I am not a golfer. I don’t play mini-golf, and I don’t play golf video games well either. I have tried my hand at Golden Tee and failed miserably on more than one occasion. But if you are a serious fan of the arcade classic Golden Tee, the latest competition from the company is set to kick off soon.

The company behind the game, Incredible Technologies, has been designing courses and updating the Golden Tee game since 1986. A new Design-a-Hole contest is running that lets fans of the game submit their own designs.

The company says that they get all sorts of submissions from bar napkin drawings to CAD designs and YouTube videos. Designer Jim Zielinski said, “I like holes that make players think and make choices. I want them to offer a risk/reward variance. It’s got to be challenging, but feasible. And, of course, fun.” If you win the content, they will include your hole in the 2012 version of the game, and the world premiere of the game will take place in your hometown at a local bar.

Sometimes there are gadgets that turn up that we look at and collectively and wonder WTF the designer was thinking. This is one such gadget – a golf ball launcher for your rifle. The accessory is cheap enough at about $20 and it attaches to the barrel of your M16, M4, or AR-15.

Once the device is attached, you put in a golf ball and load the magazine with blanks. The gasses from the firing of the blanks will shoot the golf ball out of the end like a cannon. Some of the users claim that the ball is good for as much as 400 yards and that you can shoot the thing about 200 yards with 5-10 feet of drop.

Golf ball sniping may be a real sport before you know it. The downside is that this thing attaches to a real weapon and fires what sound like real bullets. That means no trips to the driving range unless you want to see the inside of a jail cell.

I am about as far from a golfer as I can be. I play miniature golf on occasion and can’t even win at that. A trip to a real course for me would be an all day cursing match. If you are into golf and like to use gadgets to improve your game Callaway Golf has a new GPS device for you.

The GPS device is called the upro MX and will ship this May for $199. The pocket-size gadget has a 2.2-inch LCD screen and weighs just three ounces. There will be no annual fees to use the GPS device, and it comes out of the box ready to go with 25,000 courses in its database.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

The device can be upgraded to support high-resolution aerial photos of the courses too. That upgrade to support the aerial photos costs money, but Callaway isn’t clear on what the up-charge will be for the service. You can pre-order the upro MX here.

Okay, it really wouldn’t help me score less than a 35 handicap, but this Batman golf cart would definitely cheer me up the next time I four-putt, or can’t hit past the ladies’ tee box. This his undeniably great Tumbler-inspired golf cart was recently spotted on the Warner Bros. studio lot.

Originally thought to be owned by Christopher Nolan, it turns out the cart is actually the work of a serious Batman superfan, who just happens to work at the studio.

Still, Nolan should be duly impressed with the build quality of this mutant golf cart, which looks very much like Batmans’ Tumbler vehicle.

We’ve also gotten our hands on this exclusive photo of the Bat-golf-prototype:

I don’t know if I should really be sharing this dorky tidbit, but back when I was just a pup, I was a serious bad-ass on the miniature golf course. I actually won a couple of shiny plastic trophies, and even an official gold-plated Jack Nicklaus putter from the neighborhood Putt-Putt.

Over the years, my time on the course diminished, and eventually I ended up as a completely sub-par (er actually, way above par) golfer as an adult. So when I saw this kit that lets you set up a mini golf course just about anywhere, I got the wild idea that maybe I could get my putting game back in check.

Just mow your lawn, throw down the obstacles on the ground, and get to putting. Since each piece is completely standalone, you can constantly create new challenges for yourself. And of course, there’s nothing stopping you from setting up a virtual putting green in the middle of your office or living room.

Designed by George Pal and Hannes Weber of defacto.GmbH, the MyMiniGolf portable mini golf course comes with a variety of ramps, loops, jumps and cups. The kit includes 13 plastic obstacles in an oversize nylon carrying bag, along with a putter, a couple of balls and a score pad.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Ready to bring the course to you? Head on over to Generate, plunk down your $329, and get working on that hole-in-one.

CrabFu’s Putter Bot is a remote-controlled robot that’s designed to do just one thing – putt the ball.

Nope, it can’t hit a 200 yard tee shot, nor can it get out of a sand trap, but it should be able to gently tap the ball into the hole from a few club-lengths away.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Of course, that assumes that the person controlling the Putter Bot can actually aim. I counted 4 strokes on that last putt. Maybe with a little more practice, it could hit a proper two-putt.

Mario and Luigi sit on your tabletop and can putt a tiny golf ball into a little cup. They’re wired to a Nintendo Famicom-inspired remote control which gets your putter swinging. While they do look like fun, the wonky controls (the A and B buttons control the swing) make your odds of a hole-in-one about as good as me getting one on a real life golf course.

The mini Mario and Luigi golfers cost $14.99 each, so the pair will set you back just under 30 bucks from ThinkGeek. They’re perfect for the Nintendo fan with everything.

Westech Korea is launching this new portable wrist-worn GPS device which is designed specifically for sports applications. The Pyxis RGPS-300 features unique modes for tracking all sorts of athletic endeavors including running, biking, hiking, mountain climbing, skiing and even driving. My personal favorite feature is the ability to load up maps of your favorite golf courses and check out how far away you are from the pin.

For now, the device is only available in Korea, but hopefully they’ll see fit to release it in other parts of the world soon.

Midway and Cartoon Network have revealed that they’re working on a new game based on the popular Adult Swim cartoon, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The game, titled Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am, will be an action-adventure game featuring “combat golf” (whatever that means,) cart racing among other things.

According to ATHF series creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, “This golden chalice represents a new age in gaming, the likes of which has never before been seen on this planet. The weak will tremble at the awesomeness of our full color, hand-made graphics!” With an endorsement like that, I can only imagine that the game will be better than God of War, Halo, Super Mario Brothers and Grand Theft Auto 3 all rolled into one.

The game is expected to hit stores this Fall for the PlayStation 2, following the release of the upcoming ATHF movie, coming out this April.
