If you are into cosplay and think a hammer is a darn fine magical weapon to defend the good and vanquish evil Hasbro has your tool. An electronic Thor’s hammer has been unveiled that even shoots a blue missile out of the top.

The hammer makes sounds and it has flashing lights to boot. We will probably see these things running rampant at the next comic book show. You can pre-order one right now for $19.99(USD) at BigBadtoyStore.com and they will even hand-pick a mint-condition one for you for an extra $2 to add to your geek collection.

I have a few hammers around the house for different things. One came in a cheap tool kit my wife bought in pink so I wouldn’t use her tools on my car and get them greasy. I also have a big red hammer that I snuck out of my mom’s house over a decade ago when I moved out. A hammer tends to last.

I would consider upgrading to a new hammer though if they would build this concept Nail Hammer. The thing works like your basic hammer in that you can bash things with it. It has a handle with a slide up door that hides a silicone section you can stick your nails in rather than holding them in your teeth.

If they could make the thing load itself automatically from a cartridge so you didn’t have to risk a finger to hammer in a nail that would be ever better. I like tool gadgets like this. I would be able to find both my hammer and my nails with this thing rather than one or the other like I usually end up with.

Designed by Marijn van der Poll of Droog Designs, the Do hit chair isn’t much of a chair in its vanilla state. It’s simply a 40″ x 28″ x 30″ stainless steel box, about 0.05-inches thick. But it also comes with a wide-headed hammer. Guess what you can (have to?) do with the box.

That’s right; van der Poll draws a very thin line between customization and destruction. Here’s the designer himself “customizing” a Do hit chair:

I hate to be a downer here, but even though whaling on your furniture seems like a fun activity, I don’t think you’ll ever make a comfortable chair out of it. Not that that’s the point of the whole thing. Eh, at least you get a free sledgehammer out of the deal.

Here’s a fun little game if you’re looking for a fun way to kill a little time today. Mountain Maniac is a wonderfully retro-styled Flash game that involves a little pixelated guy and a hammer (and no, it’s not Donkey Kong).

The game puts you in the role of both the hammer-wielding Maniac, along with the boulder he knocks from the earth when he bashes the mallet into the ground. The objective of the game is simple. Steer the unleashed boulder to wreak as much havoc as you possibly can as it careens down the mountainside to the town below.

Your boulder bounces off of trees, cars, and woodland creatures as it makes its way to the little town below. Think of it like Pachinko meets Burnout’s addictive crash mode meets any game you ever played on your Atari 800. There’s even a bonus level that involves smashing forest rangers and armed guards with your hammer. How can you resist?

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to adult swim games and check out Mountain Maniac now. Smashy, smashy!

I wish I could insert thunder & lightning sound effects to this post. For now let’s just use our imagination: Krakaabooom! The thread-deleting, commenter-obliterating, justice-dealing mythical meme finally finds its way into the real world! Artist/pioneer/blacksmith for a day Christopher Thompson has “conjured into existence the worlds only real Banhammer.” BANHAMMERRRRRRR!!! Ka-booom!!!

Staying true to it’s digital origins, Thompson made the banhammer using 3D printing. Thompson also says that it’s a “speldge” hammer. I don’t know what that is, so I’ll just assume that it’s the sound produced when the hammer is brought down on mortal flesh.

Thompson was kind enough to post instructions on making a banhammer, but if you’re not familiar with 3D modeling the instructions won’t make sense. Hey Chris, maybe you should try making a disemvoweler too.

The “nailed” memory stick makes it look like you got very frustrated with your computer, and in a fit of rage, hammered a nail into it. It sends a much different message than, say, storing your data in a chicken wing.

This is the first product from plankton, a new design company based in the Netherlands. The USB stick is made of polyurethane and iron and has a 1 GB memory capacity.

This doohickey will set you back €29,50 (a little over $46 in the U.S.A.) You can buy your own from plankton, and make the guy in the next cubicle think you’re a whole lot tougher than you really are… in case some of your other flash drives have made him think you’ve gone soft.
