Add a few artful paint spatters for that oh-my-god-there’s-blood-everywhere affect (hey, it’s a violent game) and this has got to be the perfect controller for Gears of War. Just hope the paint can stand up to the sweaty-handed concentration that comes with, say, Horde mode.

You’d hardly guess it from the finished product, but this was velocitti’s first controller mod! If it was me, I might stop there. The problem with coming out strong is that sometimes the sophomore effort just can’t rise above, and this one sets quite the standard.

That’s what the guys over at Boston America have done with this sticky sweet yellow concoction being sold under the GOW brand name. I bet if Marcus and the Gears had been drinking this stuff all day long, they would have been much more efficient at curb-stomping the Locust Horde. You know you’ve got a truly badass weapon on your hands when it looks amazing despite lens flare (and being made of cardboard). Through a few mutilated limbs in there or something and you’ve got a Saw movie pretty authentic recreation.

TheLemonadeStandShop may have a whimsical name, but Master Chief is serious business. The hero of Halo isn’t all that’s on offer, however; the Etsy marketplace also has glass balls decorated with a Gears of War motif.

There are several other ornaments for sale as well, with characters such as Hello Kitty, for those who prefer cuteness to carnage on the Christmas tree. You can even request a little personalization on the ornaments, though for $5.00, it seems doubtful that would extend to custom armor colors on the Halo 3 ornament.

Modder DFW Monkie, the same guy who brought us this creepy alligator Xbox 360, has outdone himself this time with his new Gears 360.

The case features an intricate sculptural Gears of War logo, complete with a skull and gear that glows in an ominous red light up when the console is on.

He built this custom case using lots and lots of layers of Bondo, and painstakingly hand sculpting it before coating it in a deep black paint job to make it look nearly as imposing as the first time you ever ran into a Berserker.

According to a press release that hit the wire today, the collection of cheapie $3.99 games being sold at Burger King restaurants has now sold more than 2 million copies since being released back on November 19th. Granted, there are three titles in the BK Lounge’s series, and each game costs about 1/15th of what Gears costs, but still, it just shows the power of fast food culture in our great nation.

Personally, if that guy in the freaky looking King costume snuck up on me, I’d take him out with the business end of my Lancer Assault Rifle.

Actor John Di Maggio, is responsible for voicing the two incredibly different fictitious characters. About the only thing in common between the two are the propensity for four-letter words and their metal costumes.

I haven’t been this shocked by an actor’s range since I realized a single actor played the roles of Cameron Diaz’s mentally challenged brother in There’s Something About Mary, brutal killler Dan Dority on HBO’s Deadwood and famous rock singer, Meat Loaf. I guess that’s why they call it acting.
