Actually, it’s not really a Pac-Man poncho, it’s a Blinky ghost poncho, and it’s actually just called the “retro arcade poncho,” presumably to avoid any nastiness from Namco’s crack legal team. Regardless of its name, the poncho will look great on any retro game guy or gal, and keep the rainwater off your head and shoulders as it pours down (though it won’t keep you from turning blue and being eaten by a giant yellow dot-gobbling creature.)

But for this augmented reality game, I might change my mind – provided I’ve got my best friends who will take on any haunted houses with me, that is.

We’ve all been told that every place has it’s own story, and that’s precisely what Haunted Planet Studios  is aiming to do with their series of augmented reality ghost hunt games. The developer has come up with several applications that will let users capture the “paranormal activity” by running the game on their mobile phones.

As of now, two games have already been created: Falkland Ghost Hunt for Scotland (shown in the video above) and Viking Ghost Hunt for Dublin, Ireland. It’s interesting how they used AR together with fantastic audio effects and GPS technology to come up with an integrative game that will surely give anyone the heebie jeebies.

Each artist was asked to submit their own personal vision of Siri. The winner in the 3D design catergory was SaGa Design with their Omniscient Siri case. As soon as I saw it, I thought of Masamune Shirow’s epic Ghost in the Shell. I think this would fit right in.

The case features the image of a woman (presumably Siri) pushing out of the front of the iPhone 4 like something out of Videodrome. Naturally, the case was rendered using Shapeway’s 3D printing tech.

Thanks to the wonders of 3D printing, you can buy one of these if you’d like to. Prices start at $90(USD) for the white version, and go up to $350 for a glossy gold-plated version. Just don’t ask me how to fit it in your pocket.

They’re perfectly sized to fit in the palm of your hand, and are great for working out any extraneous hostility you might have – especially if you got stuck on one of the more difficult levels trying to get that bonus “fruit” that looks like a Galaxian spaceship or that damned key. And if you’re the self-deprecating type, you can squash Pac-Man instead of Blinky, Inky or Clyde. Say, where’s Pinky, by the way? Maybe he’s off regenerating himself back in ghost cage.

But I digress. If you’re feeling stressed out, you can get your hands on the Pac-Man and ghost stress balls over at KitschaGoGo for £3.99 to £4.99 (~$6 to $8 USD).

These Pac-Man ghost tables are made by Austin, Texas artist Ryan Fitzpatrick of Masters of Fate, and can be made in pretty much any ghostly color scheme you’d like. Inky, Blinky, Pinky, or Clyde – they’re all available – since each table is handmade, of course.

Each  hand-painted wood table measures 33″ x 36″, and you can request whatever height legs you want, so Blinky can work as a coffee table, laptop desk, or even a small cafe table when you’re gobbling down some power pellets for dinner.

Luzinterruptus is a Spanish collective that is known for creating guerilla LED light installations in Madrid. This installation is called Radioactive Control and consists of 100 decontamination suits that are propped up like scarecrows, each one is illuminated with LEDs giving that ghostly look. This particular installation rattled the crowd of festival attendees. You can walk through this rural field and see them up close and personal.

This installation will stand for 30 days. It’s fitting that Germany announced that they will abolish nuclear power by 2022.

Each ghost measures just about 4-inches tall, and there’s a light sensor is mounted on the rear of each one, so when there isn’t enough light, they’ll switch on automatically and switch off. You need to plug them in a USB port. They won’t chase you like in Pac-Man, but they’ll definitely decorate your workstation.

The SFQ-01W Ghost comes in white and it’s quite distinctive for a iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad dock. In addition to its 30-pin dock connector port, it offers Bluetooth A2DP streaming, and a 3.5mm input jack. There’s also a custom iOS app which lets you use your device as a remote control for the system, which even lets you control the dock’s built-in FM tuner.

The tee was designed by Stuart Colebrook, and features the ghostly red figure of Blinky, brought back to life for one last time during a seance. I’m not sure why none of the other ghosts are there, but it does answer that burning question of whether or not the ghosts stay blue when they go to the great maze in the sky.

Creepy eh? Actually, that’s Mr. T, a robot made especially for Halloween by Michael aka Utah Aerials. Mr. T is based on the KKMulticontroller, which can be used to make small helicopters with up to 6 rotors. In Mr. T’s case he has two prop-tilt rotors driven by Turnigy motors. Mr. T’s spectral form hides the KKMulticontroller and a battery. Here’s Michael’s awesome video of Mr. T terrorizing his neighborhood:

Michael, next year I think you should try turning Mr. T into the Goblin Glider, then just place a Green Goblin figure on top. The costume features illuminated armor made from football pads, along with an accompanying bad-ass prop gun, crafted from what looks like a highly-modified NERF weapon.

These Pac-Man ghost key covers are perfect for sorting out which key is which on your keychain. Now all I have to remember is that Blinky=front door, Pinky=back door, Inky=desk drawer and Clyde=car. Or was Pinky the office door, and Clyde the mailbox? Oh well, at least they look cool.

I first found these over at Japan’s Strapya, and since I could read a single word on the site without Google Translate, I thought there was no way to get them outside of Japan. Thankfully, their sister site Strapya-World sells them too, for about $4 a piece. Currently, they’re sold out of all colors except Pinky, which of course defeats the whole purpose. Hopefully, they’ll get more soon.

Made exclusively for ClubNAMCO, the Pac-Man Pellet Time watch tells time with ghosts and power pills. The face features all the Pac-Man gang, along with an invisible second hand with Pac-Man gobbling up dots, cherries and a blue ghost as he circles the outside of the dial.

Only 500 of these watches are being made, and each watch is individually marked with a serial number. You can get one over at clubNAMCO for $129.99 (USD). Be sure to grab the bundle version that includes a free copy of Pac-Man for your PC.

Tell me that isn’t the face of evil–mischievous, adorable evil. Coolbeans717 has a massive Etsy shopfront just packed with all sorts of geek-inspired felted gadget cases. If you prefer, say, The Legend of Zelda, or maybe Spam (in a can, not in your e-mail), you can veer away from the path of Pac-Man, though it is inadvisable. There’s not much that compares to the ghost cases.

The pouches aren’t exactly cheap, as these things go–most of ‘em are priced at $20–but they look great, and it’s always wonderful to buy handmade.

SugarRobot’s Esty store has all sorts of cupcake covers, from fancy little butterflies (edible!) to robots (awesome!) to the Pac-Man covers shown above. For ten bucks, you can cover a dozen cupcakes… but will you claim the work as your own? Tsk, tsk.

Using the covers sounds ridiculously easy: make your cupcakes, cover ‘em with a tiny bit of frosting (think of it as delicious glue), and then apply the covers. It’s a recipe for instant cupcake success, and maybe if we make a big enough deal out of these, SugarRobot will roll out (and cut out) even more fondant designs.

ArcadeArt handcrafts these whimsical ghost coasters (aka ‘Ghosters’) that display Blinky the red ghost on one side, and then flip to reveal a post-power-pill blue ghost on the flip-side.

According to the artist, they’re made from “graffiti, wood, paint and pixels” – four ingredients that probably are all I’d need to survive on a desert island – assuming I get to keep my iPhone, wireless service, satellite dish, HDTV, DVR, PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and some Red Vines too.

Retro-gaming fans have got to love thse Blinky, Inky, Pinky, Clyde and blue ghost t-shirts from LowRez.De. Pac-Man not included.

The blue parts are appliqued on with yellow buttons sewn on for the dots. The characters are hand-sewn for maximum cuteness!

Deacon also had the floor painted with imagery that could only be described as Capcom-tastic. It had a giant Pac-Man screen rendered in black, blue, and yellow.

While most of the actual clothing was not Pac-Man, there was this glittery frock rife with pastel Pac-mania.

No report as to whether they used wockawockawocka sound effects as the models took the stage…
