Remember the life-sized Mario Kart that Nintendo and West Coast Customs unveiled at the LA Auto Show? Want it? Good news! Here’s your chance to own it, thanks to GameStop. The video game retailer has began taking raffle entries for the one of a kind vehicle. Remi Gaillard must be beside himself right now.

There are several ways of entering the raffle. Members of the PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro clubs can earn up to two entries daily by going to a GameStop branch to either make a purchase or trade-in transaction. Now here’s the slightly weird bit: it’s actually easier to enter the raffle if you’re not a member of either club. All you have to do is fill out this form. No purchase required. No leaving your house required. You have to be at least 18-years old though, and you can only enter once that way.

The contest ends on December 31, and the raffle will be held on January 15, 2012. Remember, this is for a functional (but obviously not street legal) electric Mario Kart kart, valued at $9,130 (USD). Couple that with the free and easy entry requirement, and the only reason why you wouldn’t enter this raffle is if you’re not a resident of the United States (or its territories). The rest of us will have to stick with the game.

I recently stumbled upon a photo album on Facebook about a whole bunch of kids from the University I went to planking all over the campus. The planking photos were amusing, to say the least, and I wasted around a half hour browsing through the entire album.

One of the photos showed a student planking on a canteen table with a school guard looking on in disapproval in the background. Gamestop apparently frowns in disapproval at planking as well, because word has spread that they’ve just fired an employee caught planking in one of their stores.

John Mazzocchi must have been pretty bored at work because he decided to plank right there at the store, had someone take a photo, and posted it on Twitter with the following Tweet: When I go #planking I go hardcore..

Someone from management probably saw him plank in real life or got wind of it via Twitter, because he got fired, and so did his colleague who took the photo.

Mazzocchi had been working at Gamestop for around 5 years, which translates to a pretty long time in the retail world. He seems to be fine about the whole firing situation though, because he’s been tweeting jokes about being the first person getting fired for planking.

I’m not sure who decided that water guns and rubber duckies were just the thing to help sell the console that has never spent more than a few days at most sitting on the shelf, but that seems to be the thrust behind GameStop’s wacky new Wii bundles.

The GameStop bundle: when it’s important to buy a water gun and a gaming console at the same time!

Some of the retailer’s bundles make a little more sense, and by some, I mean one: the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games bundle includes a console and the aforementioned game. It’s a bundle; it’s made up of things that go together.

The Take a Bath with a Buddy bundle? Includes a Wii and a rubber duck. Let’s just hope no one thinks that the buddy who goes into the bath is the Wii. Somebody’s gonna get sued.

According to the box are, Performance Design Product’s Rock Band Stage Kit is an “Interactive Light and Smoke Stage Show” to accompany your Rock Band jam sessions. Rumor has it that the light show is even synchronized to the music.

GameStop was quick to yank the image of the product, but the listing is still live, showing a 6/23/2008 release date and a retail price of $99.99.
