, a balloon and even a metallic version of himself. These lighthearted and whimsical transformations give Mario different abilities and make his games fun to play. The different forms Mario takes make no statement beyond the games themselves.

Seriously PETA, stick to helping real animals and we will all love you for it. It’s this kind of nonsense that makes you look like idiots and hurts your cause.

These Furry Objects were created by Danish textile designer Magnhild Disington. She steps into dangerous territory because of ethical concerns about items made from fur.

Anything made out of fur is controversial, but Disington manages to turn electronic objects into a fashion accessory. Let me just mention that these covers are made out of the leftover fur materials that would usually be discarded as waste (if that makes you feel any better).

Also, these could give electronic gadgets get a new lease on life, since the fur makes it them less disposable. I think that this is an interesting idea, since it juxtaposes disposable and non-disposable items, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. What do you think? Would you get one of these?

The 2 ft. long Dinohorsie was made by the crazy imaginative craftster sparrowarms : “My daughter has always called Dinosaurs, Dinohorsies which got me thinking: what would a Dinohorsie look like?” A long-necked, faceless wet dog, apparently. But it’s still cute. What’s not cute at all is Herb, Dinohorsie’s buddy, which sparrowarms made from the leftover fake fur. Herb freaks me out so much (and his picture is low-res) that I’d rather you go to Craftster if you want to have a look at his face, which is also his body.

Inud the robo-dog (aka the Dream DX robot dog) responds to touch, voice commands, and can even track you as you move around it. The dog can move its eyes, mouth and head, wag its tail, shake with it paw, and can respond to voice commands like “good boy” about as reliably as you real dog does.

Just think, with one of these, you’ll never have to go out for another walk when it’s -10 degrees outside, and shedding all over your furniture and clothes will be a thing of the past. At a likely retail price of about $270, Inud isn’t cheap, but he is arguably much less expensive than a real dog.

The creepy FurReal Breathing Cat is an artificial pet that lays on its own little bed and looks like its breathing. The “realistic breathing action” is supposed to last for several weeks on a single set of batteries, but I’m pretty sure if you’re too lazy to take care of a real cat, you won’t bother changing the batteries on this one either.
