Designed by Da Deng, the Bye-5 is a light switch that’s also meant to cheer the user up. You see, instead of a switch or a button or a string, the Bye-5 looks like a hand, always ready to give – and receive – a high five. It doesn’t exactly look like a human hand though:

To me, the Bye-5 looks like it came from a translucent giant baby. On the other hand, it does have a “soft, skin-like touch”, plus it has its own small LED that activates when you switch the room light off, so you won’t be left alone in the dark with a translucent giant baby hand.

Overall I think it’s a neat concept. What better way to start or end your day than with a high five? Actually I could think of tons of things that are better than that. But you get my point.

Bluetrek’s SurfaceSound Compact uses NXT flat-panel speaker technology to provide plenty of volume and clear calling quality using a Bluetooth connection to your phone.

The flat speaker/microphone is perfect for use with the iPhone or any other phone with Bluetooth wireless headset connectivity. The SurfaceSound Compact has a built-in rechargeable battery which can run for up to 15 hours (or 22 days standby) on a single charge. It can be charged using an included car charger or via a USB cable connected to your computer.

SurfaceSound Compact’s $100 MSRP seems a bit high to me, but I was able to find them for under $70 over on MobilePlanet.

Consisting of a pair of giant rubber bands (in case you break one,) the kit lets you fasten your mobile phone to the side of your head, thus freeing your hands for whatever important tasks you need them for. You can grab one of these from That’s Bizarre for £2 (appx. $4 USD.)
