Off-days are unavoidable. If you find that you (or someone else you know) has been down in the dumps lately, then it’s time for some serious cheering up.

If you were able to get one of those Talking Heart Mice from a few years back, then all you need to do is give it a click or two to remind yourself that, hey, someone (or rather, something) still loves you. For everyone else, there’s the Emergency Affirmation Button.

Just press on the huge yellow smiley face and hear it utter a quick “You are awesome!” that can perk up even the lousiest and gloomiest and darkest of moods. It would also make a great gift to give someone who’s been sporting a sullen face lately. Here, watch how it works miracles:

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

It’s like a little happy pill that you can just push instead of pop to get some quick relief to a very blah day. These Emergency Affirmation Buttons are available from Amazon for $11.95(USD) each.

I’m not very good at figuring out Rubik’s Cubes. I did go to University with a guy who would twist and fiddle with 3×3, 4×4, even 5×5 Rubik’s Cubes, and can be done with the whole thing in a matter of a few minutes.

I have long since given up on trying to learn the technique or pattern that he was always telling me to look out for. He says Rubik’s Cubes relieve him of his stress, but in my case, it does the opposite. Every Rubik’s Cube, that is, except for this one.

That’s because this isn’t really a real Rubik’s Cube at all. It’s just a stress <del>ball</del> cube that was made to look like one, though. And with this particular Rubik’s Cube, I can finally get some stress relief because no brain power has to go into trying to “figure out” this cube, that’s for sure.

The Retro Rubik’s Cube Stress Ball is available from I Want One Of Those (I love what the people behind the store call their shop) for £4.99 (~$8 USD).

I don’t know what it is with cheap-o novelty makers and their insistence on making mock versions of everyday objects that intentionally jolt you with electricity. I suppose we can blame those old Adams joy buzzer tricks for inspiring such malevolent goods. So here we have the latest in a long line of nasty surprises – shock chocolate (say that ten times fast.)

And these aren’t just any shocking candy bars, nope, they induce “HAPPYNESS BECAUSE OF SHOCK.” Did they recently see that horrible Will Smith movie, or did they come up with that spelling all on their own? Either way, I can assure you that these battery-charged chocolate bars contain Golden Ticket straight to cardiac arrest.

Despite the fact that the product listing says “harmless shocking chocolate,” it goes on to say…

**NOT suitable for children under 14!
**NOT suitable for people suffering from epilepsy, heart disease, or similar illnesses!
**NOT suitable for pregnant lady!
**DO NOT taunt Happy Fun Ball!

Sorry, had to put that last one in there. If you’re really feeling mischievous (and your victim doesn’t fall into one of the above categories), you can get you rotten little hands on these over at Gadget4All for $6 (USD) a bar.

Been dying to do over your bathroom decor with a Hitchcockian theme? Well I can think of no better place to start than with these accessories.

Imagine the surprise of your roommate when they wake up tomorrow morning to find this Blood Bath shower curtain hanging in place of the old one. Whether they think Anthony Perkins came back to life to stab you to death or there was a midnight zombie attack, who cares? Either way, it’s bound to provoke a reaction.

To complete the effect, be sure to mix up some Karo syrup and red food coloring and splatter some down in the drain. Maybe a few drips on the floor, leading to the toilet too. If you’d rather save yourself the mess, you could also pick up this matching bloody bath mat.

The guys over at UK gift maker SpinningHat came up with these sick and twisted things, and I love them for it. I found the shower curtain over at ParamountZone for just £8.99 (appx. $13 USD) – but there’s no word on when they’ll start stocking the matching bath mat.

The Multi-Tector is the latest creation from the novelty house of Stupidiotic. Simply flip the handheld detector to the appropriate setting, aim it at your friends, and it’ll pick out your selected target with ease.

Actually, the gadget is a practical joke, which lets YOU decide who it singles out. There’s an inconspicuous button that lets you make the alarm light and sound go off on the mark of your choice. There’s also slightly edgier “adult” version if you don’t already swear enough times during the day.

Simple, yet effective, the Multi-Tector is available from Stupidiotic for just $8 bucks.

These may look like your typical cheap schlock shop knock-offs of popular gadgets, but they’re much more devious than that. You see, while they may bear a slight resemblance to a certain portable gaming system, media player and a dime-store pocket laser, they’re actually practical jokes that deliver a nasty shock.

Available in PSP, iPod and laser pointer versions, the $3.95 devices all deliver a tiny zap of current to your unsuspecting victim. Surprisingly, the laser pointer is actually functional, but don’t expect to play any games or music on the other gadgets. There’s also a fake car alarm remote that I came across a few weeks back too.

On a couple of occasions in my I’ve had defective electronic gear that decided to surprise me with a nasty jolt, but doing it intentionally just strikes me as plain cruel.

The guys over at Evil Mad Scientist Labs created these wacky stickers that you can slap on the boxes from your gadgets, video games and software.

The labels say “Now Slower and with More Bugs”, making them perfect on a copy of Windows Vista or maybe even Mac OS X Leopard. But they don’t just work with software. They’re also great when applied above that flashing red ring of death on your Xbox 360 or on your copy of the PS3 version of Assassin’s Creed. The possibilities are endless.

I also find the part about “more bugs” particularly funny when stuck on a box of Wheaties or Rice Krispies, although I’m not sure the “slower” part makes too much sense in that context. Eh, how much can you expect from a 25 cent sticker?

You can grab sheet of 10 of the fluorescent stickers from the Evil Mad Science shop for just $2.50.

If you’ve got a really cruel streak, here’s a new prank for your arsenal of practical jokes. This may look like an ordinary car keychain remote, but it won’t actually open any vehicle. Instead, it lets out a tiny jolt of electricity when your unsuspecting victim presses the wrong button.

The thing that makes me a bit nervous about this gag is that the company who makes them says there’s a laser pointer built into it, but it’s broken out of the box. There’s a hole and a button for the beam, but they don’t seem to do anything. Ah… nothing like quality control. I figure if they’re able to make that kind of glaring mistake, what’s the likelihood they got the amperage correct so you just annoy your buddies, rather than send them to an untimely demise.

If you’re willing to take a gamble, you can pick up a pair of these from DealExtreme for the appropriately oddball price of $5.52 USD.

Have a juvenile sense of humor? Now you can get out your immature tendencies with this remote controlled version of the “classic” Whoopee Cushion.

Just place the battery-operated receiver unit under your unsuspecting coworker’s chair, head back to your cubicle and press the wireless trigger and let the mayhem ensue. There’s nothing like a good fart joke to bring down the house. Just ask the guys who made Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.

The RF wireless remote works from up to 50 feet away, so you can run far away when your victim tries to hit you in the head with it. There’s literally minutes of fun to be had with this $10 gag, available from X-treme Geek.

I especially love how the package says “At Last! The Radio Controlled Whoopee Cushion…” like we’ve been waiting all our lives for this one to come along.
