A couple of week’s back I told you about the upcoming Samsung F700 mobile phone, which looks poised to give the Apple iPhone a pretty good run for its money. Well hot on the heals of that phone, Samsung has revealed another sweet looking touchscreen / keyboard hybrid phone, the SGH-F520…

Seems like every few days another mobile phone vendor tries to steal some thunder from Apple’s much anticipated iPhone. Samsung has now thrown their hat into the ring by throwing down with their own widescreen, touch-sensitive media phone.

The Samsung Ultra Smart F700 features a sleek, modern design that’s a little more rugged looking than Apple’s iPhone…

This cool phone from Asus channels many of its good looks from Apple’s iPhone. The Asus Aura has a 3.9-inch touchscreen LCD, a 2 megapixel digital camera and a slim 6.9mm thick case design.

The Aura does one up the iPhone in a few significant ways by offering UMTS and HSDPA (3G) high-speed connectivity, expandable storage via an SD slot and a slide-out keyboard. The bad news?..

I guess Apple has had their eye on the phone market for a long time…

And before you call fake, you can view the original patent filing here. Can you imagine us all running around with phones shaped like these? The patent also makes reference to a “Pac Man” phone, which I also find amusing, although I don’t know why.

Cingular has now posted a page on their site where you can now sign up to be notified when and how to order your Apple iPhone.

With all of the excitement about Steve Jobs’ new baby, I think there’s a good chance these things will be going for more than retail on eBay for the first few months.

A few weeks back I told you about Cisco/Linksys’ new line of voice over IP products being marketed under the “iPhone” brand name. Well now that Apple has announced their hot new iPhone, it looks like they never completed the process of working out a deal with Cisco to use the name. Cisco has owned the trademark on “iPhone” since 2000…
