You know what’s missing from doors these days? Keyholes big enough that you can actually look through. Back in the good old days, if you wondered what was going on behind a locked door, you’d just kneel down and take a look through the keyhole. The last time I went door shopping, I didn’t find a single one that I could peer through even a little. Heck, most interior doors don’t even use keys. What is this world coming to? Well an architect named Hideyuki Nakayama has a solution for this problem.

Instead of adding large keyholes to doors, he’s turned the doorknobs into a pair of connected glass globes. This allows you to see what’s going on in the other room simply by looking at the knob itself. Unfortunately, there’s no word as to whether or not these will actually be mass-produced and sold.

This innovative portable light provides a soft, warm glow wherever life takes you. When you’re ready to head outside, just grab it and go.

Vessel’s $249 Luau portable lamp works indoors or out, and provides illumination equivalent to a 50-watt light bulb. If you prefer some mood lighting, it’s also dimmable. The lamp’s design incorporates a nifty carrying handle, so it’s easy to pick up and take with you.

A high-efficiency LED light source means you can go for anywhere from 6 to 10 hours on a single charge. When you’re back from your outdoor excursion, simply dock it back on its charging base, and it can continue to be used as a indoor lamp.
