Mmmm… all geeks can appreciate a good slab of meat. While bacon is usually the first choice among us techies, and bacon plus cheese plus bacon is a close second, sausage is always appreciated at my annual Tetris/Cosplay/Steampunk/Apple fest. (Yes, I have one of those, and no, you’re not invited. This is the internet – for all I know, you could be an evil cat who feeds on happiness. Like most cats.) The Cupcakewurst combines the best of the best into one delicious treat: sausage casing filled with baked cupcake batter, put on a sliced open Long John, and topped with raspberry jelly.

At first look, this seems to be pretty disgusting. At second look, it seems to be still disgusting, and I am beginning to wonder whether or not I would eat it. Perhaps if we had this same setup, except without the animal parts covering my cupcake, then we’d be okay. Bacon frosting was one thing, but cupcake-filled sausages? This might be too delicious for <del>my weak stomach</del> mankind to handle. UP THE VOMIT BAG MANUFACTURING BY 200%! OCCUPY WALLSTREET!

Stef of Cupcake Project makes these beauties by pouring a bunch of chocolate cupcake batter into animal intestines, and then putting them on a grill. (Yep.) Ah, what the heck – I’d buy twenty, just because I like to support the geeks who are out there trying to come up with amazing food combinations. And, hey – who knows – maybe these are delicious! It’s kind of difficult, with the current technology, to taste things via the internet. It’s much easier to walk around and then lick your shoes in order to find out what the ground had stuck to it. *Licks shoe*

I’m not sure about these things, on top of creeping me out, these fake ears double as an earphone caddy. They will allow you to store your earbuds without getting the cords all tangled up, which is good since that shortens the life of your wires.

The aptly named Ear Tidy is made out of two realistic-looking silicone ears, mounted back to back. To store your earbuds, simply stick them into these fake ears. Then, wrap the cord around the middle part.

There’s no word yet one when they will be available and how much this thing will cost, but I’m guessing that it won’t be that expensive. Regardless, it’ll still be creepy.

I hate spiders. They’re gross looking and even the ones that I know aren’t poisonous I still find extremely disturbing. Growing up in rural area, I spent plenty of time in the woods as a kid and have distinct memories of trying to peel spider webs out of my hair while imagining an angry, homeless spider is hiding just behind my ear waiting to crawl into my brain. Spider silk is some sticky stuff. It turns out that in the future, spider silk may be used inside electronic devices to help dissipate heat.

A Japanese mechanical engineer named Xinwei Wang has been investigating spider silk from a spider called the Golden Silk Orbweaver that is known for making complicated webs. The engineer was testing the spider silk for external connectivity and discovered that it is about 800 times more effective at conducting thermal energy than any other organic material tested.

In fact, it was better than almost all non-organic materials tested including copper, iron, and silicon. Another interesting factoid is that the research team discovered that by stretching the silk to 20% of its capacity, thermal conductivity also increased by 20%. Typically, when material is stretched it loses thermal conductivity. There are no plans to use this spider silk for making electronics right now, but in the future spiders webs inside your computer could be there to keep your PC cool rather than because you don’t keep it clean.

[Iowa State University via GizMag]

Aside from considering the nutritional content, there’s also taste, aroma, and of course, presentation. I don’t really care how my meals look like, as long as they taste good, with the exception of this Evil Dead Bento Box, that is.

I stared at the image for a good ten seconds before I could peel my eyes away from this edible abomination.

Let’s break it down, shall we? That’s rice right there for the face, some sea weed for the nose and other facial markings, and boiled eggs rimmed with black pepper for the eyes. I keep trying to guess what the teeth actually are, but I’m starting to feel queasy so I’ll leave the rest of the guesswork up to you.

I wonder if the person who made this ended up actually eating it. Because personally, I don’t think I could stomach this at all.

I love milk. My mom would always tell me that I used to drink milk (the chocolate flavored ones, to be specific) as if it were water. I love strawberry milk, melon milk, milk tea, vanilla milkshakes, and a whole lot of other stuff where milk is one of the main ingredients.

But milk that’s been gargled by “rich, beautiful, white girls”? No, thank you.

I have to admit I was extremely grossed out as I read what White Power Milk was, how the milk was gargled, and why it was being gargled. There’s also some text on how the girls were chosen, where the site proudly states that no doctors involved, as the people behind the supposed White Power Milk company say: “When we find the right girl from the right family, we just know.”

Heck, there was even a “gargling video” that was up for sale on the site.

It took me a couple more minutes to realize that the site wasn’t seriously selling gargled milk. I thought it was a prank, but apparently it’s performance art by artist Nate Hill. Nate took inspiration from racially-inappropriate tweets and posts on Twitter.

You may or may not know this about me, but I really dislike bugs. Not dragonflies or ladybugs, mind you, just the really creepy crawly type. And while it’s usually the ones with thousands of legs that really freak me out, larvae are about the next worst thing. Now, in case there weren’t enough actual larvae squirming around the planet, you can buy yourself a robotic one.

The latest HexBug robot looks like a nasty larva, except made out of plastic instead of whatever slimy stuff actual larvae are made of. What makes these things even more creepy is that they have robotic brains inside of them.

The 3.9″ long oversize larva robot slithers around on any smooth surface, with its tail wriggling from side to side. When it sees an object in its way, it automatically changes direction, and keeps on moovin’ and groovin’. Great. This thing is going to be able to avoid my attempts to kill it with Raid. Guess there’s always my shoe.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

These creepy crawlers are great stocking stuffers for kids, assuming they don’t actually leave them in their socks when they put them on. They’re also great for reproducing that scene from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, where he puts that nasty bug in Chekhov’s ear (that scene is way better in German, BTW). Actually, kids, don’t put these in your ears.

You can grab the HexBug Larva here for $12.99 (USD) each. Just don’t buy me any.

You might think its hot where you are. However, you don’t know hot until you visit Texas in the summer. We are going on 40 consecutive days of temperatures in the 104-107°F range in many areas, and on top of the heat, we are having our annual drought and it is one of the worst ever. The heat and the lack of rain means that local lakes where many cities get their water are drying up and water is running out.

A little town called Big Spring, Texas has found that the water supply is in such crisis that it is taking to extreme measures to ensure that residents have water for drinking and cooking. The city has started laying out plans to create massive sewage filtration system that would convert urine and wastewater into drinkable water for the residents.

The process would be hygienic and use technology that is similar to what NASA uses on the ISS. Still the thought of drinking your neighbor’s urine no matter how many times it is filtered seems very disgusting. The 27,000 residents of the city typically get their water from the Colorado River Municipal Water District.

Looking for a good way to rid yourself of all that pent up stress you have coursing through your veins? While it might not be as good as this, you can certainly work out some of your aggression with a stress ball. But you don’t want an ordinary stress ball, right? You want one of these.

With just a squeeze, this ordinary looking blue ball emits a gross green ooze reminiscent of some sort of puss-filled infections disease. Yum. There’s nothing more appetizing than that. And if the blue/green bubonic plague infection isn’t good enough for you, you can choose from smallpox (green with orange pustules), zombie virus (red with green pustules), or a deadly case of the cooties (red with red pustules). Can I say pustules one more time? Collect them all and increase your chances of a nasty new mutated strain FTW!

I think if you’re a doctor specializing in infectious diseases, you need to fill up your waiting room with these to break the ice with your patients. Catch them all over at ThinkGeek for just $4.99 (USD) each.

The endoscope is traditionally a long tube that has a camera on the end and shoots video back to a viewing port for the doctor to see what is going on up inside your colon or down your throat. These things are used for all sorts of procedures from seeing if your ulcer is better to looking for rectal cancer or pulling odd things out of bums. Having worked in an emergency room for many years you would be shocked at the items that end up stuck in orbit around Uranus

There is another type of endoscope camera that is in a large pill that the patient can swallow. That would be much more comfortable than the long tube for sure. The catch is that the typical pill camera can’t be controlled and can only go where the muscle contractions inside the body take it. Some researchers in Japan have figured out a way to control that pill camera though.

They grafted a magnetic propulsion system that reminds me a lot of the old flick Innerspace onto the back of the normal pill camera. The capsule has a little tail that flips to propel it around the body. It can swim in the stomach and presumably crawl back up that colon rather than getting flushed too soon. The device is code named “Mermaid” which is lame. I would have went with “Bird of Prey” because then I could use that old “There are Klingons near Uranus” joke. The worst job in the research group would have the be the person in charge of retrieving the prototype.

I am not a fan of staying in hotels at all. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable, and the thought of sleeping in a bed that some perverts could have had an orgy in the night before is not appealing in the least. I also don’t even want to know what the people do with the remote controls in their hand with the prolific amount of adult programming on hotel networks. DirecTV is trying to at least make the remote a little less gross for us to use.

A new service is coming for hotels that is called Residential Experience for Hotels. That is cool since if you use DirecTV at home you might remember where some of the channels you like are. The cool part isn’t the programming options though, but the special remote control that kills germs.

This is the first anti-microbial remote control to be offered by DirecTV. The remote the system will use was specifically designed for the lodging industry and has a special anti-microbial coating. Exactly how the anti-microbial coating works isn’t noted, but I would assume it has some sort of silver content like a lot of the anti-microbial products and peripherals on the market today.

Back in the days of the Super Nintendo, I think we can agree that many of the games weren’t worth a piss. The sports games were the worst when I was a kid. The only games that I ever seemed to find around were football or baseball video games that were boring. I was more the racing game type or Super Mario Bros. type.

If you have a bunch of old games that you really don’t like or just don’t work and you need to make something geeky, this is it. This urinal is made of old SNES cartridges and some other supplies. The finished product is a urinal that you can pee on.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

The thing I see about this is that if you make a mistake sealing up all those gaps, you will end up with pee everywhere. It also looks like this urinal is very likely to overflow. A urinal overflowing on your shoes is one of the few things guys fear in the public restroom. You can make your own game urinal for about $250 and with eight hours of your time.

I still remember that day in 7th grade when we walked into biology class and pinned to a bunch of trays were dead frogs. The teacher gave us all a scalpel and we set about cutting the stinky preserved frogs up to see what is inside. I will remember the smell forever, and the fact that my lab partner ended up with frog juice in his mouth (don’t ask).

This is really cool. LEGO fan Dave Kaleta has constructed a dissected frog completely out of LEGO bricks. The frog is splayed open and its innards and outards are all made out of the little plastic bricks. It took quite a vision and a keen recollection of what a frog looks like on the inside to pull this off.

The person reportedly built the LEGO frog for the MOC Olympics anatomy competition. The builder even made the dissection tools and tray out of LEGOs.

Yep, what you’re looking at is the Earth’s largest edible earthworm (a.k.a. the World’s largest gummy worm). At 128x larger than a “standard” gummy worm (is there such a thing as a “standard” for gummy worms?), it measures 26-inches long, weighs in at about 3 pounds, and will fill your tummy up with 4,000 calories of gooey worm gel.

Yep – eat a whole one, and you’ll instantly gain over a pound – even after digestion. Next time Matt Damon or Robert DeNiro need to gain weight for a movie role, they should eat some of these instead of donuts.

Fresh off the boat from Japan, this USB gadget looks just like the grotesque giant-headed, acid-blood-dripping, eponymous alien of Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien vs. Predator, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, Alien: Resurrection (and the soon-to-be Alien prequel).

Just plug the nasty thing into your USB port, its grotesque inner mouth randomly pops out of it’s mother mouth, backlit by a glowing red LED. Yummy.

If you’re a fan of Alien, you’ve gotta grab one of these. They’re available for pre-order over at Strapya World for ¥3990 (appx. $44 USD), and should start shipping this December.

I think I’ll put this right next to Hello Kitty and Domokun.

On the other hand, if your kids are into gross stuff, and understand the difference between play and real life, these car-flattened stuffed animals might be fun sitting beneath the Christmas tree this year.

Each Roadkill stuffed animal comes packed in its own see-through body bag, complete with all of its plush and squishy guts pouring out of its body. They even throw in a death certificate and an “I heart Roadkill” bumper sticker in each bag. The smashed menagerie includes Twitch the Racoon, Grind the Rabbit, and Splodge the Hedgehog (Sonic’s long-lost cousin?). There’s also Pop the Weasel, who’s not stuffed at all – rather a flat rubber door stop. (You can read their obituaries here.)

UK readers can find the entire series of squashed Roadkill toys over at the RoadkillToys website for £25.00 each. Live in the U.S.? The guys over at Charles & Marie are selling Roadkill animals for $40 (USD) each.

We already showed you how to make zombie cupcakes (actually I just gave you a link to the actual instructions, but you know what I mean). Now here’s the perfect partner to that brainy pastry – the Bloody Brain Shooter.

The brain-like goo in this case is just Bailey’s Irish cream. It ends up like that because the drink itself is vodka mixed with lime juice. The lime juice causes the cream to curdle a little and voila – Baiiiiiiiileeeeeeeeeeeeyssssss. Drop by Fine Living for the complete recipe and instructions on how to make this gross undead drink.

Want to make something really special for Halloween? And by special I mean extra gross. Checkout Gothic Nightmare‘s prop tutorials, particularly the one with the twitching legs, complete with blood red innards.

I sure am glad I wasn’t eating when I saw this, or else I might have puked my own insides out. Actually I think I still might disembowel myself so let’s get this over with. Gothic Nightmare says that the intestines and alien worm-looking stuff are made of expanding spray foam insulation that’s been spray painted. “Bits of twine and stuff” were added for the veins. I don’t want to know what the “stuff” might be. Then a pair of jeans was stuffed with plastic to fill it out.

A makeshift “twitcher” made of an ice crusher’s motor, some levers and wood was then attached to one of its legs. The end product is a monstrosity that even the undead would find unsettling:

There’s a joke in here somewhere between that sick squeaking sound and the twitching, but I’m too nauseated to make it up. But if you think it’s awesome and all, the disgustingly talented unnamed prop maker recommends that you use a slower motor – like a wiper motor – to power the leg, because the ice crusher’s motor made the leg move too fast so it had to be slowed down with a dimmer switch. I need to lie down.

With its light-up red eyeballs, I wouldn’t necessarily call this rat-on-wheels “lifelike”. But its hairy body and quick moves are probably enough to freak out your pals – especially if you drive it around with the lights off in the middle of the night.

So if you’re feeling like a dirty rat, head on over to TaylorGifts and you can grab one for about $25 bucks (USD).

Ever since 2007′s creepy CompuBeaver casemod, there hasn’t been too much news in the budding field of computer taxidermy. I suppose that had to change sooner or later.

This disturbing creation is a compact computer mouse that’s been stuffed into the carcass of an actual dead mouse. Now I’m not a big fan of live mice in general, but this just seems too cruel and unusual to me. If you have a weak stomach, do not scroll down.

I told you so. Don’t blame me if you just lost your lunch.

Instructables has a horribly gory tutorial on making your own dead mouse mouse. I do not recommend that you try this under any circumstance. But if you do insist on making one, please do not start with a live mouse, and never let your cat see it.
